Still working my way through his old podcast and bummed out to know it was no-more, and thrilled to find out "The Blocks" was happening. Unlike 99% of podcasts which you hear once and never think of again, Brennan's podcast have so much valuable info that they are all worth listening to again. That's saying a lot. Roy Wood Jr episode is especially deep.

He’s my favorite guest/person to listen to in the last two years. It really felt like an intimate conversation, he wasn’t elevating his voice to be heard or playing to podcast listeners. I wish everyone could be as equally soothing, knowledgeable, and captivating to listen to as RWJ is.

It’s given me a whole new perspective on my mother and, in turn, on my own parenting journey. Thanks so much to both of you for this. And yeah, still crushing on Neal 😆

I look for the celebration unrelated to the date. The number on the calendrer is just the excuse for me to use to see and get together with people I like, and these people being in my life is what I celebrate. IDGAF about Christmas but I'm going to be attending a party with lots of people I like and it's going to be a good party because they are there and I am there with them.

I want Roy to pilot the Daily Show... and I get that he has hesitation. Back in the day, a presidential candidate had to pretend that he didn't want the job. He had to have a posture of hesitation due to the pressures of doing a good job. It was all an act, obviously in that case, but the fact was that he absolutely had to come into the position with humility. There's merit in the reality, less so in the act alone. Everybody knows that Roy is telling the truth. You don't watch Roy and NOT know he's telling the truth. Leadership is not about all the lies we see in current times; "I have all the answers," but instead having faith in your leaders that when they inevitably make a mistake, they will have the capacity to accept that they have made the mistake, take ownership, and fix it. Please, Roy, throw some elbows. Get that job.

Roy is a great comedian. His take on hosting the Daily Show is interesting. I never understood it in that way before, that you are leading a team, not just cracking jokes and accruing glory. But I hope he finds that perfect fit because he's more than earned that right.

They did a study in the book never split the difference: Negotiating like your life depends on it... They referenced the study. And it was some crazy, high number of people waiting in line to make copies could get through the line of copies by simply saying. "Excuse me I have to make copies"... People would just be accommodating It didn't matter what the reason was basically as long as you gave a reason and asked...

I miss the "old days" where there was just one unified platform and movies just came out in theatres. This algorithm on the KZbins has no idea what I think is funny. Can we stop trying to customize content for individuals for a few years? I would love to see the new generation feel what it was like to be "the guy on T.V." Today it's accompanied by a question, "which T.V.? is it the Apples or the TikToks?" We went too hard on the universe building I feel like.

Neal (velvet rope you're chasing) is the Fraiser "Door Jam" episode. The grass is greener (where you water/tend to it). You want the exclusive thing so you can check it out. Just don't walk into an emerald door *wink* Roy is so calming. Dude has to do a meditation voice over lol. The conversation about generational trauma (specifically Black American trauma) is so important. And might contribute to Roy's imposter syndrome (being small/not boasting about his accomplishments). Our parents and grandparents did the best they could with the tools they had in a MUCH different time. Mental health conversations are relatively new. Some traumas are so painful people have burned the box for which they are contained and expecting them to relive it is cruel. "Calcified Emotions" is a great way to describe it. We have to do the best with all the tools we have and show past generations some compassion/grace. One day we will be the boomers asking younger generations to forgive us (probably for the environment and human rights).

Parenting is the best and worst job. If you try it forces you to evolve. If you don’t try you stay the same garbage person. I have always thought that parenting can bring out the best in you if you try to help support your children, and if you don’t try you get forced into being more and more selfish and terrible of a person.

Love Roy, one of my favorite guests on this show. Love his stand-up and everything else i have seen of him but im mainly here to show love for the podcast. Both of my sons are in therapy and its been a great help to them but cant afford theirs and mine. So, ive been relying on farmboy therapy most my life. Work and the sun to sweat out the bad thoughts, pet something furry to recharge the good and a fair amount of weed. Hearing others talk through some of their issues gives me new insights into mine. I know this aint therapy, its just entertainment and great entertainment at that, but it does help. Plus, it gives me hours of listening pleasure in the barn or field.

there's great different between elicit cooperation and gain control, in parenting. Once we understand that and how it can benefit parents and kids, it changes things, for the better. But it is very hard, for most people, because it takes work and consistency.
