Thank you so much for this tutorial!! A couple of days ago I inherited my grandfather's mandolin, and I hope to play him a couple of songs next time we see eachother. I play guitar and banjo uke, but haven't touched a mandolin before. This is a wonderful rendition of a wonderful song, and excellently taught!!! :)

Thanks so much - I appreciate it :) Hey, I have a video all about mandolin playing from a guitar player’s perspective that might be helpful as well. Good luck with Blackbird and have a great day :)

Hi Neal. Thanks for giving me credit for the suggestion. I was playing some other solo mandolin Beatles Songs at a family party and cousin Lori asked me if I could learn "Blackbird" for her birthday in September. I told her I would but I was struggling a little with it. Now, you have made it possible. It is a great song for solo mandolin! I am currently on a beach vacation but I brought a mandolin and I am going to get after it. Thank you so much my friend!

How awesome - glad to be of some help! Man, I love playing on the beach. I used to spend a lot of time in Florida and have played by the ocean many times. One time, I stood up to my knees and played to the full moon. Good luck with the song, thanks for the tip and let me know if you have any questions. Have a great day :)

Love this! It may take me awhile to learn it...but I will. I seem to have some dyslexia (or whatever it would be called when watching the instrument mirror image) because it takes me forever to figure out where your fingers are.

I’d never heard that song before and checked it out - that’s really nice! I listened to a couple of different versions of it and like it a lot. We’ll definitely have to look into that one :)

Hey there, I don’t want you to think I’ve forgotten about you. This is coming along nicely and I’m so glad you suggested it. I have the main melody figured out and am just working on some chord voicings in the B part. I’m debating doing two videos: one that is just the melody and one that’s the full version with the chords. But, it’s definitely coming :)

Hey bud, you’re up next :) I’ll do the usual thing where I’ll do a video of just the song being played and follow up with the lesson. I’m thinking two lessons: here on the KZbin channel, I’ll do the melody in its simplest form so that most people can follow along. I’ll do the full chord melody on the patreon page for folks who want a little more. Such a nice tune and I appreciate you bringing it up.

Hey there. I don't have tabs, but most of this came from the Beatles for Mandolin book. It has this and many excellent arrangements. I'll go back and put the link in the description if you want to check it out. It won't work in a comment. Have a great day :)
