@@michaeltakahashi3468 Agreed. My heart goes out to all the ladies. Not only on my favorite team, but on all the programs. As a parent of a collegiate athlete it’s heartbreaking to see a young person like that but I hope in time they can always remember how special it was to be able to play as long as they did. There are only a so many dribbles, so many snaps, so many laps or swings in whatever sport one plays and they got to play at a great level longer than most. But most importantly the found a sisterhood that will last a lifetime. I couldn’t be prouder of these young women.

Aliyah Boston was well-versed and gracious during the postgame conference, showing why she is truly a unique individual who excels in both athletics and academics. No matter who it is, it takes a special person to accomplish what she has as a student athlete. @yumpladukfoo It wasn’t the best outcome I would have hoped for as a fanand I can’t speak on the Clowney situation because for him it a shrewd business decision especially when you consider that was around the same time as Marcus Lattimore…as far as these ladies, some that I have had privilege of watching for years, some I have had the privilege of interacting with I could never be embarrassed by what they have to both the game and the university. Greener pastures is a bit of a misnomer as the WNBA is not the windfall that the NFL is and they will probably earn more as collegians then as a professional on a per bases. They were the one who sacrificed and gave their blood, sweat and tears many of unseen hours while I got to proudly sit and cheer. I couldn’t be more proud of these women.

Yes. And she's got that James Harden step back 3 pointer. Except that she steps to the left when she stops. I call it a walk as they are taking a step without dribbling which is only allowed on a layup. But, if they allow it in the NBA, they should allow it here also. Iowa has at least 4 great 3-point shooters. And more frightening for opponents, Clark is third on her team in terms of percentage on 3-pointers!

Heartbroken to say the least. I had a bad feeling about this game all week. And rightfully so we did not execute whatsoever. Kierra was a complete non factor. Brea didn’t play well at all on the offensive side of the ball especially when we needed her. Aliyah couldn’t get going either. Kamilla showed up and balled. Zia absolutely played her heart out once again in a final four game. She just wouldn’t let us lose. Idk which final four loss hurts more this one or Stanford. But I think this one takes the cake. Mainly because this will be the last game we see of the freshies. This 2019 recruiting class will go down as one of the best ever. And I’m proud to have witnessed it. They turned a 18 year old who just wanted to watch some basketball into a die hard gamecock fan. Congratulations to Iowa you have a generational talent. Appreciate you as always Robbie🐐

What the hell was Beal doing on the floor for 35 whole minutes?! She was a complete liability for SC the entire game. She didn’t want to shoot the ball on the offensive end, and looked like she had cinder blocks on her feet on the defensive end. I don’t understand how she was a defensive player of the year finalist, but she wasn’t the primary defender on Clark. If she wasn’t going to be a threat offensively, the least she could’ve did was take the Clark assignment personal and brought some energy defensively. Beal’s lack of intensity and leadership as a senior at this level is 1000% the reason SC lost that game last night. 3 points on 1-9 shooting with 1 rebound, 1 assist, and 5 fouls in 35 minutes of play is just embarrassing. Amihere and Hall deserved those minutes. Probably would’ve made a difference. They at least made it more difficult for Clark.

I loved watching Iowa and UConn play as well, but they didn’t match this one. Championship could have been an all time classic too, but refs got a little too involved on one team. Calling the Technical on Clark, but never on Mulkey, showed plenty of issues. 5 fouls called on Iowa before LSU had even 1 to start the game and 14/19 Iowa fouls were on their top 3 scorers. Yeah, kinda fishy. The refs ruined a game that could have been entertaining as hell from a spectator perspective. Can’t take away Carson’s 3’s, girl came to play.

@@sarahcarr5275I’m not a person that likes shit talking, but I understand it’s a thing in sports. Reese’s antics were bad. Very unsportsmanlike. All the pundits who never watched a game claimed Clark did the same thing, which was inherently false from the start. I find it funny that Van Lith has since corrected people on it, so the “they are the same” argument was crap. The two UConn greats calling the game hated those actions too, you could tell on their faces before they said anything. I never saw on replay or anything, but I heard there were reports that LSU players didn’t shake Iowa player’s hands after the game. That’s not very sportsmanlike either. The disrespecting South Carolina stance was all-time stupid too. Who gets upset about another team beating the team that skunked you? I’d be happy I wouldn’t have to play them again when they play the same style you do at a more elite level. Iowa having a game plan that forced South Carolina to beat them with their weakest level of play is just good coaching, and South Carolina wasn’t bad in that style of play really either. Some fans are just flat out dumb.

Amazing that Iowa won despite the refs not calling about 20 obvious fouls, being totally outnumbered with subs and much less depth, the HUGE height disadvantage, SC being defensively superior, SC being massively superior on the boards, and probably a half dozen other disadvantages. Even with all those factors working against them, Iowa STILL won. Massively embarrassing loss for SC, and such poor coaching and defense played against the best player in the game.

