I just booked Encore and got the beverage package with booking. I am not a huge drinker but never knew sodas were included. I thought they were excluded and you needed to buy the soda package. I recently went on a Celebrity Cruise and watched all of your video's that related. The were very helpful. I recently booked a family cruise on the NCL Pearl. I have five in my party so I initially booked a Suite and a Mini-Suite. I was uncomfortable from the beginning because I am spoiled. I am 62, done 18 cruises from the worth cabins to some of the best. My suite was not giving me what I was looking for. By the way, this upcoming cruise will be my 40th Wedding Anniversary. Finally, I simply upgraded to a Haven 2-Bedroom Villa for all Five people. It provided me with the luxury I was looking for and a private Master bedroom for my wife and I. I watched your video on the very bad time you had in the Haven. I am sad to say that people sometimes have jobs that they should never have. You both were treated disrespectfully. I wanted you to know I learned from your experience which was the reason you posted it. I could have put my kids in the least expensive cabin on the ship. But they would not have had Haven access. Two meals a day they would not be able to join us. The GUARDS at the Haven would not let them in. Now my daughter said she did not care but I knew her mother would. My decision was made on the information you both provided. Finally, I actually was thinking about canceling me entire cruise because of your experience. Most because of the responses to your very detailed email to NCL. I decided not to cancel however, feel free to share any or all of my comments in any further correspondence to NCL. They should be ashamed.

What a great 40th anniversary plan !! It will be great to have everyone together in the Haven Villa. We whole-heartedly agree, that NCL should be ashamed....our 20 year loyalty to them was definitely not reciprocated. And neither an acknowledgement or even a half-baked apology was very sad. It's still well worth it to choose the beverage package. If you are likely to purchase the soft drink packaged instead, by the time you pay for that, the difference to the UBP is only like $35 bucks. As long you plan on drinking at least $35 worth of alcohol, it's worth it.

6:20 Vending machines are in the limited access studio solo traveler areas. Basically they have vending machines in the solo access only studio lounge and in a vending room in the solo hallway that offer bottled water and pop. Other parts of the ship may not have them?

I cruise Norwegian three times a year the beverage package is great.I pick it as my promotion for me it's worth it.I always tip the bartenders a few dollars every drink because I go on the same ship and they remember me.Im not a lush don't take this the wrong way I only drink on vacation.I do go in September I get a balcony less expensive the weather is great in Bermuda.Great breakdown on the packages you are spot on so this video is very knowledgeable for people to understand.keep on cruising and enjoy your next cruise 🚢😎🌴

We don't choose the beverage package or purchase usually. We just don't find that we get a value out of it. Kevin usually has a cocktail a day when we are sailing and Frank really doesn't drink anymore. That being said, that's why cruising is great because it is so customizable. Glad to hear you like NCL so much that you go 3 times a year. You're so lucky!! We have yet to do a Bermuda cruise, but it is on our list of to dos!! Thanks for the compliment and sometimes it's hard to weed thru all the small print and make it understandable!!

You pay the price difference. You have already paid an additional gratuity on the beverage package (even if you got it free as a perk) so it's up to you if you want to tip more.

Welcome to the Cruising With Wheels family, Rick!! We don't believe you can buy the drinks package mid week. Usually you have to purchase it pre-cruise or the first day of the cruise. Some lines offer a better price if you buy it pre-cruise and most require the first 2 passengers in the room to have the package as well. I don't know what the benefit would be to buy it mid cruise though anyway.

Wow-I am in sticker shock at price point of ultimate beverage package-$79/day + 18% I thought that I was overpaying with RCL for $59/a day for all drinks including bottled water, cocktails, beer, shots for up to $13 plus Internet (and of course 18% grat.) I feel better now. I opted to go for it because I don't want to worry about it at end of cruise. Mark got soda and Internet for $18/day+ grats. It's nice that we didn't both have to buy the same package. Of course, the skeptic in me thinks NCL has priced the package to increase grat. to passengers. But $15/day is pretty reasonable in my humble opinion.

I'm sure the package price is not to bolster the gratuities but rather to line the pockets of the cruise line executives. LOL We feel based on our traveling with NCL that you would have to drink about 7 drinks per person a day EVERY day while cruising to make it a value. Thats why we never get the drink packages on NCL. Frank RARELY drinks alcohol anymore so there would be no way for us to make it worth our while. In our opinion RCCL's drink packages are a far better value especially in our situation where only one of us drinks alcohol. I would and do however purchase the drink package while traveling on RCCL. We will be posting the RCCL drink packages video on Tuesday 8/15/2017. Keep your eyes peeled!!!!

