No where women and men are equal. Including USA UK GERMANY etc.. USA has not elected lady president since 300 years. We india had CM of UP Sucheta kriplani in 1960s We had lady as Defense minister. @intelligentsia7938 жыл бұрын
A) The nature of the Ayyappa is that of someone who has renounced the proximity of a certain group of women. That is Ayyappa's nature manifested as per his own decision for himself. Let us keep in mind that Ayyappa is a male. A devotee who is not ignorant would understand that nature of Ayyappa and will honor it. A non-devotee would not feel the obligation to honor it. An ignorant devotee would be behaviorally similar to a non-devotee in this case. One must have knowledge of what to honor, and with what degree and priority. The exactness in that knowledge is what a devoted Thantri has. [The political aspect of anyone actively dishonoring Ayyappa's decision within a democracy manifests as an attack on Hindu beliefs. An ignorant Hindu can also contribute to this attack due to his/her lack of exactness in the understanding. Honoring of Ayyappa's nature is evident for humans largely through the recorded history, while Ayyappa's nature is part of widely accepted mythology. Now, why did Ayyappa decide his Naishtika Brahmacharya? Only he knows. There is no actual rationale to support it. There is no actual rationale to oppose it even. We are aware of only the god's decisions, not his mind & its mechanisms. One will have to oppose the idea of god itself to oppose Ayyappa's decision.] B) Would you like to challenge whether Ayyappa is male or not? Would you like to impose your own meaning of what Ayyappa's renunciation should look like? Would you want to impose the burden of another idea of celibacy (such as western idea of celibacy - 'no-marriage with no-sex')? Then, you are not the acknowledging the nature of Ayyappa in Sabarimala. You are fantasizing some other entity. Either you can try finding that entity you are looking for, or make your own new temple. [Note that it is often easy to get lost in translation. Celibacy in this context is most close to the idea of asceticism. Please be aware of meaning-loss in words/phrases elsewhere too. It is important to understand the conceptual-framework before deciding what to do with it.] C) Is Ayyappa sexist as per today's standards? Maybe. If you feel so, and feel very strongly against sexism, do not choose to be a devotee of Ayyappa. There are many other gods to show your devotion. Find a non-sexist one. Before that, maybe recheck your value-system which you use to conclude sexism in Ayyappa's nature. Ayyappa is considered a god and certainly far superior to any mortals. Your value-system would most probably be inapplicable for a god. Keep your mind open to the idea that the defect could be in the value-system which finds a god as sexist. [Holistically speaking, around 400 years of western colonialism has given Indians the benefit of western education but also the issues in the assumptions of the western value-systems. There have been mutations to our value-system much before that too. Even if many maintain the identity of Hindu, the default outlook of the past centuries is that of a remixed-Hinduism and not necessarily of a progressed-Hinduism. Hinduism inherently being a complex remix with a unified common substrate doesn't help with the confusion. And a remixed-substrate as a result of centuries has meddled with our value-judgements.] D) Aren't all Hindu gods the same? Shouldn't the nature of one temple be same as the other, let it be Kerala or Odisha? No. That is not how Hinduism is. While one must show aversion to practices that are clearly harmful, one must also identify practices that make our gods unique and preserve them. Hinduism acknowledges the 'form-less property-less omnipresent god' simultaneously with the numerous gods who has specific forms and mythology behind them. It sustains a plethora of god-based -isms such as polytheism, pantheism, monotheism, agnostic, atheism and even deism. One can be Hindu with or without the Vedas, or any such texts. Hinduism maintains the individual's opportunity to question anything. [That opportunity of the individual must not be conflated with the state's or any group's opportunity to remove any existing beliefs. A current system of democracy is a relatively newer mechanism which