The NDR Symphony Orchestra (today: NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra) plays Samuel Barber's "Overture to 'The School of Scandal'" conducted by Lorin Maazel. The work is Barber's first overture for orchestra. Barber composed it in 1931 - while still studying at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, USA.
Excerpt from the concert recording from the Großer Sendesaal of the NDR Landesfunkhaus Niedersachsen in Hanover in 1986.

Very well done. And I love when a Conductor GETS the tempo & nuance. Overtures can be challenging, this one in particular. But Maazel does a superb job of navigating this classic piece.
