This game is huge, I disagree with this guy saying it doesn’t matter. We have an opportunity to have a winning season or a losing season. A losing season says we are not getting better, sure we played a bowl game but on paper it’s still a losing season that recruits see and national media. However if you win the game, it’s a WINNING SEASON! Shows progression. Moving in the right direction. We need to win this game! End of story…

What's really interesting about going to a bowl game is that 4 top ranked teams did not play in a bowl game this year. They lost their first game in the playoffs so wondering how important bowl games are in this new college football era? I would rather miss a bowl game and lose my first round in the playoffs. At least my team would be one of the elites in the nation so how much does a bowl game really mean?

Huge for what? Recruits know all about Nebraska Football. So many of these young men are friends and talk on social media and ask, "What is it like playing for Rhule?" That feedback from their friends is what really counts. Do ya really think a player is going to be like, "Wow! Did you see those Huskers play against BC in the Pinstripe Bowl and win 23-20? That is where I want to go!" LOL!

To me, we get our bowl practices and our bowl game, we get a chance to play players that have not played all year because others are leaving, and if I'm being honest all I want to see from the guys is four quarters of clean football and 100% effort. If we can achieve that, I will feel better about next year and how we will play going forward.

As far as who wins the game, I want to say Nebraska but it really just depends on whether or not we get a complete effort from the team. That is been the same for every game this year, whether or not we can play four quarters of football. We have to shore up the defense when it comes to the short and intermediate passes that have extended drives and killed us all year long, we have to scheme players open because our wide receivers just don't get open by themselves. I think if we can accomplish both of those things than Nebraska wins if we get a complete football game from our team.

Our problem is not player personnel (which is hard to believe), the problem has been poor coaching on the offensive side of the ball(Rhuley/Satt/Dana), poor clock management. So change up the player line up, keep the same inefficient coaches in place including Dana, you’ll get the same result, then Rhuley will tell us at the news conference how proud he is of his guys, and “they just haven’t had enough time together”…. Losing 5 of your last 6, now you’re gonna resurrect things in a bowl game changing you personel. Lol.

As crass as bowl games have been pushed to. As far as momentum into the next season? That shit still I think, is a reality. Historically speaking. Teams that win their bowl games usually fair very well the following year. Teams that lose quit often suffer. The energy off a win moving into spring has some palpability to it.
