I think it’s a reference to how this Godzilla charges his atomic breath in the movie. It pulses in different areas before firing. That’s my guess.

I don’t think the maser ever hit Godzilla when he was charging in that movie but I know that the 2002 and 2003 Godzilla design charge up is a bit different. His spines always flicker before the breath attack instead of a tail to head light up, so they might be trying to replicate him charging up. Also from a design point of view, maybe it just looked weird putting yellow all over the front so they decided to give the repaint more color in general.

Thanks you! And no they haven’t. I hope they get the license back someday. They really are the most well rounded producers of Godzilla figures. Just articulated and detailed enough to seem high end while also having a very reasonable price.

Hopefully in the future neca will be able to get have the green light to make not just Godzilla figures but also other kaiju figures from the MV and Toho’s library. Only time will tell.

I got that one from target, but it cost me an arm and a leg for the reactor glow lootbox one, and the original 1954 poster box one.

I totally agree man, it was definitely a pointless release. I'm also not a big fan of variant figures. It would have made far more sense to release one without the scar like you said

At the moment, the only option is SHMA. If you wait a few months, there will be more companies releasing figures with articulation.

I don't mind this figure, but it is a strange variant choice. I think NECA could have retooled the chest and released it as the 2002 KiryuGoji. This variant seems like a cool idea if there was a Kiryu to go with it. Why did this (and the standard version) not come with an atomic breath piece? 1989 had one. The lower neck/shoulder joint looks even worse here. It's an unnecessary joint.

I didn’t got this figure because it looks very bad, looks like a quick cash grab (the paint job shows), another unnecessary figure in the line, and the same problems of the figure’s sculpt in my opinion. 4:30 to 5:03 , I know it looks weird and it’s dumb decision on Neca for making the shoulder pieces being a part of the neck piece instead of being individual piece like the SHMA Godzilla 2002. A maser blast Godzilla figure is an interesting idea for a figure, but poor execution for the final product of this figure.

Yeah, it wasn't the best way to go out. THis felt like 1/2 of a display where they needed Kiryu to go with it.

I never got this one. The paint scheme never really appealed to me. It’s fine decently well but I feel it’s even stranger than the bile one. Seeing as this one is something in action happening, and we don’t have any Kiryu to go with it.

Exactly! If there was Kiryu with a maser effect to pose with it, this would make sense. This feels like 1/2 of a display.