provides new kinds of opportunities which may not be about religion itself. One must use caution in identifying constructive opportunities. There is no formula for that discrimination power. One must analyze in detail without agenda. Let the agenda come from the analyses, and not prior to them.] E) "#RightToPray" is a misnomer and a distortion of facts. What fits exactly is "#RightToEnterSabarimalaForWomenOfCertainAgeGroup". If omission of information to make it short is desired, what fits approximately is "#RightToEnter". No one is denied from the act of praying itself. What is being prohibited is the entry to the temple when one is a woman of a certain age group. The lack of intellectual honesty makes discussions less meaningful. *Now, let us look at the main TWO cases where most of the pro-entry arguing sides would fit:* 1) You do not believe in god as an independent entity from human imagination, or does not believe so specifically about Ayyappa: In this case, you rationally cannot demand to enter Sabarimala. You have no respectable objective to enter that place. Actually, you will have no interest in entering any religious place if you are an atheist. Stressing on tourism instead of devotion also makes you a non-devotee. If you are in the role of an anti-theist, and if still you demand to enter, then you would be suspected of ill-intentions. If you claim that you are trying to speak for other devoted women, then you lack the basic requirement for representing them by not realizing the reason why they have the devotion. You already have an outlook that is incompatible with them. A devotee would reasonably place Ayyappa above constitution. You lack that perspective. So, the individuals under case-1 can have no rational argument to put forth regarding temple entry of devotees or themselves. [There is another argument that atheists and anti-theists can present, and it will be rational. That would be along the lines of totally removing any temple/worship from Sabarimala, and using that land well for state's productivity. Even though I might support such an argument, the ongoing discussion is not on that. Case-1-people will have to be #ready-to-wait for that kind of argument which opposes theism directly. There is some irony here.] 2) You believe in Ayyappa being a god whose history and mythology is known: If you are such a devotee, then you are asking a genuine question about Sabarimala temple-entry regulations. The reply is this - if you are a genuine devotee of Ayyappa, then you will respect his decision of renunciation. You will act accordingly. The explanations are present mainly in {A,B,C} above. If you still have doubt, the knowledgeable person to ask is the Thantri who really knows about Ayyappa. Not the pseudo-intellectual and misinformed people who has no refined idea of Kerala & its mythologies. The following questions has the human tinge, but consider this - why would a god stay in a place where his decision is not respected by his devotees? To continue his vow of renunciation, wouldn't he have to move to another place where he can maintain his asceticism? What do the human ideas of sexism, patriarchy, left/right politics, communism, democracy, constitution etc. mean for a god? [Note that the human "ascetics/sages/swamis" of the present age follow their own adulterated version of asceticism. They have relatively mellow lives and are not qualified to comment on the nature of renunciation that Ayyappa keeps. Except for the Thantri no one else is eligible. Even Thantri cannot make any major changes. What makes Ayyappa 'Ayyappa' must be preserved.] **Disclaimer**: If anyone feels like showering abuse or telling nonsense as reply, please consider your words as reply for yourself. I am not a fan of silliness. I have put the effort to explain using as precise words as possible. Intelligent and coherent responses are welcome. Please note that I have made no mention of the nonsensical classifications of purity/impurity (It is a non-problem, a straw-man, a distortion of Ayyappa's stance on renunciation). I do not wish to turn this into a men-versus-women discussion. If Ayyappa was female and if she wanted to practice renunciation, then it could very well happen that no guys after reaching puberty can enter her temple. The importance of the temples are maintained also by their exclusivity.

