At least he isn't bragging like all the guys in Texas and Florida who catch 4 and 5 pounders and act like they are great fishermen. Those fish are standard size in those states, nothing special at all. One in particular ended up making a trip to my state and couldn't catch squat! Thought that was about as funny as it gets.

Gotta love the top water bite! Thanks again, Matt. I've learned that the size of the splash doesn't always indicate the size of the fish. I've caught little fish that make big explosions and I've caught monsters that just slurped my frog gently from under the surface. Great fun either way!

I don’t have any yet. I want to try fishing again for the first time in years. My dad once took me fishing when I was an older preteen. We sat by the lake we lived close to and hoped we would catch something. When I asked about it later, my dad said he didn’t want to use bait because my mom was grossed out by worms. He didn’t want us keeping live worms in the house. If only my mom knew at the time that lures were a thing.

Another great video! I use clear silicon to seal the spider where the hooks exit the body, water gets in there, then use an exacto knife to make a slit on the top side of the abdomen so it will still collapse when the fish strikes, it works well, no more leaks and floats like it should

big fan. I know this is an older video, but I'm just digging thru your backlog for some inspiration. so i'm fairly new to bait casters, but have decent command of a pitch and of a roll cast which has caught me many feesh (from the bank, smalies in cover, mostly timber laydowns and quite a quick river... St Joseph River, Michigan). Thru all of your videos and all the amazing catches, i keep coming back to that effortless overhand flick that you seem to always put right on the money. obviously decades of practice. I have the same MHF 6'6" st croix rod and a decent reel, power pro super slick 30lb braid to a leader. any advice or mantra behind such a sick cast?
@ndyakangler2 жыл бұрын
I’ve only been using casting gear for about 8 years now, all spinning before then. I think a lot of my accuracy comes from just spending time on the water, specifically river fishing where most of my casts I’m aiming at about a square foot target next to the bank or structure. You spend a day making hundreds of casts like that and your accuracy will improve. I’ve also used the same rods or ones with similar specs most of that time so I have a good feel for my gear.
