People talk about his lead playing but him rhythm is sublime

His guitar playing is most definitely horribly underrated. An all time top 5 guitarist. Santana took him to Europe when he was 15. A true phenomenon.
@knightfall93947 ай бұрын
He’s more known for his lead guitar than his rhythm work because from a rhythmic standpoint he doesn’t do anything that makes him stand out. Lights is a cool rhythm part and same goes with mother father but other than that its not like he was known for writing these great riffs

God I love Neal Schon man, he’s my favourite guitarist of all time, he’s such a kind and down to earth guy, he’s had such an influence on my playing!

Totally agree. I've only been a fan since the Journey concert this year. I love him. He gets a lot of negativity from a lot of people, but he's an absolute guitar genius and like you said, such a kind and authentic guy. Love interviews with him.

Yeah, neal is the best living, performing rock player these days. I met neal in the early 90's . he was very cool, down to earth.

In 1979 at 11 years old hearing Neal’s solo on Lights inspired me to Learn and play Guitar. 42 years later Neal is still the biggest influence to my playing and will always be a Guitar Hero to me.

He definitely is cute, and always have loved his boyish laugh! No matter what anyone thinks of him personally, u gotta appreciate his guitar-playing and respect his talent. Wish that he and Johnathan and Steve would find their way back to being friends and do a jam session, even just to watch on you-tube. Bet they'd start to play, and it would feel like ole times. It would be cool to watch!

Such a wonderful man and what a wonderful guitarist. I was very impressed by this interview I have not really heard much about mr. Schon I do believe that he is an honest and upright standing individual and he treats everyone like he would like to be treated I am so glad that I listened to this interview it changed everything I ever thought about him. I love journey I love what he has done with just a magical man. I've listened now to journey for a very very long time and I would like to take this time to thank you for all the wonderful music and all who have participated. I listen to journey all day long and into the night because it is that time of music I love so thank you for that God bless you and keep you and keep on with the music I will be listening.

Excellent interview. Thanks for sharing. Glad to see he still digs the far out stuff from the first albums and talks about playing with George Tickner. As much as I love those first records I'm glad he grew into a song oriented writer as well. Evolution is my fave album with Steve Perry because it still really rocks! I know the ballads sell out arenas but I was sad to see them go in that direction. But I get it and glad they're still rocking today! Neal is one of the best. Was even one of the best at age 15.

I saw Neal with Bad English in Ft Myers Civic Center opening for Whitesnake and Bad English were killer. Then in Albuquerque at this huge club called Confettis i saw him with Hardline. 5 feet away because nobody could stand the volume. On of the best albums of the 90s.😊

Oh and the Streetheart song Hot Cherie had been covered by Danny Spanos, aka George Spanos when in Redbone but Hardline nail it.
