ncdu is always my number one tip for "uncommon" or lesser known linux tools. So useful!

Thank you Master Ermanno, I usually do a quick glance with "duf", these options add up nicely on that.

There's also gdu, which is like ncdu but with colors.

One of the best terminal apps. It should be installed by default in every Linux distro. I can easily remove crap that some apps leave after they are uninstalled and now I can easly check the size of the Steam files without clicking like dozen of icons. :D

Hey ermano, I don't know which shell you use, but if you are using bash then For moving to beginning of line in bash I use 'ctrl + a'.

Hi Ermanno, maybe you could consider making a playlist including all videos such as this one(explaining utils, the kernel, partitioning etc.)?

I prefer `lsblk -f` to `df`, because it filters out virtual filesystems and has a handy tree view

Ermonno why does the arch wiki suggest 512m for efi when it never uses that much? I use 300m never had an issue. So is there an actual understanding as to why ?
@Goldman5800
@Goldman5800 3 жыл бұрын
If you use efi partition also as a boot partition when 512 mb may not be enough.

You can use less storage if you want, but you can have issues if too many things be written in the boot partition. The first time I installed arch I was using the EFI partition that Windows created during its installation process (100MB). Everything went fine till the moment I tried to use a custom grub theme. Then it warned me that there was no space left in the partition to install the theme.

@@Goldman5800 sir I do and it is way more than enough, when you enter -- efi-target= grub or whatever you call it it is an entry to the bios cashe.

Microsoft breaks grub it has zero to do with grub and dual booting their loader for efi isn't even close to Arch Linux. The grub config is quite small it is a text file. Booting with Microsoft yes you have to do a much larger because it stores Microsofts booting info which is very large. Best to get a hot swap bay for those that insist on using the very thing that is trying to destroy opensorce! It is by design to kill your install on a Microsoft update!

I did everything and yet I couldn't make arch work it's getting frustrating it even made me suspect that I am so stupid that I can't make it work last time after I thought I finally got it to work I was surprised that os-prober telling me your windows os will not work in dual-boot so I wiped it and get back to linux mint this think is hard to make it work but I won't give up someday I'll make it work and I will laugh at my mistakes.
