Since then we dont say maokai anymore, if we see the champ in lobby we panic and we call him by that guy’s nickname. It was an emotional damage. A trauma imprinted in our minds. There are supports that are much more cancerous. Maokai is nowhere near that. Top tier are Leona, Rell, Morgana. Should I introduce you to Rengar/nasus/Braum? For early game pressure, hear comes Taric. Any of the above will eat Maokai alive, and then BBQ your ADC too. I think Maokai win rate is rather low now, which is a shame because I used to play him alot.

@@tranquangthienphuoc not really!! Maokai is very defensive and offensive at the same time. Leona can't jump with maokai near by unless they outnumber or are already ahead. Rengar can't use bushes , nasus cant do anything at all until mid game. Rell i ain't sure about it much don't see her much. Morgana is a bit problematic but you could stay safe and still win team fights because Maokai is a god at team fighting if played well. Braum really depends if there's someone like ashe he's a great pick else there's someone like samira he isn't very useful. I'd rather take a leo, ali , maokai instead of him to counter opponents

Maokai is a taxman. And he is here to collect the potato tax. Whenever the opposing team wants to get an objective they almost always will pass trough bushes. Potato them. Any objetive fight will start with them going to a few potatoes, getting seen, slowed and damaged. Get to objectives first and plant. If the op team gets to an objective full health, you failed. Also the ult is a root but also a gtfo. Op team coming in? Ult. You just won yourself some 3-6 seconds of them sidestepping and coming back in, which may be enough to finish an objetive. Losing dragons, heralds or baron as a maokai is a failure.

I played against this a while ago as a jungler and honestly it was the most annoying thing I’ve ever played against. Saplings everywhere in my jungle. They knew where I was all the time and I couldn’t get near bot without losing half my health to saplings.

@@willek1335 I’ve thought about it a lot and I don’t think I have a really good answer. Dashes and shields are a pretty reliable way to avoid that damage so a champ with either of those might be able to clear them without taking too much damage but vision will still be compromised. I think Neeko’s clone can activate saplings but I’m not sure. Someone like Evelyn who heals when they’re out of combat might do well. The only thing I could think of relies on using a lot of control wards to see where Maokai is going in your jungle and then ruthlessly collapsing on him. Even then though he’s drawing pressure and if his team is smart they’ll use that. TLDR I have no idea.

Maokai was my first main, and has always been a character i've loved. I started off playing him mid when he had the damage reduction R, and currently play him support going Aftershock with manaflow & gathering storm. That's all the mana regen he needs with spellthief (allows you to use your passive and not push lane if you don't want to), which allows you to go high hp early through deadmans rush, followed by demonic embrace to start %hp burn items to hammer home his "Stealth rocks" type of control mage play that i find enjoyable preventing the enemy from leaving for fear of dmg, but also allowing you to choose when you want to initiate with deadmans mobility. 3rd item liandrys allows you the mana, and spell haste you'll start needing to control more map for neutral objectives. maokai vision and control is busted with saplings and R.

I found Milky quite easy to climb with. I flew threw silver up into gold. I genereally go Aftershock and tear DMP. Sometimes I go Comet and Mandate if we are light on AP. I almost never get sorc pen boots tho that was interesting. Q max vs E max is another in game decision. I usually use Maok ult in melee distance with WQR combo to keep the target super locked down. 22:36 maok can sapling the bush below gromp from river. That's an easy safe bush to cheese enemy bot lane if they leash blue.

