So glad to see this. I had the first couple dozen issues when they first came out back when I was a kid, but lost my collection several years later. So I was excited to get the first two omnis and now we get into the issues that I didn’t get back in the day. So cool! Also glad that they went with three 700 or so pages instead of two 1,200+ pages mega omnis.

My first Marvel comic book was X-Men #168 and I bought it at 7-Eleven. I am trying to remember if I bought any ROM comic books, but more than likely, I do not recall any. I remember seeing the title at the spinner rack, but I can't remember if I had purchase any X-Men crossovers. I am VERY HAPPY (X-STATIC) that this volume 3 wraps up the series in omnibus format. It brings me hope for the New Mutants potentially omnibus Volume #4 to wrap up that series. Thanks for the video, Omar!

This was the era where I jumped on board with collecting ROM back in the 80s right at the end of tbe Buscema era. Of course right after I spent considerable time and effort getting these back issues for a custom bind a few years ago, Marvel announced it had gotten the rights to ROM and doing the omnibus reprints. I'm so glad they are including the letters pages.

Since I have already given my first comic ,both ROM and just first comic I will relate instead how I recently got the ROM first issue facsimiles and it reminded me of how great the book was when I was reading them back in the days, Mantlo and Buscema were an underrated if not overlooked team in comics , it was a fun sci fi adventure at its best...also a very belated condolences on your loss

My first ROM comics were off the spinner rack at 7-11. Issues 17 and 18 with the X-men. I bought both at the same time just from the covers. I became a ROM fan instantly and eventually went and got the previous issues and waited every month for the newest one.

My first Rom comic was the facsimile edition of the very first issue that Marvel released in September 2023. I'd heard people talk about this series and Micronauts with such reverence, and the first issue hooked me. I bought both previous volumes day one! Can't wait to finish out the series.

Rom 1 was my first Rom book. But my first comic I bought when I decided to collect was Action Comics 544 back in 1982. That Brainiac and Luthor upgrade was so awesome back then!

Going to cheat a little as my first ROM comic was the awesome house ad by Sal Buscema that showed up in so many Marvel comics when i was a kid. But technically the Vol 1 Omni was my first ROM comic, as i never had a chance to read them until now. I liked that house ad so much, it was the cover i chose for Omni 1!

My first Rom comic book was Rom #1 which was part of Spider Man weekly comic books in Greece (where I grew up). Spider Man comics were published with other comics stories in single issues there, so you'd get for example Avengers, Irona Man, Rom, Hulk, Daredevil published as 2nd stories along with the comic (sorry for the long explanation) 🙂. As for cover preference, they both look good here on the Omnibus release, while I like the Bill Sienkiewicz which ooks a bit more mysterious and dramatic I also like the standard edition because it is nice and crip! I do love ROM, originally picked it up straight from issue 1 when it came out. Have got the first volume of this but I don't think I ever read much past the fate of the Torpedo, so am keen to get volumes 2 and 3 and read the entire saga. Two great covers there as well.

Rom issue 1 was my first Rom comic. I was actually in the hospital at the time so my Pop would come in with comics for me while I was there. It was one of the good things about having epilepsy as a kid. If I was going to get stuck in the hospital at least I had the comics keeping me company. My first Rom comics were issues 17 and 18, hunted down in backissue longboxes because I had heard X-Men guest appeared there. I bought them for 50 cents a piece! Then I went back and bought the first 50 issues, as that backissue bin had the uninterrupted run, all of them 50 cents a piece. Score! Man, times have changed!

The first issue of Rom I ever read was issue #5, not the best place to jump into a series but I hung in there and at least I had seen ads for the Toy and the Marvel House ads for the comic so I kind of knew who ROM was and eventually tracked I down copies of issue #1-4.

Writer Bill Mantlo basically took the alien Klaatu and his 8foot tall robot Gort and merged them into one hero. The Dire Wraiths are a mixture of Invasion of the body Snatchers, and the Xenomorph from Alien/s movies. Hybrid as well.