Just as there are some religious sites like Sabarimala which prohibit women/girls of a certain age group from entering its precincts, there are many such temples like the famous Kamakhya temple in Assam, which only allows women to enter. Will pseudo-feminists like Ranjana Kumari fight for the right of men to enter such temples ? Moreover, all religions are based on individuals' faith and many of their practices many not be rational or even logical to some. Hence, unless a religious practice is inherently harmful to a section of society (like instant Triple Talaq is to Muslim women), there is not reason to raise a hue & cry in the garb of women's rights.

Some rituals can only be performed by men and some other rituals by women due to biological factors. So please understand this is not discrimination. They are rituals followed by our people since time immemorial based on their knowledge n experience as to what s good for the society. There s a difference between social evil n social practice. Social evil like dowry, sati etc are to be eradicated without second thought but not social practices as they are result of long drawn social experiments and have so much sentiment attached to them.
@msdolly61019816 жыл бұрын
U believe sati was eradicated without second thought! You need to read a little bit about Bal Gangadhar Tilak's fight to end Sati. Thank God it was Britishers then . In current scenario even to ban sati huge debate would be going on. And dowry is not completely eradicated.

Seema, I know those social evils did not end on their own and only because of some forward thinking people, there was end to it and I won't even say they have ended. They are still continuing i this era also. So those eradication of social evils is must. But this Sabarimala issue is not discrimination or social evil issue. It is based on rule of bramacharya and even if a female goddess is practising bramacharyam then no male will be allowed to enter. People are comparing certain specific social rituals with social evils and that is where this confusion comes. I had never said those social evils ended on their own and people realised it all of a sudden. My only issue here is people are treating the Sabarimala issue and comparing it to some evil practice discriminating women when it is no where closer to the definition of social evil. Hope you understand.

The head priest, Tantri and Pandalam royal family has only one motive to preserve the tradition that has been followed from centuries and to uphold the basic principles of the diety. Every diety in each temple is installed with a specific character and rituals to match his character. A diety is programmed to discharge cosmic energy to heal the devotees based on this character( bhaavam) and rituals ( Aaacharangal). If you disrupt it then the diety does not function as intended so any move to disrupt it is a move to destroy the very existence of Sabarimala temple. Ayappa diety installed in Sabarimala is different from Ayappa dities in other temples and each diety is unique. In Sabarima, the diety is in the form of nitya brahmachari ( eternal celebacy) in yoganidra. Ayyapa was a great yogi who lived a human life and he attained moksha and dissolved in to Sastha who is the diety formed from lord Shiva and Vishnu. Ayyapa is different from Sasta and only thing that is common is that Ayyapa attained enlightenment and became one with Sasta in his eternal yoga nidra and he is present in this specifc form in Sabarimala. It is the fundamental right of a diety who should also be considered as a citizen to enjoy his/her interest in his/her home which is the sanctum santorium and the temple. As per temple architecture the whole temple is considered as the body of the diety where the sanctum sanctorium is consired as the point where teh soul resides, his feet is the flag post, the inner and outer circles of sanctum sactorium is considered as the faceof the diety and so on all parts of the temple is symbolic of the body of the diety. There is absolutely no political motive and this is all based on Kerala temple architecture and rituals which has been prescribed by Adi Sankaracharya and lord Parasurama. Malikapurathamma the form of godess is eternally waiting outside his sanctum sanctorium for him to come out of yoga nidra and receive her and this wait will continue to eternity because lord Ayyapa has dissolved his consciousness with the supreme soul , called moksha or the attainment of the highest level of oneness with God and became God himself.This is the reason of very stric rituals and 41 days of celebacy and rituals followed by devotees to climb the holy 18 steps. The 18 steos are considered 18 things we should attain to become one with God and at this stage what you realize is Tatvamasi means I and you are one and we are mirror images of each other. A devotee following his 41 days of self control and devotion realizes that he is seeing in the diety his own perfect form. Sabarima cause has nothing to do with violation of fundamantal rights or on treating women different from men. If Ayyapa was a woman who wanted to maintain celebacy, definitel men would not be allowed that all it is all about

Why women want to visit this temple if diety doesn't want to meet them ?? It is like forcing yourself inside the house of someone where someone is not interested in meeting you. Now question on books where it is written, Hinduism is not Islam that it has one book that is it, Hinduism is evolving natural religion with most knowledge orally transmitted from one to another. Books etc..what non sense. Why don't women go in devi temples or build new devi temples for mata supreme, for Ragyna mata and make them exclusive for women open all days all ages during periods, during pregnancy. Fact is most temples were built by men but women can also build now in 21st century and build for supreme mother. 🙏

Sabarimala is temple with a purpose in its ritual. Men take the vows of abstinence to take a break from worldly pleasures to find the element of the Divine within themselves 'thatwamasi'. They return to their worldly life after taking 'darshan' and live life to the fullest with the true meaning. The 41 days of penance happens with the support of the whole family. Isn't this a great thing? Isn't this verdict snatching the essence of a Hindu practice? Where in the world can Hindus to live their life go if it is not allowed in this country?

If you want to change traditions and end discrimination, Lets change all !!!! 1. Women should be allowed to tie Mangalsootra and men should wear it 2. Married Men should wear kunkuma 3. Let Men tie rakshabandhan around Women wrists and get the gifts in return 4. During Karva Chaut Husband should fast and look at wife through the sieve 5. Let Women become poojari in temples 6. After marriage, the Husband's last name should be the Wife's first name and wife's last name should never change. Make all of the above a law and end discrimination!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to say but these women's arguments are laughable at best. Mr Deepak made it very clear that only in this certain temple women of menstrual age are not allowed because in this certain temple Lord Ayyapa is in the form of a Brahmachari. Also there are temples where men are not allowed and we totally respect that but damn these modern feminists kept howling at him with childish argument of so called discrimination. Anyway not much to expect from the guests appearing on NDTV.

