Why can’t these two coaches say it what it is? Womens basketball is having bigger audience because mainly of Caitlin Clark. These two coaches who have been building women's basketball throughout these years but have not achieved this bigger audience now. Social media was present in society for a long time now. But they have not drawn bigger audience. It is what coach Bluder and Caitlin Clark did (not packaging it) which was to show womens basketball is entertaining and not only those being produced by these two coaches. Geno is really jealous and bitter that coach Bluder and Caitlin Clark has ignited bigger audience of which only him can dream of.

No one else in the history of basketball has made as many points as Caitlin Clark though, Coach Geno. You needed to add that to your talk. Curious if I'm understanding u correctly, along w/ I've heard CC say?!?! That CC chose to go to Iowa State, b/c though it was a smaller College, she knew she'd have the opportunity to play more & obviously grow more & start?! I'm from Canada 🇨🇦 SO I'm knew to Women's Basketball & have only started watching in Canada hearing oths speak about how amazing CC is playing!!! I can c why it must be easy more challenging when recruiting. I'm STILL learning about CC's journey as a College player!!! @@tammyboon6259 As I understand it, CC was planning to go to Notre Dame because of the great pipeline of guards that had made it to the wnba. and ND had won a few titles. Then the long time coach retired, and CC pivoted to Iowa. I could be wrong, but I do not think CC had any interest in leaving the midwest. At the time CC was a Sr in HS, all the rave was Paige, who will be playing in her final season next year for Geno.

Why do they not stand up for Caitlin Clark and say that it is not just Angel Reese getting torn apart by social media? That is the reason people feel so protective of Caitlin... people can see she is focused on basketball and she stays out of all the mean social media. But people still try to ruin her. So much gets put on Caitlin's shoulders to the point she is suppose to try to stop racial and social problems in the WNBA. What else are they going to ask her to solve... World Peace?

do you really think a stacked team this is always stacked is all of a sudden going to grow the audience? They're not. Why watch UConn or South Carolina until the tourney? They're going to dominate year in and year out, and if Paige B was from Connecticut but not the top prospect, she won't be recruited by Geno. Iowa drove the numbers up because they found a phenomenal talent from inside Iowa and BAM their fanbase exploded. and the numbers skyrocketed EVERYWHERE they went. They are both right about the transfer portal. It's now far too easy for kids to leave on a whim. Importantly, most fans pay close attention to, and love, team unity, cohesion & loyalty, as they track the growth of "their" team's player's personalities & court game through their progression from freshmen to seniors. Mark This: If this conveyor belt transfer system is not soon significantly restricted, resulting in certain further decline of team cohesion mentioned above, fan enthusiasm & support will eventually begin to wane.

I thought both coaches made excellent points, it just depends on how the viewers are comprehending what they are saying, they hear what they want to hear. What they shied away from is what everyone avoids when talking about the W and that is the LGBTQ/social justice narrative that the W continues to shove down people's throats. Geno was correct when he mentioned that the Olympics do not need a drawing card and Coach Mulkey was correct when she said the 12 best players should be selected. You can bet there will be a few tweaks to that process forthcoming. For me personally I have never bought into professional players participating in the Olympics, it was more exciting watching the amateurs/college players. @@kayelisejay18 Thank you for the response. Its an important conversation. KIM giving enought credit? Maybe, Geno - no credit is given, He backs his players NOT the growth of the game. - But right now, there is a huge split, and it doesn't feel good at all. Im not here because of the final four, or a player who decided to act unsportsmen-like, or some rivalry, NO I'm here because of one player 'CC' who brought me back with her style of play. I have not met one of my friends (Former players or/and coaches) these NEW fans who buy into what they're saying - that we are here for any other reason. - I don't care about Chicago or Phoenix - I like watching great basketball. And yes there are amazing women players. Now that I'm here, I'm learning about all of them. But many - their poor attitude turns me off 100% from the WNBA as a whole. The decision to treat one player with such disrespect is truly amazing and shocking! I'm not alone - my sports bars and fellow coaches are upset with how CC has been treated. Thats real. And these two coaches know its real. They could heal the divide? or They can,, in this interview forsake and talk around CC in-front of the world.

Gino's acting like social media didn't exist almost 20 years ago with Facebook. Social media was super mainstream by 2012. Yet women's hoops wasn't nearly as big today. The correct answer is that fans found a player they loved to watch: Caitlin Clark.

Yea!!! I was a little surprised by Gino's answer. It also bothers that Angel Reese was being treated as a victim of social media, when she herself has CONT'D TO PUT HERSELF OUT THERE!!!!! She doesn't wants to talk to Media only when it's on her term & it's positive about her!!!! The lack of accountability & professionalism in the WNBA is a staggering!!!! I DO however agree w/ Gino when he said, 'U either get EXPOSURE or you get EXPOSED?!' The WNBA is definitely getting EXPOSED!!!

It took 54 years for a player, any player, to break Pete's points record, and it was NOT a man but a woman who broke his point record. These two coaches make the mistake of lumping Caitlin in with other players. Caitlin is unique. She alone guarantees a sell out every time she plays regardless of where she plays. No other player can do that. Caitlin has unique skills no other player has that is why she alone rewrote the college record book, every record was re-broken by Caitlin. She is as unique today as Maravich was in his time.

I get your point. CC's bread and butter is her logo 3's that practices everyday so of course you gon perfect it. But I get what Geno said. To be honest people wasn't focused on making 3's from the logo back in the day but now they are. Once again it's levels to it. Geno has put a lot of talented players in W just as well as Kim that won championships at two programs. Iowa has CC that didn't win any championships but she scored a lot of points and brought the fans to the game which is amazing.

Cmon, let’s be logical here. The most points in college basketball is the most overrated record. You have greats like Lebron and Kobe that didn’t play college, went straight to professional and dominated. Imagine if Lebron was forced to play 4 years college what his career points would’ve been. The good men players go straight to pro, women have to completed college eligibility or be 4 years removed from high school.

What amazed me the most is how these two basketball giants were entirely unable to understate moment in women basketball. Their ability to extend their perspective and to provide insight is absolutely zero. I can say with confidence that they understand nothing about what the Caitlin Clark moment is about. Just as they probably did not understand what was going on at the time with Bird and Magic or MJ. To penetrate into the moment you must understand the history of sports in the past 2000 years, back to Athens, to understand philosophy, aesthetics, psychology, and a bunch of other disciplines. So shallow and disappointing.

Caitlin Clark and her effect negated their perspective. They skirt the Caitlin Clark effect because she did what their elite programs could not accomplish. As an Iowa Hawkeye fan it was a huge blessing because she wore a Hawkeye uniform. Pete maravich took over 600 more shots in one less season.

I honestly think these coaches and Caitlin Clark detractors think that all these new fans watching the WNBA are coming from Iowa. Yes, Iowa fans have followed Caitlin Clark but her fanbase is country wide and I have even seen thousands following her from various countries around the globe too. Caitlin is special and exciting to watch and people like Geno refuse to acknowledge it. Why? resentment, jealousy.... And Kim - Caitlin is Michael Jordon and Steph Curry and Tiger Woods and Serena Williams. She is elevating the sport to new heights. She is carrying the WNBA on her back right now!
