I really enjoyed Lindsay's Lord or the Rings video on Nebula, it was so well done. I also recently finally read Axiom's End, so well written and captivating. I just picked up the sequel Truth of the Divine and plan to read it shortly. Her take on Sci-fi is refreshing.

If you're on her Patreon, she made a deal with Nebula that all of her patreon supporters have access to her Nebula content (only her content, no other Nebula creators), so that's a way to get it cheaper than the regular Nebula subscription :)

If you find another KZbinr who is on nebula, you can find a deal where you sign up for curiosity stream and get nebula for free. The curiosity stream sub is about $20 annually and pretty good on it's own.

I'm pleasantly surprised to see all the positivity in the comments section. Lindsay was one of numerous FilmTubers (a few others being Every Frame A Painting, Patrick Willems, and Royal Ocean Film Society) who really changed the way I view cinema as an art form, and I really miss hearing her thoughts on the subject. She had come a long way from her Channel Awesome years, and it showed in the professional quality of her post-CA videos. It's just a shame that she got harassed off of social media over an ice cold take on a lousy Disney movie no one cares about anymore. Also, listening to this podcast after watching Lady Emily's excellent The Return of Channel Awesome's Demo Reel serves as a reminder of how badly Doug Walker has stagnated by comparison.

Glad to hear Lindsay again and that she's doing well - I have a Nebula subscription, but rarely use it unless a YT video mentions there's exclusive content (YT's content discovery system is much better in general for finding new uploads, maybe this will improve on Nebula with time, hopefully!), but I'll have to check it for the LotR video :) Have also been meaning to log in to watch Abby's play, if that's up yet. So glad that option is available so I don't have to fly all the way to the TERF Island, lol.

It's nice to get this little peek behind the curtains about Nebula. I sometimes watch and listen to creators and think, "*youtube creator* has a similar kind of vibe to *other creators* on Nebula. I wonder if they will be on the platform any time soon." And now I know that it's a process that takes time and vetting. So they may be on any day now. Maybe sometime I'll see Sideways, Folding Ideas, and maybe even Internet Historian and I'll be able to download and listen to them on my way to work (and maybe at work too) Anyway, great info and I am very much looking forward to Lindsay's next videos.

As much as I loved "Raya and the Last Dragon" for what it was, Lindsay being cancelled over it was too much and the way she was treated by everyone was too toxic. The people on the left who think are righteous gave the other reactionary side ammo to say "LINDSAY THE QUEEN OF WOKE GETS EATEN BY HER OWN AUDIENCE SHE WENT WOKE AND NOW SHE BROKE" that just made Lindsay look worse and I agree with her that the reaction was because she was a woman with an opinion on the internet. People have proved that many had made similar takes about the film and no one batted an eyes. I admit I don't always agree with Lindsay's takes, but I wouldn't go as far as to ruin her life or harass her because at the end of the day her opinion won't affect my life.

On the comments on Nebula thing, I think the other reason that patreon & a creator's reddit get less toxic interaction than they would on say a video is that, those spaces are expressly for that creator and attract that audience specifically and more exclusively. Like, yes, Nebula is a paid service, but it's a paid service for a BUNCH of creators with a wide audience, and parts of that audience might not like the other parts, so you're just as likely to get the deluge still even if it is smaller due to a smaller subscriber base.

I know for me any comments about her doing ok was just wishing her well on moving from how public she'd been before and all that. However, I fully appreciate her feedback that being completely inundated by variances and intense 'i miss her i hope she is ok' does end up being what she described. It's one thing to be the commenter and it's another thing to be the one who the comments are directed to even if that are positive. The internet can be a deluge, even if it's trying to be positive.

The thing with Twitter is so many artists have to use social media for their work. They can't just leave. Lindsay should know this since she has an assistant running her social media for her book, but...like. Artists and writers alike can't get their work seen without the likes of Twitter or similar. That's where a large genuine panic is.

Gonna throw in a weird perspective - I'm ALSO someone who reads literally every tweet in his timeline and I'll tell you the secret. When you're not a brand, when you're just someone using twitter you can totally just follow your friends and then maybe a few creators. After 15+ years on twitter I'm following under 100 people and most of them aren't brands looking to promote stuff. They're friends form ye olde forum days. I'm off Twitter now, but it never really got terribly bad for me personally because I was using it "the wrong way."
