Loving this repair. I have been caught out by hidden heel screws before!! At the end, I put a sticker inside the guitar to warn the next luthier about the heel screw!!

It's a wonderful thing that in this world of disposable stuff, their are luthiers like you who save the day. I'm glad you take proper precautions when it comes to fumes and chemicals.

Great video and cool guitar. I’ve seen enough of your videos that I’m starting to hear your mannerisms and funny voices even without you saying them.

Hopefully the owner is up for the binding repair. I have seven Gretsch guitars; my two Monkees models need the fretboard binding fixed (well, likely replaced, as there are dozens of breaks). I retire in two weeks, so I'll have the time to make sixty year old looking binding.

Why use Fish Glue vs Hyde Glue at the neck/body connection?
@harpethguitar6 ай бұрын
Fish glue is more resilient to contaminants and such

Nicely done for sure, dumb question. Why did you mark the bass side frets that you removed if your where going to do a fret job, or did i miss something. Keep up the great videos.

I'm a little bit worried about how popular heat setting necks seems to be.. to me the moister you're baking out can and will come back over time. I know heat setting is a thing.. I''ve used it a lot! But to change how the wood cells stack take time and doesn't work if the woods too thick.. A 1/8th piece of 3 ply laminate will stay.. a 2 inch deep neck?

I will add that my knowledge comes from working on boats.. so maybe if you're axe doesn't float in salt water it'll hold up better :)

It has a steel truss rod, truss rod nut and washer rescue and the new frets were glued in with fish glue. That should hold it 🤞
@gregoaks44139 ай бұрын
will that neck stay that way ... I hope so