NCL now all inclusive but I booked my next cruise before this.. UBP is excellent, I chose it as a Free at Sea and it included every drink .. Fab! OOh and barman made my vodka and tonic with Grey Goose, maybe my tip helped! x

Hey so I’m going on one in two months in March. We have chosen the ultimate beverage package as a perk. We have prepaid service charges. Do we still need to pay the gratuities on every drink order? (ex) On our NCL Getaway cruise....we had to pay the basic gratuity charge of $195.86 for the 8 day cruise. (you can prepay this before you set sail or you will be charged for it on your final ship bill...we always prepay) We also got the Ultimate Beverage Package and Dining Package and had to pay $ 249.12 gratuity (18%) on them. Nothing else will be charged to you on the ship, unless you order something from these packages that ARE NOT part of the package.

They give you the Yeti mug. It keeps everything cold. Our friends always carried it around, but you can carry it or NOT carry it.

Yes...there are restrictions and limits on drinks per day. Time frame of purchase is 5-15 minutes between drinks, at the discretion of the bartender / ship. About 15 drinks a day ......per person. It's one drink only purchased per order. If you need to buy 4 drinks (1 for you and 3 for others) you will only get YOUR drink free and will be charged for the additional three. Drink package only covers a max of $15 per drink. If you buy a drink that is $18.......you will be charged the extra $ 3 to your account. Drink of the day.......is considered a regular drink . If you want it in the "specialty glass"....you will get the drink free......but be charged for the glass. (ask for the drink of the day, without the special glass)

Carlos Rivero I have done it three times and tip them so you can get what you want. I travel alone but I always give them $2 for each drink that I get and sometimes they will give me 2 to 3 drinks at once. They will also give me top shelf too. Most people don’t tip them and I take $200 for just drink tips. I can drink though and I never had anyone tell me no to anything.

If you get a coffee without alcohol in it then you have to pay for it. But if you get a coffee with a shot of something in it than its included in the beverage package. I know it weird but that's how it works. LOL You only pay the gratuity on the package not per drink. Hope that helps.

Hot tea (tea bags) and regular coffee are available all day long. They have a variety of cold drinks. (lemonade, fruit punch, ice tea)

A lot of times, the terms service charges & gratuities can be inter-changable. On the NCL website billing....service charges are for cabin stewards & other servers, that you can prepay. If you decide, while on the cruise that all the staff were horrible...you can elect for them to remove the service charges from your bill. The gratuities on drinks or other items you purchase.....18 %....are automatic and absolute & can not be removed. We have found that the terms used above, are listed differently when you book directly with the cruise line (NCL) than when you book with a travel agent.

The $173.00 you paid is the only fee you will be charged for your perk drink package.....unless you order a drink which is over their $$ perk value. (ex) Their limit is $15.00 per drink value. If you order a drink that is $18.00.....you WILL be charged the FULL AMOUNT of the beverage!!

Yes, it's a $15 limit per order.......If you order a $20 drink, $15 is covered, but you'll be charged the extra $5 to your account. Also, you can not hop immediately from one bar to another or one bartender to another to get more drinks. There is a waiting period between drinks (remember, they swipe your card everytime you order). Some cruise lines are more strict than others.

I don't believe so. On some other lines bottled water is included however, the bottled water is counted towards the per drink max. I think you are better off getting a small package delivered to your cabin. Its usually affordable.

It's so nice to hear that you adore our channel. Cruising can be very affordable and you can make payments if you book it far enough in advance. We did a video on "Handicap accessible rooms" but haven't done one on room type or category as of yet. It is on the filming schedule. LOL Not sure what you mean by "upper level/lower level". In all the years cruising I have never heard that terminology before. We will definitely have a video coming out on different rooms types so keep your eyes open!! We generally use a credit card for our onboard spending account and bring cash with us for travel day expenses (both to and from the cruise), parking, tips and for when we are in port for whatever we have planned!! Keep in mind that cruise ships are cashless so its best to use a credit card for your onboard spending account. Otherwise you will end up forking out a bunch of cash at the beginning of your cruise and more than likely have to stand in a long line at the end to get some back. As for food, there are alot of free option onboard for every meal of the day. Specialty restaurants are an additional fee ranging from $10-$50 a person if you so choose to dine at them. We do bring snacks with us and have a video coming out later in the week all about that!!