I could tell that SC was in trouble in the beginning when I saw Brea Beal refuse to shoot even though she was wide open on the side. She did this in many of the previous games where they were scoring inside. So, I thought the plan was to lull future teams into thinking they wouldn't shoot but then change the plan and start shooting from outside in the final 2 games against the better teams. Can you imagine Clark or any of Iowa's starting 5 seeing the defender back up 10 feet from them and not shooting? Iowa knew Beal and others wouldn't shoot medium or long shots, so they backed up and clogged up the paint. SC couldn't get the ball inside. So essentially, it was 5 Iowa players against the 2 or 3 SC players in the paint or close to the basket for most of the game. Iowa ignored any SC player on the outside except for Zia Cooke. Eventually, Raven Johnson started taking advantage of the space in front of her but it was too late by then. I hope SC now sees that they have to spend more time working on their long shooting during the summer like most top teams today. 3 point shooting is getting much better across all leagues. A 3 will always beat a 2 if you are just trading baskets.
@audriwilliams7943

I was surprised Coach Staley didn’t make the adjustment. When Raven started hitting 3s Clarke started guarding her out there vs daring her to shoot like earlier in the game. Think Staley should’ve encouraged them to keep shooting those open 3s because they were getting so many offensive rebounds, they would’ve started making those 3s eventually case in point Raven… drawing the defense out of the paint so SC can play their inside game like usual

I never realized how quick Clarke was until this game. SC needs to incorporate 3 pt shooting. They are not an offensive threat from 3 and Iowa knew that. @@whugh9873 Precisely. Even though I was of the camp hoping they doubled with height and put Beal on their 2nd best ball handler, there is a style that can be defeated by another and this is the style that can beat this team, that being a team of 3pt shooters that can also rebound, much the reason Stanford challenges us.

Come on SC fans, you were yelling about how UConn fans were whining and making excuses when they lost, now you're doing the same thing. Come on now. The expectation was that SC would win; they had size, depth, strength, the momentum, so of course they were favored. That's a lot of weight for players to carry. Plus, the young women of SC had the weight of the expectation of their fan base to carry. A lot was put on this SC team.

This was a great game. Don't blame this one on the officiating, though not great it was far better than the Championship game. Major players on both sides had to spend time on the bench and the fouls were pretty even. What cost SC the game was their inability to understand and defend the give and go. Iowa flipped the script. It turned into a situation where SC was having to explain how they were going to have to respond to Iowa's coaching and better team play. This was devastating to watch live. I realized we would lose around the third quarter after LA brought the team within reason during the second and somehow during the start of the second half brea beal and saxton were back in… No offense to beal, usually she’s able to do her thing or AT LEAST something but this game was just frustrating to watch. Seeing her stand around the court like a ghost was frustrating, watching her try to force a layup into an already packed paint was frustrating, seeing her pass up ANY attempt at a three point or even mid range shot bc that’s how open she was, was frustrating. I can definitely agree with ppl when they say Dawn was outcoached. She let seniority and favoritism affect her want to win. At some point I thought I could’ve taken her place and done a better job. Even worse, Fletcher absolutely dumbfounded me, she was useless but at least Dawn didn’t keep her on the floor too long. Seeing LA work and hustle for rebounds and put backs was definitely a sight to see and if she came back for her fifth year it’d definitely make sense to see her starting. LA guarded Clark one time and with that one time, got a steal, after that she was magically switched onto an Iowa teammate who was virtually nonexistent. WHY DAWN??? At that moment I felt she must’ve been paid to the rig the game, there was no other way she didn’t see the defensive effort and WANT to win from LA?!? There was no way she didn’t see the laziness and nerves basically JUMPING off of Beal. Zia cooke did her thing, at the end, seeing her cry it rlly broke my heart. She was the only starting 5 that wanted to win (I can’t even speak on what happened w Boston) and it definitely showed because at the end she was the only one crying and everyone else is comforting her??? That was weird to me… YOU should be crying too. SMFH. Cardoso did her thing, there’s nothing rlly to say. 7/7 fg% was it? Regardless, even as a junior, she knew what this game meant and what it would do for Gamecock history. Zia, LA, Cardoso, Hall, and Johnson… THAT should’ve been the starting five tonight. I’m definitely disappointed in Staley.

I'm extremely disappointed in what I saw take place on Friday night. This isn't the SC team that had an answer 4 every situation. I was waiting 4 Coach Staley 2 press clark by doubling her b4 she could get down the floor. I thought they'd take the ball out of her hand. Never happened. I thought Coach Staley would keep LA on her after she ripped the ball from clark. I thought Amihere played would've given her more trouble cuz of her length and she played with more desire.Beal seemed a bit jittery ~even offensively as well. We shot poorly with the exception of Zia Cooke who has always been fearless on the big stage ! Cardoso I thought was spectacular doing what she normally does. Now 4 iowa fans talking about the fouls we got away ...clark extended her arm pushiing Bree Hall right in front of the refs...no call. Neither side will be satisfied with calls / no-calls when it comes 2 fouls. I disgress still with clark's 41 points; Boston w/ the 2 early fouls and playing tentative when on the court.. there was still a chance 4 SC 2 win. Those turnovers in the end were crucial. But that didn't lose them the game cuz they shouldn't have been in that position anyway. Usually Coach Staley makes the right adjustments makes the right call the players execute the game plan but none of that happened. With all that said I'm ride or die Coach Staley #gamecockwbb #fam thru & thru. I'm looking 4ward 2 cn our new recruits & next yr's team already ! #forever2thee❤🖤🐔🤙🏾

