Actually, it really depends. There are plenty of secrets I won't share. But this is not one of them. Neah Bay is like 4 hours away from where most people live. And if people had chased more kings rather than Coho it would have been open til the end of the season and we wouldn't have left so much king quota on the table. Additionally, what we did was somewhat challenging. If somebody really wants to catch a king they will do the same program next year, but... you will have to work for it vs just kick back and troll.

I’m a commercial fishermen from neah bay there’s usually kings in any depth on the bottom but always bigger kings in shallower few days this summer we pulled in over 100 kings in a day out front good fishing out there this year

I think I have a similar size boat (~18foot). How safe do you feel in that boat in Neah Bay? I've launched out of Seiku and fished Seiku but never made the run up to Neah Bay. Do you have any general tips for staying safe out there?

I felt very safe. However, you should watch my video called “Westport bottom fishing going over the bar in a small boat”. There’s quite a lot to consider to be safe that you should research and plan for.

That is really tough to say without taking into account all the information in that video. For example a 4 ft swell sounds small, but if it’s 4 ft at 4 seconds it can be dangerous. Additionally, 4 ft at 12 seconds is a flat calm ocean, but if you were running north from Neah Bay and a southerly was expected to kick up, you may have a hard time getting back in safely as things can turn quickly

What’s the outlook this season 2021? I read Neah Bay is close for non residents. I want to go fishing on Sept 2nd. Hopefully it will open by that time.

Yeah, you have to launch in Sekiu to access Neah Bay. Should be good salmon fishing. Last year was epic!
