I have a brown just like yours, it's amazing how thick that coat is. I have a black one as well and his hair is so much thinner and silky.

I love your videos please upload more! I would love to see a video on maintaining short hair. My mom makes me shave her Newfie cause of her home but I don’t know how to shave his hair so that it still looks good.

I have done a lot of research to find a 'suitable dog' in my family. This dog is a perfect fit for our family. But I still have a few questions about nutrition. How many grams does an adult dog and puppy eat in a day, I understand that it depends, how heavy the dog is. Also, how many times should I brush (and wash) the Newfie per week, some people says everyday and some every week. Thank you very much!

Do you have suggestions for chris christensen oval pin brush size, what's suitable for newfoundland, 20mm or 27mm? Thanks in advance!

He is so good! I'm in the process of adopting a 9 year old Newfy and she hates grooming apparently and has bitten in her previous home while grooming. Any tips on how to make it as pleasurable as possible for her?

I have a 5 month old white and black (landseer) and his coat is much different the the black newfy I had for 14 years. His is thick and he gets smelly fast! Lol. I started doing his grooming as soon as I brought him home. Just small brushings everyday, while they are small and their fur isn't as bad to get through. I have to use sprays for him or he is intolerant of any brushing. I did however find out he was so i tolerant of his grooming because he was in serious pain. He has HOD, ostechondrosis (OCD), and elbow dysplasia, as well as some strange click with his left back leg sometimes, not a noise, but you can visually see it kind of bowong out. So he is on pain meds, anti-inflammatory meds, and right now and injection every three days to hopefully slow down the loss of cartilage in his shoulders and else where. So we are having a challenging time keeping him groomed. He is 5 months old and 100 lbs already. Almost to big even for my bath tub, and worh his pain he can't get down to my basement to get into the dog shower! So this has been a difficult journey. Any ideas of helping him get through with less pain for a grooming, would be helpful, or an idea of what his back leg may be doing would be a great help. Because his xrays don't show anything and it seems eveytime he goes to the vet, he is having a good day and it's not clicking. They have checked his knees, and his hips. It could just be painful in days and he is kicking it out. But my amazing Gus, is such a good boy I want to make things as easy as I can for him. He is suffering enough. But I also can't let his hair mat up or end up causing hot spots. My black girl, had a silky coat and needed brushed good 2btimes a year, she was nothing like his coat!

My year old newfie pup hates being groomed and is now afraid of groomers. I want to learn how to do it myself now but am worried she will try to jump off grooming table being afraid of being washed and dried. How do I get her used to it?
@kimberlyfaulkner37822 жыл бұрын
I had a dog once who I adopted from a rescue and she was scared to death of anything that looked like a brush or a comb, I'm assuming she was abused. I put a sock over the brush and just left the bristles out. I used it softly everyday for about 2 weeks as I was petting her. She got use to it, and we worked it out from there. She eventually lived grooming and would bring me her brush almost daily! Even my 5 month old whobhas severe pain at times from health issues, lives to be brushed when he feels up to it. But a blow dryer to help get the dead hair out is a great help! I also use the floor not a table because it's to hard for him to stand long periods of time. Baths are hard for him because he can't get to my basement where the dog shower is and he is way to big for me to carry, he weighs as much as I do and is as long asni am...lol. so I use a lot of no water shampoos and deodorant and sprays and oils....

My Newfie's "pants" (that long fur on their backside) has some big matts and im wondering if I should shave the matted fur or try to comb it out...? Not sure I can comb it, since it's all stuck together.

A Newfis coat is so thick you have to work in sections. It is not like brushing a short hair dog. You are talking hours to do the job properly.
