According to Mick Jones, after Ken Browns back axle was repaired the dealer had a mishap when trying to deliver the Capri back to Ken and so the damaged car was sent to the works competition department at Boreham for further repairs, when Boreham tried to deliver the car they too had a mishap and eventually it was decided to rewards Ken’s loyalty to the brand with a spanking new car.

Classic film , back when editors let the action set the tone for the film , and just enough commentary not to spoil the action , unlike today's coverage , with over the top comentry or just to many ego's , the only real advance's are in camera quality and the use of both drone and incar cameras . I still think these near 50 years old films are more exciting to whatch than today's total live coverage , the magic is in the editing back then .

That would of been some story to tell someone “”I remember when I gave ari vatanen the diff out of me Capri” back when rallying was rallying when rally cars had components out of a normal road car and team managers helping to fix

Nope none of them venture outside of their warms air condition service area's these day's , those days of fixing cars between stages , are history now . In those years it was normal to find Works teams ,using local garages car parks or Pub car parks to services cars on. especially during big events like the marathon Lombard RAC rally . I remember the whole works Lancia team been on a Petrol station parking area between one stage were I lived in the Midlands , it was much more all hands on back then , still a very long way off the money and budgets of today's global sport and more Corporate image . A lot more human too.

My all time favourite The spectators diff was used for Ari How cool is that

I believe that the spectators car took three days for the parts to arrive and be fitted. Ford naturally paid for the repair and three nights for the driver and passengers in a good hotel while they waited.

That brought back many good memories. I was servicing further down the car park, so did not see the legendry moment with the axle change. I know it's a well worn cliche, but rallying in that era was great with servicing carried out in unbelievable places, today it very clinical and not much of it. the Scottish was well known for shredding tyres, like nothing on earth.

That's when rallying was really rallying. The work on Vatanens car , magic. They say the stuff today is good, not a hope. My age group are so lucky to have witnessed it all and at times be a part of it.

Just go to the local Ford dealer and tell them we used the diff in Ari's car, they should give you a new diff assembly. The Team Manager explains to the spectator who was driving past when Ari's car was needing parts they didn't have to hand. Until the part drove past in a road Capri, and it was a straight swap for a works part!

I acquired one without knowing what it was in 3 pieces, wings were broken off at glue line ,neck was warped and I steamed it straight and reassembled it..it was on its way to a bon fire, but I stopped that from happening..I put two humbuckers in it and glover tuners on it.5 way switch ,,,,neck - hum -inside singles-outside singles rear hum-both hums..1 vol 1 tone....may modify to get singles also fore and aft and combo later...later after knowing what I did I also acquired another disassembled but with original tuners and single Hershey bar pickup and tailpiece..no pots or switch,,,this one il put together stock when I buy missing parts...no money was needed for my acquisitions....
