I had a ranch in the foothills north of Fresno. I loved Kings Canyon and the Sequoias, second only to Yosemite. This video brought back so many memories and a few tears, but happy tears. Thank you for letting me see this area again.

My wife and I went out that way from Utah last year. We love to pick random roads and explore. Kings was rather interesting. The area was beautiful. We went into Sequoia and just had an amazing experience. My wife, her brother, and his kids had never seen the giant trees. It blew their mind. One of the kids said "I don't understand this. I am looking at these trees, but my brain can not comprehend how big these are." Hike through the trees. ❤❤❤❤❤ Your videos are so well done. Your experience behind the camera is amazing.

Kings Canyon always closes for the winter sometime in the middle of November. It's too bad you didn't know this because once you leave Hume Lake, the drive becomes spectacular, with the Kings River on one side and amazingly beautiful mountains all around you. It truly is a special kind of heaven back there. IMHO, it is equal to Yosemite.

Another fine morning with Catherine! Your delivery of these natural places is second to none! EVERY local tourism/city should PAY YOU for the use of your "invitation to their backyards". Now, if these AI geniuses can figure out how to include "smell-a-vision" with a digital camera, and display. I know how invigorating the mountain fauna aromas can completely erase any stress of common society. Catherine, YOU KNOW how the power of aromas can change your mind, even when you close your eyes! Thanks for another vicarious trip!

Thanks for the vicarious day in the great outdoors away from the mundane! What a gift to be there (and Yosemite prior) without the crowds. I miss the steady stream of discovering new places...turning lines on a map into vivid sensory memories and associations, and leaving with the feeling that your world is richer and broader because you are familiar with another great spot. And as you experienced, building a list of places to check out on return visits. There's always something for "next time" -

I visited King's Canyon, including the General Grant Grove and Hume Lake, in September. I went on a week day and the huge parking for the General Grant Grove was about half full, so there were lots of people on the trail through the grove. However, I still had a really great time walking among the giant sequoias. Because of the majesty of the trees, most everyone kept quiet and only talked in whispers - it was a church-like atmosphere. I also enjoyed observing the other people's reactions to seeing and being among the great trees. You didn't miss much by not going to the panoramic overlook you mentioned. The view from the Hume Lake road that you captured is much more spectacular. Great video (as usual). It really captured the feelings I had when I visited and brought back a lot of wonderful memories.

Wow, it seems like you had your own personal National Park! Been here multiple times, through year 2000! Finally went back earlier this year; seeing those trees was like seeing old friends long lost; it was humbling! In 1985, I was here with my wife, and in-laws from Taiwan. My mother-in-law spoke no English: watching her view the trees for the first time, I didn't need to speak Mandarin to know what she was thinking! These two parks are our favorites to visit. Glad to see your stunning imagery, and thanks for helping me visit Kings Canyon again!

What a treat to accompany you on your hike through Kings Canyon National Park where you were dwarfed by the Giant Sequoias. I've only been to one Redwood National Park many years ago and have wanted to return to see the sequoias as well. I've read many tree books over the years and am so amazed by them. I love hiking thru the big trees and you did a wonderful job giving us that experience. But that Army Corps. of Engineers camp site was a real gem. I used to say the dream of RVing seldom matches the reality of it. That dream being parked by a lake all on you own. But the reality being parked cheek-by-jowl with a hundred other RVers in a big parking lot. You and the Corps. showed us the dream can still be reached.

This is right in my backyard! I go to King's Canyon all the time. Next time when the road is open, you must take the scenic byway down into King's Canyon itself. The Cedar Grove area is one of my favorite places on earth. It rivals Yosemite in beauty with not near the crowds. My dad and I visited the day before they shut it down this year and we saw maybe 20 other people the entire day. There are so many awesome places down there. Grizzly Falls, Roaring River Falls, Knapp's Cabin, Zumwalt Meadow, Road's End, Muir Rock and more! The hikes out of Road's End are some of the best in the Sierras and include the famous Rae Lakes Loop. Great video as always, thanks for sharing!

During a 52 day RV trip from Maine we visited Sequoia NP on 4/16/2018 in the snow and Kings Canyon NP on the 17th. The trees were amazing and not all roads were open yet cause of snow and time of year. Had to rent chains for the truck "if needed" but we didn't need to chain up even though on the way down from Sequoia it snowed and we were in a line of traffic where we passed a car that had "frozen in the middle of the road due to driver inexperience on snow". Hume Lake was beautiful and we took a road back up to the NP which was a fun drive as we weren't totally sure it was open all the way but it was, only once crossing a small un-plowed section of very small depth in the truck. Your photos and videos are always very good. Travel safe.

There is magic in going to super crowded places at a time when they are almost empty. I experienced sequoia and kings canyon that way too back in the 1980’s on a business trip in late October. Those areas are beautiful and those are my favorite trees. Never went to California so thanks for taking me along on the trip. Enjoyed the sign on the Centennial Stump and can understand the people not believing it was real. They didn't travel like we do now so there was not the knowledge of America there is now. By the way wasn't it around that time that people thought that traveling 15 miles per hour on a train would burn people up !!! LOL. You once again have made this day wonderful. Keep up the good work. Oaks, Oaks everywhere. Gosh, we really need some water. "Kings Canyon" what an appropriate name. Wow Catherine you really did this area justice; outstanding video. You went beyond the ordinary capture of the Parks, into its essence; shots that were stunning and so personal; wonderful vision. When we were young my Mother and Grand Mother would take us there to camp, and later into cabins. Bears, solitude and the outdoors. It was a place to treasure, greatly enjoy, and perhaps for my family to get away. Now it seems like some want to burn it down. You are close to our neck of the woods. Many of those trees had been wrapped in fire retardant blankets during the recent fires. The last several years have been brutal. In addition, much of the forest has been killed off by a bark beetle. Glad you got to see at least some of the park. I’m surprised any of it was open, and very surprised there was that much water in Pine Flat, and Hume Lakes. You took what limited access you had to Kings Canyon NP, and still produced a top quality video! You, young lady, have incredible skill! Be safe, stay well, Happy Thanksgiving 🦃!
