What a competition! On the one hand i'm happy that Mizzou will go to nationals. They had a great season and deserve to compete there. On the other hand i'm really sad that UCLA didnt qualify. They really looked great at the end of the season so they would have deserved it as well. So mixed feelings after that competition. I'm not happy with all of the scores but couldnt tell if one team had a scoring advantage. So congrats to Mizzou and I hope UCLA will pull it together and return stronger next year.

Well there’s so many underscored routines on UCLA that I can’t talk bout all cause it will take to much time. But Frida’s Esparza 9.75 is just stupidly low. How on earth? That’s clearly a 9.85 at least. And yes she starts from a 10
@tonismarr63242 жыл бұрын

@AM-xj1fw2 жыл бұрын
Not sure how that's clearly a 9.85? - Overrotation on full turn - Shoulder down out of acro series - Lean out of split jump - Shy of 180 on switch half - Balance check before beat jump - Hop back on landing Granted, the routine LOOKS a lot better than a 9.75 because most of those leans and balance checks were barely perceptible, but those are legitimate deductions that were being taken all night on beam unfortunately.

@@AM-xj1fw how last gymnast score was a 9.9?
@AM-xj1fw2 жыл бұрын
@@kjwilchcombe1281 I’m not sure what you’re talking about? If you’re referring to Amari Celestine on floor, each event has different judges. I won’t say I agree with all the floor scores, but it’s clear that the beam scoring was tighter for every team, and the floor scoring was looser for every team (as a whole; not talking about individuals). Natalie Wojcik (15:20) had a 9.85 on beam this meet, and that routine was perfect aside from the slight underrotation and hop back on the dismount (also legitimate deductions). You can argue that other events may have been overscored, but for beam specifically, judges were taking every deduction they could for every gymnast, not just UCLA.
@tomasduarte66332 жыл бұрын
Can someone explain me how Ana's beam was a 9.8
@SuAva2 жыл бұрын
No. The beam judges were strict the entire meet (which is not necessarily a bad thing), but if you compare the scores of UCLA on beam with the rest compared to the quality of their beam routines with the rest, the judging just doesn't add up. This honestly feels fixed.
@erinmccargar76072 жыл бұрын
I was wondering about that.. it's possible that they hit her hard on the dismount. .05 hop, .05 pike down. .05 directional error. Which would give 9.85. I'm not sure where the other 0.5 would have been (maybe not hitting a split on her jump?) But it's true, beam scores were really harsh all night. Natalie wokcik had a visually perfect routine with a hop on landing and got a 9.85 🤷🏻♀️
@mariahazcueta36212 жыл бұрын
They also weren’t sticking. UCLA gave up a lot of tenths just for not sticking. They got beat
@tomasduarte66332 жыл бұрын
@@mariahazcueta3621 it's not about getting beat, I'm over that, it's just about that particular routine that got a ridiculously low score

She had a significant hop to the side on the dismount, so I'm guessing she was deducted for the hop and also for being off direction on the skill.

while i’ve always rooted for ucla, they just found their footing way too late in the season to be able to go far to nattys. missouri is such an underrated team and they outperformed ucla, despite any controversial judging- we know gymnastics is subjective and we cannot diss miz. for scoring higher than the bruins.
@ShinyJewels042 жыл бұрын
THANK YOU. some of these bitter comments saying Missouri didn’t deserve it are just plain wrong. personally I think UCLA got too comfortable by the end of the meet & didn’t pay attention to details, especially with beam, which cost them in the end. it’s a bummer for them, but going as far as to say that the competition was rigged is not just rude but is also incorrect (not to mention that Missouri was ranked higher than UCLA as a team coming into Regionals anyway… but haters are gonna hate I guess 🤷🏼♀️)
@saitierus.50232 жыл бұрын
@@ShinyJewels04 Guess we’re just gonna ignore the scoring on vault for missouri too. Some of those vaults did not deserve those scores, with those janky pike downs and barely any height off the table. I don’t want to hate on mizzou, I really don’t. I’ve been rooting for them all season. but this judging is just… idk. I know I should be more upset with the judging system, but I can’t help but let that bleed into my opinions on the teams. She actually chose not to compete those events. While, I am not going to voice my opinion on the behavior of many of the UCLA team members throughout the present season, I will question how anyone can defend Flatley opting out of two important rotations because of "mental health" reasons. If you are unwilling to contribute to the team during a final, especially as one the select few team members receiving a $200,000 education for free, than maybe you should give up your spot to someone who would recognize the value.

I believe the spot go to whichever team had the highest rotation score. So if let's say Mizzou's Amari Celestine got only a 9.90, ucla and mizzou would have the same floor total (49.550), so then it would the second highest rotation score, so UCLA's bars score tops any of mizzou's event scores, not counting the floor scores. I'm not sure thought. It could be highest total counting all 6 scores on each event.

Disregarding the harsh beam judging for UCLA... Amari Celestine (Missouri floor #6): Slide back on full-in: -0.05 Low chest on full-in: -0.05 Slide back/lifting up foot on double tuck, if being strict: -0.05 Even without the OOB (which is honestly not clear from the video), Celestine should've scored 9.90 MAX. This competition was rigged. I take solace in knowing that Missouri is not likely to make it past semifinals at nationals.
