Sorry to bother you but what is your opinion of the two LOSH omnibus already released? Is it worth reading?

I had no idea Keith Giffen died!! I actually met him a few years ago at my first DragonCon. He was very nice and signed my copy of JLI #1. He was a big part of my favorite runs of Justice League International and Legion of Superheroes!!

For the Super Powers material, some of the New Gods redesigns were due to the fact that Jeannette Khan asked Kirby to redesign some of them in order for Jack to then be able to share in the profits of those action figures, who had been designed initially before profit sharing was implemented. I always thought that was really great of her and DC.

I have the 4 volume standard size hardcovers of the original Fourth World saga that came out in the late 2000's, but I also have the 2 volume Absolutes. I am definitely getting this omni though, despite not having volume one in omni format. I was a Super Powers action figure fanatic when I was a kid, and much of my love for all things DC directly stems from that figure line. I'm a sucker for anything Fourth World related. I can't wait to see those mini comics that came with the figures restored in this volume. Hope fully we eventually get a third omni that has things like Cosmic Odyssey, Mark Evanier's New Gods series, JM DeMatteis's Mister Miracle run, etc.

On the fence because I have a BUNCH of this material, but all the toy tie-in stuff, the uncollected material, and the bonus features make this more tempting than I had initially thought

Great video! Definitely picking this one up soon! Makes me feel so happy when someone mentions that Secret Society of Super Villains book!! When I started rebuilding my collection after the "Great Neuter/Spay" event, those two hc's were at the top of my list. Such a fun, short lived series. One of my all time favorite covers was Grodd holding Capt Comet with Kid Flash running around him.

If I have my DC Comics history correct, when Kenner was starting up their Super Powers action figure line, they wanted to utilize the characters of Kirby's New Gods. Kirby was invited by DC Comics publisher Jenette Kahn to return to his creation so that he could earn royalties for his work.

I wasn’t expecting this. It would be a great addition to my Jack Kirby’s Fourth World, John Byrne’s Fourth World, and Walt Simonson’s Orion. Am I missing any books?

New Gods: Bloodlines and Advent of Darkness are available in TPB (28 issues,) but I'm not sure if they are worth it.

Cosmic Odyssey and Death of the New God's are important Fourth World stories, and of course Final Crisis.

"The Great Darkness saga" is more enjoyable when the reader is more familiar with all the LOSH characters and lore, otherwise the reader is not completely conscious of the stakes. It's very similar to reading the Dark Phoenix saga without having read the previous issues of Claremont-Byrne preparing the road to the event. For those interested, the next hardcover editions can help readers to warm up on the LOSH characters and lore before embarking into the The Great Darkness Saga: > Superboy and The Legion of Super Heroes Volume 1 > Superboy and The Legion of Super Heroes Volume 2 > Legion of Super-Heroes Before the Darkness Volume 1 > Legion of Super-Heroes Before the Darkness Volume 2 That said, some of these books are already quite expensive, especially the first one.

I was browsing IST, wanting to buy a Omnibus and was sure what I wanted to get from my very big Wishlist, was semi torn between the Iron Man Omni on sale and some other...decided I was too indecisive and put it off for the next day....said next day came and there on the front page was The Fourth World Vol.2. I never clicked "add to cart" as fast as I did then! For the price of $62, I nabbed this beauty up right quick! There's something about the way these stories are drawn and told that just hits satisfactorily in a way other comics don't quite hit. Darkseid is probably my all-time #1 fav villain/threat and just soooooo eager to dive into these stories fully now! . I'm guessing this is where The Fourth World stuff ends as it's presented n Volume 1 & 2? Or would there be any other missing material to make a Volume 3 or companion piece?
@Doom-if9xd10 ай бұрын
I was always confused with the Super Powers comics because they're not supposed to be in the main continuity and yet Super Powers vol.2 starts exactly where the Hunger Dogs ended. And the Hunger Dogs were canon at the time.

Theres a New Gods series from 1989 by Mark Evanier that has been collected into 2x TPBs. There's some uncollected stuff though still - Forever People (1988), Mister Miracle (1989), New Gods (1995), Mister Miracle (1996) & Takion (1996) that take place between this omnibus and Bryne's run

Read Conway's 7 follow-up issues to Kirby's NG a few years ago and they're unfortunately still one of the worst things I've read. A bore and uninteresting. I really loved Kirby's work and other renditions like Simonson's Orion omnibus, but this... Perhaps I'm being too harsh. Good to see there's a lot of other stuff collected in this omni, I'm sure that makes it worth the price.