Sometime women lose the sensibility and hold on to victimhood -Its a ladies college…! -soo wat ?it is a college a place to study only know…. Why are you not allowing men inside Its a descrimination You all know its not…its jus being sensible and adehrring to fact tat it is dedicatied only to women Are we men feeling descriminated wen it comes to temples only dedicated to women Nooo! Becos its not descrimination People who feel women are descriminated in sabrimala dont understand anythg regarding spirituality and diety

Yes, this is true. Prior to 1991, and after 1947, women used to enter, of all ages. This was the basis of the case filed against the Travancore Devasom Board in 1991 - that they are failing to protect the customs, and uphold the vow of Ayappan, which they are duty bound to do. The women who entered the temple are usually well connected, from the families of officials, bureaucrats and politicians. Commoners never adopted this practice en masse in respect of the customs. It was the outcry of the devotees against this violation of customs that led first to a devaprasnam, and then a case in the HC. The HC then upheld tradition, and made the unfortunate decision to enforce it via law, adding another layer to this tangle between faith and government. So, the entry of women was always against the norm/custom. The same can be evidenced from the now famous Ward & Conner report by the British in 1816, where they document that a temple exists where young women do not go, but old women and children alike are free to journey.
@sureshpolali46167 жыл бұрын
Right of admission restricted is legitimate. Why women wants to enter when it is not allowed by some tradition?. I do not understand. This "my right" is ultimate is ridiculous. We have so many things women can do without entering the temple. Time has come to treat women with some force legally - Let there is no law which is soft on women. I have lost all soft corner to women and treat women as threat to my existence. I am losing my job because company is hiring women . Women are promoted , women has special program for leadership. WOMEN WOMEN WOMEN every where. I urge men to stand up and fight for your right. Just being WOMEN is meritorious now a days. No one blames Item girl who is charging 5 cores for a 6 min dance. But they cry this as OBJECTIFICATION. Today's women are confused a lot .

Sabarimala is a symbol of national integrity as all religious people are accepted there is one can take 41 days vratham ; Women Below 10 and above 50 are also allowed inside the temple Few Thoughts that come to the mind assuming women are allowed inside 1. Do we have enough facilities in sabarimala for Young Women ( No Proper Accommodation , No Clean Bath rooms ) 2. We have all possibilities of anti elements intentionally screwing up the place getting young women ; We have no clue what all they are capable of 3. This issue has been politcised by a section of people who doesnt know any jack about sabarimlala Please leave it to the temple administration to decide ; Dont Politicise this Issue

Kerala is a state where there is almost 100% literacy among women. Almost all women of kerala are against this s c verdict allowing women entry. People like ranjana kumaari and vasanth kannabiran have only superficial knowledge about this temple, where, lakhs of women worship Ayyappa every year. Let them come to kerala and ask every women about their stand and why they take such a stand. Only a few from communist family don't mind going to sabarimala. The communists, as we know, basically are non-believers in god. The women in kerala don't feel any discrimination b'coz they have enough knowledge about sabarimala, but people like ranjana Kumari and vasanth kannabiran think that there is discrimination b'coz they don't have enough knowledge about the shrine. The celibate nature of the deity and the abstinence of devotes from all worldly pleasures(that is what is called 'vritha ') complement one another. A humble request to people like ranjana and vasanth to visit a few malayali family and get enough knowledge about this 'unique' temple where every devotee is considered as God itself. Once again I am reminding people like ranjana and vasanth that your arguments are borne out of ignorance about 'this particular temple'.

It is not only about Sabrimala. Animal sacrifice in Hindu should ban because it's against humanity, animal rights. If you protest against its you are called as a extremist. But I filled a petition in Court to ban animal slaughter and eating meat or fish as it's also against humanity, animal rights. Then I will be also called extremist. Is tariki ke se nehi ap India main Hinduism ko hi ban kar di jiye. Ok happy
