Sorry I didn’t respond. Hopefully you found someone that could help you. If you didn’t, I recommend that you join a vintage sewing machine group on Facebook. There are some amazing people that are much more knowledgeable about vintage machines than I am. They usually love sharing their knowledge.

I no longer have that machine so I can't video it now. The foot pedal is used by gently pushing down on it with your foot to make the machine sew. The harder you push on the pedal, the faster the machine sews.

there's a couple good videos out there about how to diagnose where the issue with your tension is, top too tight or bobbin or whichever. that doesn't change with the machine majorly.
