You’re so right about defending. I’m an elite player currently in div 2 but when I get frustrated the video made me realise I pull out my CB and that’s why I concede getting more agitated, and the point you made about how the cb should just be a wall is such good image of how to defend positioning reigns supreme in defending . When I vs some defenders that are slow and I question how I can’t sprint past them it’s because they know to stick to positions awesome video

This year the game is horrible. Defending is bad, i don't know how does my opponents gave speed Boosts. I literally have Nico Williams and I have defenders with 70 Pace or less catching him. While my St juste with 93 Pace and Inácio with 80 Pace don't catch a 85 Pace opponent. To score is very hard because i play a lot of passing and asking my guys to Run with L1 but they always get catched up or marked. I don't even know how do people press O and they take the Ball out of me from behind, front and sides. But i press it and they gain the rebound. Horrible, another year, another fail.

Problem seems to be, as with former fifa's, that if you are too passive, you also get punished, so finding that balance on where to react or let the game do it for you. Because the game is very stupid, and often feels like you have to control all 10 players at the same time, but ofc you can't.

Bro if you play against really good dribbler that passive not tacking will get you 6-0 In no time I swear it works against average player but really skilled players will always embarrassed you n make you feel frustrated. Remember the game is scripted n coded so it's easy to manipulate if you're really good at the game....I guess I'm not! FYI it'd the only game I know how to play fucking irritating 😅

I have been useing this technique (using cms/cdms for moveing around and keeping the CBS in place). It works mostly but there are games where the opponents moves past the midfield like they are not even there, not like the moderately slow paced game play you just showed here. When i have delay its almost impossible to win the ball back. How am i supposed to do it? 2nd man press is always a slight jog. Im very good at reading the play but my players are never fast enough to get into position. Also the players don't lock on, so alot of the time I just run past the opponent. I have an 86 rated team with some 88 rated players, but i can't defend with them as you show it. They feel like tanks, turning super slow. When the opponents player runs towards me, my player is completely immobile. It makes no sense, the opponents just slip through. My players feel as if someone is steering against my moves. If I run to the left, it's as if someone is pulling them to the right. I don't understand it. Also: If the opponent is right in front of me, head-on, with the ball towards my player... then I press tackle, but my player does nothing. No attack, nothing.

I still have one BIG problem: When I play against players like Saka or Doku, they just speed boost right past me and get to the edge of the goal line and then they pass to their striker who then scores. I have to focus on Saka so he can't score directly, so how can I deal with the incoming striker in that moment? And: Basically every game there are multiple situations in which the ball is rolling right next to a player of mine, but the player just isn't try to get the ball... that happens in my offense as well as my defense... it's so annoying and I feel helpless... no idea what's going on there Any help is appreciated. I get the mechanics but something is off ... when your opponent is attacking slow till in front of your 16 mark .My defenders just hold back and don’t even stand close to their opponent,which is really annoying ...Because that’s the point where we need pressure but they just stand there no matter what I do. For example they go past the side line they do a skill move and they stop for support. Pass to the center and they are in front of my cb . But they don’t apply pressure at all and even keep distance which makes it easy to do another skill move ,pass and score. I'm currently in seasons 24-4-4 so that’s not to bad.. can anyone relate my frustration?

I can’t go above .500 on this fkn game. Either it’s broken or I’m fried. This is coming from someone who’s been ranked top 100 in a few sports games in the past and top 300 on Madden 24. So I can work the sticks and can see. I just don’t get how my players can’t close down the ball. Second man press doesn’t work. Do I hold it or tap it or what? Opponents can just sit back and play possession on me comfortably and I can’t make a tackle. Meanwhile they’re tackling my pass receivers as soon as they touch the ball. And from behind! Big guys like Haaland and Lukaku. I don’t get why I can’t tackle them back from behind, front, side. I’m frustrated af right now. My AI players just don’t do anything. Even when I win it feels cheap or like my opponent didn’t know what he was doing.

It depends on the timing of your tackle, and from where you tackle from, if you for example tackle from behind, it's always easier to get carded since you rarely catch the ball, and only the player that way, keep practicing. It is not easy.

You say its not about the players, but all online guides are all FUT. What is it actually like in career mode for Crawley Town, for example, when defenders are only rated around 55!? FC24 they were static, no matter what methods were used. The AI attackers were always much quicker than defenders, and their defenders always seemed to be quicker than my attackers, even with my attackers having a faster pace and acceleration. It would be good to see these guides for career mode as well with lower teams. The majority of FIFA/FC gamers are still career mode focused and don’t care about FUT

You can defend the same way in all teams, its just that pace makes it easier to recover if you make mistakes, I could still defend extremely well with a player with 70 pace, but I advise against it, as if you make a mistake you have less room to recover, but the principles here remain the same for 20 years of defending, sprint speed and def awareness are most important