Staley has the same ride or die attitude with Beal and that is why SC lost. Amihere or Hall on the court for 35 minutes like Beal and it is a different game. 35 min Beal, 15 min Amihere, 7 min Hall. @@Dingle051554 I definitely agree Amihere was probably the better match up especially after clark blew by Beal at least 3x. I was baffled as 2 why Coach Staley didn't call a timeout 2 make an adjustment there. I agree with u that was a huge mistake. At that time they still had a chance 2 win the game...so ur probably right about her showing 2 much loyalty 2 Beal. But Aliyah Boston & Brea Beal may be ok on the next level cuz Aliyah won't receive the dbl and triple teams in the WNBA. As 4 Brea Beal she'll have 2 improve her lateral quickness defensively 2 deal with the speedier guards in the 'W'. That is interesting. SC's shooting isn't anywhere near Iowa's level. But Iowa only won by 4 with SC's best player watching from the bench for half the game, 2 of their other starters AWOL and Clark repeating her 40 point performance. I wonder what that means if SC gets shooters next year?

@David U act like it's an exaggeration ...they usually r bigger more powerful and outrebound their opponents. Fact is they outrebounded iowawbb 49-25 but other factors led 2 them losing. They shot poorly from the field and at the FT line. Defensively they didn't dbl clark b4 she could get up the floor. Brea Beal played below her avg offensively and defensively~she just picked the wrong time 2 have a bad game. I could say the same thing about Aliyah Boston..Raven bn a freshmen 2 didn't play with the same confidence. The only 2 who didn't let the big stage affect them were Zia Cooke and Kamilla Cardoso. With that said, clark's 41 points still was barely enough. But u just have 2 tip ur hat 2 them they beat us this time. * I'm only replying because u act like they didn't come in2 the game undefeated. Evidently the formula had been working up since last season. They r the 2022 National Champions. But Friday vs iowawbb they didn't meet their usual standard.*

I was at the game. SC where the hell were your Fams? This was a home game for Iowa. American Airlines center was packed with Iowa fans. Then I’m surprised at the bad coaching job by Staley. Inastute comment !! SC picked their poison and stuck with it. SC took away IOWAs perimeter shooting, Gabby Marshall & Kate Martin, probably with the proved to be false belief that their defensive perimeter players could handle Clark one-on-one. IOWA"s high post offense forced Boston to stop Clark's drives and let Czinano roll to the basket; their wasn't weak side help because the threat of Martin/Marshall in the corners. Lisa Bluder WON the coaching battle and Clark has ice water in her veins but without having Four players that all shoot 39-40% from 3 the plan would not have worked.

Reminds me if that superbowl with the Broncos and panthers that people remember for Cam and the fumble but I remember for the offense never adjusting to Von Miller. Remind me of the game before state where our HS coaches never adjusted we didn't even see them at halftime, 1st time that happened in 4 years. The Virginia Tech game, Tech was up big, Lsu grabbed some momentum and was coming back. Tech start jacking up threes ignoring their 6'6" big with a fade away from hell. All the coach had to do was call timeout and say calm down get the ball to Kitley and they win. He called a timeout when LSU got the lead or was a possession away. Like who do that? A Mexican coach and black quarterback was close to being called the greatest team ever. The NFL was like hell no, they still was a one lose regular season team but they'll see forgotten Ina history. Staley 3rd ring, undefeated season and possibly the greatest defense ever, nah let's go with the legend of CC and then the resurrection of LSU. I guess I'll just coach lil league basketball and that will be my sports.

So many ‘silly’ fouls given to Iowa specially that last one where Czinano was called for just standing there in the paint but pushes, shoves and wrap arounds by S.C. Treated with kid gloves and not one call on that… Iowa should’ve won by at least 16 points if not for those ‘greased out’ refs… Shame on them. And Zia Cook started the game ‘thinking’ “hey, we’ve been undefeated for 42 games, so what’s another one..”?? well, cry me a South Carolina River girl because this is Iowa and Caitlin Clark’s Land baby… Buuhuu!! that and that awful pick and roll defense. I was there... It felt like I was in an episode of the Twilight Zone. we Knew CC would do her thing, but Czinano played the game of her life... she had at least 14 points off of dives to the basket because of our awful pick and roll defense.. Our lack of shooting early on didn't help either. I probably won't get over this game for awhile. I got over the Stanford game in 2021 eventually, but this 2023 Final Four....yeesh..