I tried out the mandate supp maokai, the first game went sad since they had a yuumi sivir bot who can outsustain and deny my sapling control and they had a fed singed top vs a yasuo . Despite the drawbacks, I found it op that you can deny gank opportunities every 30s seconds and have a free ward that cant be countered by red wards. This pick to me seems like optimal vs mage supports and tanks as they rely on having an hp lead and poking but the sapling's ranged denies them from being able to freely abuse the bush. However the second game went perfectly and I got an S+ despite a 4v5 disadvantage which is insane considering I hardly play this champ so thank you for introducing this support to me NEACE and I think you deserve a lot of credit for your amazing macro sense. Also playing at Gold in the Garena server which is quite a jungle of a meta and server imo

This was pretty frustrating to play against (Brand here), sadly my teammates applied no pressure and lost lane. Was trying to play it safe and scale properly since it was hard to walk up and poke with the plants in the bushes. Most of the game this guy and his ADC were shoved and idk why my shyv decided not to come bot, despite playing shyv and supposed to be applying bot pressure for drags to stack her passive. Top was doing fine, we all wanted to scale, but the irelia kept running it down as well. I know I misplayed here and their, but it was just hard to come back with a fed Zac and Yone. Also its really really hard to get vision without knowing where the enemy mid or jg is. (Yep, just looked at the map while rewatching the vid, the shyv was Top Side the WHOLE time. Unfortunate.

Even came to KZbin to blame your team mates eh? You didn't just misplay "here and their" (there, by the way). You misplayed your entire lane and even afterward. Shyvana had nothing to do with you losing your lane - you don't know how to position against a Maokai and apply pressure. You repeatedly just walk up to die around the 15 - 19 minute mark. You spend more time typing in all-chat than looking at the game state. You're side-lane trolling when your team is in jungle taking a fight (a bad fight, but your ult there still could have prevented the enemy team from further taking objectives and abusing you). Could you have won this game? Yeah - probably. Had you actually played better yourself, this game was probably carriable for you. It would've been difficult, but not outside the realm of doable. If you guys didn't ff at the time you did, then you have Twitch and Kayle for ridiculous scaling - and if you had played better earlier, you might've not gotten consensus on the ff vote and been able to let Twitch and Kayle scale and auto-win the game.

Id recommend not trying it either xD maokai has an insane amount of control and cc, but he does NOT have much dps. He CAN jungle with a healthy clear. He can NOT clear at a competitive speed to basically anyone else so you will auto lose objective control til mid game due merely to clear speed and personal location

Very easy, after hitting the tower *a few times* you want to reset. Otherwise, you risk getting killed by the enemy. They have respawned and are walking to where you are. Also, they probably bought items. That means they are more likely to kill you likely took damage on the previous battle and wasted enough mana.

@@RNGHater also if you don't reset soon after pushing the wave under tower, you will lose experience and minions because some of them will die before you get back to lane. Back timings can maks a big different to your gold and experience income aswell as your wave management.

Are you sure the E's don't stack? Because I've gone AP Maokai (in a normal game a while ago) & could 1 shot people with like 3 saplings in the same bush, having 1 sapling in the bush did minimal damage, but having 3-4 could cause some serious harm/kill someone. Unless there was a recent patch that changed that, like there was a somewhat recent patch that fixed Xerath's Q animation from not casting at a certain point past death anymore, though his other abilities do cast.

It doesn't stack it spreads. Takes too much explaining. But basically if they are on top of each other, everyone gets a scoop of ice cream... if they're scattered, everyone gets their own bowl... its not that they don't add to the damage = more total damage, its thats they don't add as much damage individually = not as much total damage. And this becomes much more costly the more sapplings you have placed. Eg. 2 sapplings on top of each other is close to the same damage as 2 next each other. But 3 on top of each other is alot less than 3 scattered. 4 is almost half... above 5... you be better off placing 2 and saving the CDs

I know I'm not Neace so I'm just throwing out some advice, listen at your own risk 😂 however, as a jungle main I understand your struggle. However it differs depending on the teams, I do find in solo que farm orientated champs like kayn are usually more reliable as if your team isn't setting up any ganks or allowing them you can continue to farm into a late game solo carry. I highly suggest picking up Udyr though, with his E being a non skillshot stun his ganking potential is incredibly high but he also has incredibly strong clears and invade potential so he balances the best of both worlds

I often feel watching other Zyras that people think the E root is the most important thing to think about, but I think it's abusing QWW to get Q dmg and plant turret autos stacking damage all laning phase. I open most combos QWW for the mini turrets, then half second later after seeing how they path outta those ranged plants, I throw an easy E when they're distracted. The QWW does the majority of the damage, the easy-to-dodge E becomes less easy to react to under duress from the plant autos. It's way more efficient, playing any other way for me feels like putting the wrong foot forward.