First and for most, Sept. to Nov. is considered hurricane season and that is why the prices are lower. Although Frank & I have cruised during these months, we do not suggest it for your 1st cruise as the seas may be rougher than usual & the weather may be iffy. As to "upper / lower" , that is in reference to the beds in the room (some cabins hold more than 2 guests & have an upper pulldown bed on the wall). For your 1st cruise....we suggest you use a travel agent. Even after 25 + cruises, we still use an agent to book. Yes, you are correct that ALL the food IS included except for the fancy specialty restaurants, specialty coffee/cake cafes, mini-bar in room & in some cases.....room service. Tap water on the ship is free, you can buy bottled water on the ship. (you can not bring plastic bottles, full or not onboard a Carnival ship). Welcome to the world of cruising !!!!!

Hey, you forgot about the Bottled Water Package. And, as of today (9/23/2017), NCL has done away with the kid's (under 13-year-old) soda package, and now they have three, yes, three Bottled Water Package options. I will be going on the Escape June of next year, and dig many features provided by NCL (free-style cruising, solo traveler friendly, fun & thrilling on-board activities, etc.), but I do think they are nickle-and-diming their cruisers too much.

Your right I didn't mention the 3 options of water that can be pre ordered. I guess I don't consider ir a package even though NCL calls it a package. 6 pack, 12 pack or 24 pack of bottled water can be preordered and waiting for you in your stateroom. As for the kids soda package, they still do offer it. We are sailing on 10/26/2017 and it is an option in or vacation planner on ncl.com. I will check it out when we board the ship just to make sure and get back to you!! The Escape is truly and amazing ship. We haven't sailed on her yet but we know a few people who have. We will be sailing on her sister ship in June. The NCL Bliss. We cant wait!!!

We are taking a cruise on NCL next year. As our "free" add-on, we chose the Adult Beverage Package. I wondered if that included soda or just "adult" beverages, so I tried to inquire but they will not return my calls! I drink a little, but not enough to justify an adult-beverages-only package. Even though it's (NOT) free. Do you, or any of your viewers know the answer to this question? I would appreciate the help.

I went over that in the video. You can see it at 3:19 - 3:26 . Fountain soda IS included in the Ultimate Beverage Package. The Ultimate Beverage Package is the package you will receive with the "Free At Sea" promotion.

NCL doesn't have a package called " Adult Beverage". Perhaps the agent you booked with just called it that. If it was selected as the "Free at sea" promotion add on then it is indeed the "Ultimate Beverage Package" Kevin spoke of on the video. I believe your sail and sign card will say "UBP" on it when you board. Let us know!!!

I booked on NCL's website. My "My NCL" account and the Cruise Confirmation documents they sent me both say "Adult". I'll let you know what happens.

I will have to ask my NCL contact about that. Maybe that's just how it shows up in the myncl website. We have never purchased or selected the UBP for the free at sea promotion so we have never seen it listed on reservation. They currently don't have any packages other than what I mentioned in the video and I know the "free at sea" promotion is the Ultimate Beverage Package.

We never get the UBP. Frankly I don't know why they give you the cup with the soda package. You don't need it. They serve you in glasses and sometimes plastic cups. We bring thermal mugs for our coffee in the morning. But we really don't have to do that either.

Cruising with wheels Not really. They only “officially” give you two drinks at a time at the bar. You can only do that so much at a bar in a given period of time. Yes people will still do that but if the wine was free I could drain all five or six bottles in the machine in five minutes.

The biggest issue with the drink package is that Norwegian can raise the prices of individual drinks at will and you'll suddenly find yourself outside of the $15 cap. I took a cruise early last year where Woodford Reserve bourbon was priced below the $15 cap but when I returned for another cruise in December the prices had been raised so that Woodford now cost $17 meaning that I now had to come up with $2 out of my own pocket for each drink. Not a huge amount, but it adds up. If you think you'll make some of it up in soda be sure to understand that NWCL is a "Pepsi ship". Personally, I'd rather die than drink Pepsi Cola, in fact one of the first things I did upon going ashore was to buy a Coca Cola! If you like Pepsi then you'll do fine, but if you are a Coke drinker then you'll suffer throughout the entire cruise and not find any real value in the drink package unless you guzzle down drinks below the $15 threshold.

From my understanding anyone under 21 would have to purchase the soda package. This is to ensure you dont get a glass of soda off of your unlimited beverage package and give it to your child. Maybe there was a misunderstanding between you and the ncl rep? 3 packages but the soda package should have been cheaper

I would rather drink toilet water than pay for one of those drink packages. $7.50 a day just for soda is huge, compared to how much it costs at a grocery store. A two-liter bottle at an average supermarket in California is probably about $1.50, so 10 liters for $7.50. That's a lot of empty calories. Even if you were a dinosaur, you couldn't drink that much.
