there is definitely a reason why they are called "IIT Aspirants" and not Engineering Aspirants but the fact is, At end hard work pays, If you can't make it to IIT , you should do better in any other engineering college be it private or any other govt.

Arkya Chatterjee i feel that might be true. I am really very passionate about engineering.. Computers specially. And iit is the last option I have to reach my potential for am from a comparatively poor family. It pains me to hear from these guys that iit is a testing platform for your life. They are joking right??!! Am in 11th and damn frustrated for I need IIT .I need to fulfill my passion, I can die for it, can take any risk for it. Opinions please.

People in the west must be laughing at this mentality- actually, any sensible person- that you go to an engineering college to 'get exposure'. Logically speaking, you should be going to an engineering college to study engineering. But logic has no place in Indian education, perhaps! Haha. No the student's fault. I appreciate his honesty. I don't know when we'll ever get out of the dark ages in the education sector in this country.

Actually at the age of 17/18,how can u expect someone to know so much? For a small town boy like me,before coming to IIT I didn't even know anything like finance, marketing,investment banking etc even exist. I used to think the intelligent bunch of students go for either medical or IIT in their UG. I qualified for both NEET and JEE advanced, and atlast took admission in IIT only to discover that I am not fit for engineering. In the mean time, I found finance pretty interesting, and hope to switch career from engineering to finance ..

And regarding money minded issues, or bright brains joining iit and not becoming engineer, the major set back lies in the core indian education system and society only. The system is society driven and society has formed its mentality based on the dame system. So both are interlinked for this degradation.
