NC500 SCOTLAND DASHCAM | Newton to Laid | Ep228

We drive the North Coast 500 route in Scotland between the junction of the B869 with the A894 at Newton and Laid on the north coast of Scotland. This is a section of the circuit that we completed in September 2019. Video is running at 4 times normal speed.

Thanks for watching our videos. We include all things to do with motorhomes, caravans and the great outdoors. We mainly tour the UK and camp around 80 nights per year in our 2017 Swift Bolero. Enjoyed riding along with you on the coast in Scotland. Can't believe how narrow the roads are there. Interesting how there are pull offs every so often to let the other vehicle go by you. Beautiful countryside.

Hi Trev and Sue, I’d like your thoughts on doing the NC 500 with a twin axle caravan. I would take my time and spend a number of days at the various sites.

Colin there is a large part of the NC500 that you could do and there are sections that you wouldn’t attempt. Being an 8 or 9 metre Motorhome is about the limit when considering the narrow sections although we did see some big trucks and coaches on some narrow sections. With careful planning you can do significant sections with a twinny. We saw them on route but the journey will be pretty slow so I think if it were me, I would target parts of the Scotland NC500 to visit and then pick a couple of sites with good access. From those sites you can drive and explore with the car. The key thing is finding the right sites and not trying to do a road trip and site seeing whilst towing. 👍🏻🙂 Trev

It’s not a one way road but much of it only has space for one vehicle so there are frequent passing spaces. We have a NextBase 212 which is quite basic but does the job 😁 thanks so much for watching 👍🏻 Trev

If you go clockwise the passenger has a better view of the coast. We prefer it but there’s really no difference. I would never try and do all the NC500 in one go either. There’s too much to see. Thanks for watching 😁 Trev
