@@TheTrainFreak so after I do that and it all works do I have to reprogram the engine again to go back to normal use ?
@TheTrainFreak Жыл бұрын
No, in the consisting buttons, delete the two or more locomotives from the consist, then clear the consist number that was created. When you delete the locomotives, it resets CV 19 back to 0 which is the Consisting Address that overrides the locomotive's address. NCE does some intelligent code that when you put in your locomotive number, if it is assigned to a consist, NCE will convert the locomotive address to the consist address. I can do a later video on that if you'd like.

Jason now I need a lesson on programming using NCE
@TheTrainFreak Жыл бұрын

Jason Thats how I use to setup my consists but now with my Tsunami 2 decoders I use advanced consist settings CV19 is the consist number CV I just change that CV from zero to the consist number if the engine is in reverse then add 128 to the consist number Example consist number is 20 and the rear engine is in reverse 20 + 128 = 148 so thats the value for CV 19
@TheTrainFreak Жыл бұрын
That's what I do but it's something I wouldn't teach to a beginner unless you want to run them away from DCC or even model trains. Programming CVs can be very intimidating.
@joeraderblackrockcentralrr Жыл бұрын
WOW Iam doing it right
@TheTrainFreak Жыл бұрын
It is the easiest way but not the best way IMO, however; they do say that if it's not broken, don't fix it.
@HumancityJunction Жыл бұрын
Out of curiosity, you said you use a different method of consisting. What do you use?
@TheTrainFreak Жыл бұрын
I program my CV values accordingly as different ones will allow you to control sound features such as manual notching through all the locomotives rather than just the head unit. The basic way that I showed just allows you to get them to move but that's about it.
@HumancityJunction Жыл бұрын
@@TheTrainFreak so CV19 method?
@TheTrainFreak Жыл бұрын
For Soundtraxx decoders, I use CV 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 245, 246, and 247. I don't use any other brand of decoders since not all of them tend for follow NMRA standards across the whole board.
@sparky107107 Жыл бұрын
ok,, so now show us how YOU consist your loco's. You said you don't do it that way
@TheTrainFreak Жыл бұрын
Correct, I do mine in an advanced way by manually programming CVs 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 245, 246, and 247 respectively on each locomotive that is going in my consist. I do that so I can use specific sound features such as manual notching where it is triggered on all locomotives and not just on the head unit. I also keep my locos to one manufacturer as trying to do it my way with multiple brands might not be possible. It would be a rather lengthy video but I can do it if you would like to see.
