The two ninja dogs that accompany Sai can also talk because he gives them nicknames and is then in return scolded by the ninja dogs for doing so. to give you a timeline for when this happens it is either right before or during the Dedera vs Sasuke fight.

Each summoning has different conditions for summoning Most have an personality so it could either refuse you or make ur life difficult. Heck Tenten didn't make a summoning with that turtle because it insulted her Also, it takes Chakra to do so, depending on where and how big. That's why Lady Katsuya can only be summoned a bit Thirdly, it's very possible that most ninjas actually have summoning but they aren't as impressive as the ones we've seen. Summonings with an ego are rare and most aren't good for some people's fighting style. Others have summonings for specifically things like spy missions so we just never see them And we have seen like 1hr worth of summoning so I reckon it's been explored well enough

The Gedo Statue's life force drain was not inconsistent, it was a process known as Synchronization. The Gedo Statue, to be used fully as a weapon, needed someone to synchronize with it (as Obito noted after Nagato's death, as he wanted Sasuke to synchronize with it). In the case of Obito and Madara, Obito using it as a summon to fight Choji and Choza had it have 7 of the 9 tailed beasts, so it had quite a bit io juice in it. This allowed Obito to not have to worry about synchronizing with it. In the case of Madara, one of two possibilities are at play- 1) Madara had already synchronized with the statue by using it as a form of life support 2) Madara didn't need to synchronize with it as he immediately sealed the tailed beasts back into it, giving it back its power.

I think the reason behind why Nagato had to share his life force or "Chakra" by being pierced by chakra rods when he summoned the Gedo Statue might be because it needs chakra or needs to be powered up by the summoner to function. Nagato summoned the Ten tails Husk before Akatsuki was founded . So, the Husk didn't have any tailed beast captured or stored in it. But when Madara or Obito summoned it in the War it didn't need any extra life force because it already had 6-7 tailed beasts captured inside it.

YES, Lady Katsuyu is underrated. Splitting your body up into a million sentient forms is a powerful ability. Giant Multi-headed dog has a similar power and is the strongest rinnegan summoning. And that dog didn't even show any long-ranged healing abilities.

31:24 I figured out why sasuke can summon multiple types. It was the tip off he was going to get the Rinnegan. Only the animal path of the 6 pains was ever shown to have more than one animal and before Sasuke got 5he Rinnegan i had noticed he had 2 summons and thought it was a possibility.

My fav summoning was the giant bee from that filler near the end of Naruto. My fav clan was always the Aburame so the bee keeper clan were a neat twist on what the Aburame do. Plus that was basically the only bug summoning jutsu I can remember and I think bugs are cool. Out of the canon summonings, Manda 2 has a neat design and forshadows that Kabuto wants to be a dragon. Snake sage mode is my fav of all the sage modes
