Ana Matulic yea i honestly find it to be the best for a few reasons. To set up, just tie the band/bands around a pole and put some form of support between you and the pole (i use a table). this way you can stand or kneel depending on the table height. in my opinion it is the most comfortable neck variation. and to progress, just continue adding bands. I believe because of this, it has to best loading capacity out of any neck exercise. It’s hard to go beyond two plates and the table plate loaded version so you have to resort to volume. That’s not a bad thing but i prefer to go heaver. So just buy some bands with high tension and you are good to go!

Have you tried hanging a harness with a loading pin and doing rep work with just pushing or pulling the loading pin against various angles? That's basically how I have been solving my laziness for neck work. It's still tension and I haven't really lost size. Just do 100-200 reps of neck curls and extensions. Even sides. And it's pretty to setup when you are lazy. Just harness and pin. Literally a easy solution for me.

Hello Alex, I hope you are well! Concurrent periodization is going really great for me - I can now overhead press 165x8. I'm getting back into benching and just had two really quick questions: 1) Does reverse band benching and normal band benching have enough difference between them to override the biological law of accomodation? I know they both have different properties (regular bands has the overspeed eccentrics and adds weight at bottom), but I was wondering your opinion if they were different enough to be used on different bench days. 2) I'm a long limbed lifter (wingspan longer than height) and am afraid the floor press will have no carryover to my raw bench. I'm thinking about using an narrow grip (shoulder width grip) and putting 2 45 pound plates under me as well as 2 mats to lengthen the range of motion, and was wondering with all of this if you still think the Floor Press is a good accessory for me to improve dead stop power from the bottom of my raw bench. I'd love to dead bench but my experience deadbenching in the past gave me a labrum injury.
@AlexLeonidas5 жыл бұрын
1) 100% yes 2) I think that's a great idea, and even with the long arms I'd still do the standard version. That said you have to experiment with these variations to determine what provides carryover. Experience will tell you what works best. Cheers Justin!

It's the opposite. It may feel that way because he's using the plate version (which is limited), but with a head harness or four way neck machine the extension will be significantly stronger. This is also the idea way of doing the neck extension, not the plate.

Best intermediate program!? I need advice fast, i hit your intermediate strenght standards and since that, my training has been little bit random. I want both size and strenght and i dont know what to do.

Hey Roni, if you like the way I train I'd recommend my NE program (details at outalpha.com/ne) Alternatively, you can run the Westside Barbell Conjugate system or a high frequency setup (full body or Bulgarian). Whatever gets you consistent brother.

@@AlexLeonidas thank you for the fast response man!! I would buy NE but im kinda poor atm, no job and still in school. So what do you think about Texas method? I like the 3 M,W,F training style and kinda interested in powerlifting, but still want to look good and big.

Im 3 weeks into N.E. and the first time I did the neck workout I was laughing my ass off. IDK why its so funny to me but walking around with a pumped neck always gets to me lol

Is training neck 4 times a week meaning I have 2 consecutive days training the same muscle too much? I am doing 10x10 10s rest front and back extensions
@miavolosss5 жыл бұрын
4 days a week probably means every 48 hours. So technically 3/4 days a week
@icejumperke5 жыл бұрын
@Kec - Yes. Do 3 times instead: Mo, Wed, Fri e.g. That way you don’t have two consecutive days.

reassons why im not training it is first i get dizzy as fuck and i want to throw up even with bodywheight neck curls second im extremely lazy and bored i dont train abs to and i dont do cardio eather i do what i lke i can't force myself to do something cause simply it's not gonna work and if i start training it i know i will get lazy and i will lose it so no reasons for me even that its awesome and badass and i want a huge neck and lately even that im obssesed with gym and getting stronger this passion is fading cause im tired watching girls stronger than me and being crap with shity genetics overall

Hey Alex, do you have any idea how i can work around really really high tricep insertions? i can fit like 7-8 fingers from my elbow up to my long head. It looks like shit from the back unless i flex. Im also 6"3 so it makes it all a little worse for getting big arms.

@@AlexLeonidas its interesting, cuz we both had the same neck size, and after we started lifting gained two inches flexed. He got lazy and lost that neck fast. It is kinda sad how easy it was to loose neck size, and this video is something he must see.

Strictly from my experience, I will say that you can get a big neck by simply pulling heavy ass weights. My neck is 18 inches and I never ever trained it directly. It wasn't big genetically ( I used to be very skinny) majority of my neck gains came from heavy barbell rows, t bar rows, shrugs etc. I don't really know why it causes neck hypertrophy but I ll go with power breeding and contracting that occures when lifting heavy. I don't say direct neck training is a waste of time, but for some like me it's simply not necessary if you already have a pretty big neck.

Hello Bismark, see kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIC5YayflrCYftk&t If you want optimal (key word) neck gains, direct work will always be 100% mandatory. This includes you, I guarantee that you can easily surpass 18 inches and your neck would get significantly stronger with specific work. That said, I agree that if you're satisfied with your current size it wouldn't be necessary. 18 inches is definitely solid so I understand where you're coming from.

For me the only reason why I don't train neck is because every time I tried I get so dizzy that I puke right there in the middle of the gym after only like 2 sets. Not something I really like doing so...
@AlexLeonidas5 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that James
@xminteee3005 жыл бұрын
James Sarvan had the same problem, try not tilting your head so far back on the neck curls. Only go to parallel to the floor and you shouldn’t feel so dizzy