I don't take him seriously cause I main Aatrox. It's an easy matchup in top lane and if he's support then he won't have enough armor to deny me healing, so in the two more common roles he's played nowadays he's not much of a threat at all. To me personally, ofc, I have seen a Talon jungle once losing his mind cause of saplings littered throughout his jungle lol As jungle he could be a problem, but no more so then any other tank jungler with CC, tbf. Also though, my secondary is my old OTP, Rengar, and in top lane Maokai is an auto loss cause Rengar needs to leverage those bushes for any sort of effectiveness and the tree can just deny that out right, and if I'm jungling and the Maokai is filling my brush with saplings.... more annoying then Teemo shrooms..... lol

what kind of maokai top is losing to aatrox lol? Its fairly easy to kill people as maokai. Sacrifice 4 minions then play in tower. You cannot dive this champ in tower. If you decent you kill, if you bad you just need to hold till team fights. Maokai contributes massively in team fight.

@@resiluck I mean if the Maokai is giving up his lane entirely to me then that counts as a win, as long as I, as Aatrox make use of it, and if you intend to just farm under tower cause I can't dive you, then your jungler can say goodbye to all of his and camps lol Seriously though, the Maokai's only play to actually kill an Aatrox is hope he walks into brush you have saplings in (he never should) and then use your W to dodge one of his Qs, but the Aatrox poke range is outside of Maokai W range so you have to walk through the start of an Aatrox combo just to avoid the Q3 with W, which the Aatrox can just hold for a shorter CD if you haven't used it yet. And if you save it, Aatrox gets the shorter CD, THEN you decide to go in, the Aatrox can just chase you down with another full combo afterwards. Maokai in top must wait for gank assistance to win against an Aatrox, which means the Aatrox has full advantage.

Turn off item sets for champs. Then you can see all the items. You can also click all items in the shop, but it defaults back to the item sets when you have them set. Losing to the shop will hinder you climbing in ranked. I guarantee it. Other than that, being someone who quit years ago and then came back I can relate with you. The games much different from the original game with no plates, rift or bounties. Builds like 5 phantom dancers don't exist anymore lol!!! Anyways you'll get back into the swing of things in no time. Cleanse wont be it due to his kit, W follows through Flash, Ghost sucks but Swifty Chemtank exists and can mitigate it, TP doesnt interact really. Exhaust cant stop his poke being strong meaning he can ignore it entirely if played right, Ignite doesnt stop his good damage and CC from doing its job. Barrier if used right seems like something he cant handle tbh. Heal is similar but more manageable for several reasons. Its Barrier then as Maokai doesnt quite have the damage to chew through it fast enough with either build to avoid getting the shit beat out of him as punishment, passive or not, and his cds are bad enough for most of the game he cant recover quick enough to turn the fight after a Barrier gets popped.

It's definitely not easy to take direction while someone's talking in your ear, but this guy, Garen, and the Bard just... they have no interest in gathering information. When you're driving, you have to constantly check what's going on around you in other lanes, check mirrors, anticipate and avoid issues, and keep track of the next turn/exit you need to make and which lane you should be in. League is the same way. NEACE doesn't talk at people non-stop, but I'm always baffled by the students who are more interested in coming up with verbose responses than ideas about what to do next when he stops talking; you can tell they'd never come up with the play the coach tells them in a million years because they aren't mentally conditioned to look at what's going on outside a 10-Teemo radius around their champ and actively assess what they're going to do next. These guys keep missing enemy pinks to clear, picking the wrong bush when NEACE directs them, and forgetting abilities/item actives because they've mentally imprisoned themselves in the present moment, and only a fraction of the map. Talking while driving is a skill that requires you to have first mastered paying attention and making decisions about what's going on around you.
