NCL Breakfast Food 2022 (Buffet, MDR, O'Sheehans) on Norwegian Star

See what the breakfast food options for an NCL cruise, including the buffet, main dining room (MDR) & O'Sheehan's Neighborhood Bar & Grill. Menus for the latter two venues are included. These were from our June 2022 cruise on the Norwegian Star. All the food you see are complimentary- included with your cruise fare.
Buffet breakfast at the Garden Café runs from 5 AM to 11 AM, MDR breakfast goes from 7 to 9 AM, while O'Sheehan's has it from 530 AM to 11AM. Norwegian Cruise Line no longer has smoked salmon at the buffet, but you can order it at the main dining room.

Love the sit down breakfast. I ordered a half order of a Eggs Benedict five of the seven days! Service for me was super quick though they did require me to remove my Sun hat probably worried about a head bomb😮

I loved their breakfast for 4 days i had waffles, biscuits and gravy,hash brown, bacon, sausage,bagels and others stuf i enjoyed their breakfast cant wait til next year.

I’m totally with you on this. Even my local hospital replaced its food service with a Starbucks. Costco’s Kirkland brand coffee is roasted by Starbucks! Lousy coffee, I’m over it. There are so many better coffee vendors out there.

BREAKFAST BONUS TIP, please share! Not everything at the buffet (or the MDR for that matter) is as hot as you may like. In particular the biscuits and the hash brown patties. BUT you can put them on the conveyor toasters just like your bread and heat them up! It might work for other things but you may get a dirty look if you try something like bacon. It can bring back the crunch on the patties a bit. A word of caution; few people and hardly any of the staff know how to adjust those things for the right darkness of your toast. There's a dial you can turn that speeds up or slows down the conveyor. It should at least be in the middle to start with (dial straight up) if you find it either all the way down or up, which some people will do. Try a sample pass and then change it as you deem fit, hardly anybody else will know. I found one where it was burning everything, way too slow. Everyone thought it was broke, and smoke was rolling out of it. I sped it up and the lady next to me was just amazed I know that. I mean come on, it's s toaster!!! Go figure. Enjoy!

I used to wait tables and we had to toast the bread (we had a lot of breakfast foods) using a conveyer toaster. I never thought to do that with hash browns.

Love your meal videos. I’ve never cruised on NCL but I thought about it in the 80s when they had a basketball cruise because my son loved basketball still does. I wasn’t impressed with the buffet offerings but the main dining room looked fine just not as good as the Cunard. Also liked that there was a restaurant open until 11 AM for breakfast. How was the French toast? That’s what I usually order or smoked salmon. The omelettes looked a bit over cooked for my taste, Aloha

Yeah I never had grits till moving to the south in the USA and my thoughts about it is that it is like Farina, but all corn bits! I get it with cheese mixed in. Waffle House diners in the south serve either grits or string hash browns. Grits is NOT hominy!

Royal Caribbean is better at the buffet & main dining room. NCL doesn't even have lobster at the main dining room for any length of cruises. NCL does have good comfort food offerings at O'Sheehan's which we'll show in the coming week. Thanks for the question! 🙂

I dunno what their story is, but it is very possible that they are travel agents for several cruise lines. If that’s the case, then they are encouraged to book cruises, because that’s part of the job. And because it’s part of the job, then they get great perks which makes it incredibly affordable. For the rest of us, cruising is not terribly expensive if you know where look and how to book. Having a good travel agent who specializes in cruises has been really helpful to me, because they have a relationship with whatever cruise lines they book for.

@@TravelTouristVideos Okay, that’s good to hear. Yes, I remember when I went on my first cruise how amazed I was at all you get for the money. There is no way you’re gonna travel to that many destinations by plane, pay for all that food, plus hotels, plus entertainment and excursions for the same price as a cruise. There’s no way. The airfare alone would cost several thousand. Then add all your meals, probably another $100 or so per day. By the time it’s all over, you’ve spent 8 or 10 thousand dollars, whereas with a cruise, you wake up in a new port every morning, eat all the delicious food you can handle, and enjoy included entertainment for maybe two or 3 thousand. The ship is your hotel, your restaurants, your transportation, and your fun, relaxation and entertainment all for that one low price. I always feel like a kid in a candy store when I’m on a cruise. The amount of food I eat while on board would cost more on land, and probably cost as much as the cruise itself.

The buffet breakfast seemed (at best) unimpressive, and every cruise I’ve ever been on seems to have a slow MDR breakfast. Therefore, next year on Sun, I’ll begrudgingly do the buffet or hit the hopefully non-crowded O’ Sheehan’s. As NCL now charges for Room Service, that will only be on days we want to get an early start in port.

We definitely enjoyed O'Sheehans- will be doing a video on its snack food in the next week. Yes MDR breakfast is usually slow on most cruises, though we've been on some where we got our order within 15 minutes in a busy dining room. This one was silly because there was literally just two other tables. Probably an anomaly but we didn't go again for MDR breakfast the rest of the cruise. Thanks for the comment! 🙂

The Pearl is a similar ship and the Russian Palice mdr was on the rear of the ship and their crew was very quick to bring food and it was some of the best and a very relaxing breakfast too! Felt better than Savor/Taste at times!
