Is neck turning done to keep pressure more uniform (shot to shot) by controlling neck tension?

That is a by product of neck turning. Most people turn the necks because their chamber requires turning of the brass in order for the loaded round to fit into the chamber.

@@user-rt7xe6dt9j Are sizing dies not enough due to the variance a chamber in the rifle may have and if it were sized down enough the throat would be undersized for the bullet? I only reload 357/38 at the moment so this is new to me.
