Right? The main fantasy for necromancers in most stories is about raising armies of the dead...yet so many prefer to run builds that don't do that...all bout the numbers I guess. Me I prefer my army filling half the screen even if it isn't the best damage dealer or speed clearer. But that's just me ( EDIT: I love me some corpse explosion too, but that's secondary to an army for me )

My fight with Andariel was really tough one. I had to go back to town fill up with potions and come back. Teeth did not do that much damage. Golem was fine with melee but as soon as Andariel cast some magic on him it was one shot kill. Spamming the teeth and golem all the time without mana. And that was normal difficulty. I expected easier fight with this guide to be honest.

Had the same issue, and switching between spells fast enough to summon a new golem, only for it to die at the first sneeze from Andariel, was annoying. Helps if you have your merc joining the fray. And have a portal open to run away just in case it gets dicey. 😹

i think you might wanna use the iron maiden curse because of its 200 percent damage returned, summon golem and curse andariel with iron maiden and just repeat, everytime andariel damage the golem, it will damage her aswell i think

I got a sweet deal for 6k gold. I used to make build back in the day with Guild Wars. I remember I made 2 famous builds. A Necromancer with +11 minions with ranger sub build for passive heal to keep my minions in a immortal state. The wand with 50% chance to add an extra summon was a game changer. i got from a deal which I had fun haggled around a beautiful beach. My summoner pretty much replaced the nukers. It's funny everyone was looking down on the Necromancer and prefer a nuker for farming run. That was before Arena net add bots as team members because real players was bad. They all want to do their own things. The other build was from a Mesmer, it kill any players that touch my character in the arena, including the healer on my team. Oh, the blood sacrifice build was even amazing. In guild battle, I sacrifice 90% of my health to a team healer that was being focused by enemy team and it heal em instantly while I'm on the back line just chilling.

Summoners are terrible for leveling; very slow, no way to control your minions, etc. It's very easy and super laid back, but it'll take you forever to level, so Bone is considered much better. Get through Hell, get some gear, then respec into minions.

thats why you should get the insight rune word and put it in 4 socket polearm for your merc. Total game-changer for this build - because of the meditation aura you will not struggle with mana anymore. I did at least 50 countess runs on nightmare just to get all the runes, also finding the right polearm was really frustrating, but in the end it was well worth it.

@@firstname4337 Staff or amu of teleport. This guide already requires it. I've never had any trouble with either in thousands of hours of necro play over 20 years. Amp Damage, teleport, corpse explode. Or just teleport passed everything.

Lololol no, summoner is *easier* but definitely, absolutely, much slower. Good luck keeping your minions alive for bosses without solid gear/buffs, and the golem+IM trick stops working after Normal difficulty.

you make it sound so quick and simple to get up to nightmare difficulty but i'm out here getting stonewalled by unique mobs when i got next to no mana and very limited damage. i ended up overlevelled in every instance where you said to do something yet i'm getting absolutely dumpstered trying to keep up and get to nightmare so i can make this runeword wand and hopefully stop struggling. ancients way is absolutely impossible to get through since half the mobs don't leave corpses to use corpse explosion on lmao

This is a great guide I've been following it this ladder however I would recommend people not skimp out on their merc, specificailly act 2 merc and specifically the act 2 merc on nightmare (when you get there). THEN beyond that just keep an eye out for a 4 socket POLEARM (NOT SPEAR, POLEARM) and put Insight in it which requires very very minimal rune investment, and if you're farming Countess like the guide recommends you will have the runes sooner than you might think (and if you don't, save an Amethyst cause the Sol rune is harder to get than the other runes). If you can get a decent enough polearm (no it doesn't have to be perfect and no it doesn't have to be thresher or otherwise best in slot) you won't worry about mana for a long time then you can swap out those mana potions for rejuvenations OR health even. Stay alive. Forget the golem, Mercenaries are so much more useful. SO much more useful.

@@condorX2 Put Insight in it which is Ral Tir Tal Sol in that order. You want to get an Act 2 NIGHTMARE Merc (the one with Holy Freeze) but if you are still getting through Normal, the Act 2 Normal merc is good too. Forget which one exactly but I can find out if you like. I am just waiting to get the runes necessary for Treachery or something else to put in his armor and I got really lucky I found a goddamn Vampiric Gaze helm doing Nightmare Mephisto last night so he has lifesteal among other benefits. But yeah Merc is extremely useful if only for the mana regen you get from Insight. It's nice not having to go back and get potions every 10 minutes anymore.

Maximum possible to summon skeletons, then mastery of skeletons. one in golem One in First Curse One in iron maiden. I killed Diablo with 16 Summons (two were given to me by an item) 7 Skeleton Mastery 4 in Skeleton Wizard 1 in curse 1 on clay 1 in maiden Have fun.

Love your vids Rhykker but IMO the guide your showing recommending Bone as easier to build is written by someone who doesn't play necy's that much. I've built as both summoner and bone and summoner is easier and you don't chug pots constantly. So here's the build order, most of the other things you recommend are the same...just go spirit sword over white wand. Pts 1-3 Raise Skelly Warrior pt 4 Skelly mastery pt 5 Amp Damage 6-7 Raise Skelly 8 Clay Golem 9-14 Raise Skelly 15 Iron Maiden 16-25 Raise Skelly At lvl 14 you have Iron Maiden + Golem to use for bosses, at lvl 23 you have maxed Raise Skelly. You will roll through everything except Diablo, for D you will IM/Golem him to death. No issue with Baal or the minions. Once in Nightmare re-spec to Bone or Poison if that is your goal.

Teo is a competitive D2 speed runner, so he definitely knows what he's talking about in his guides. Summoners are easier, yes, but they're _much much_ slower, and without a reliable teleport you have no control over your minions (and controlling minions with a tele staff gets expensive fast!) This is why Bone is recommended for leveling. The damage is much better, Bone Wall makes it safer, and you won't take ages to level.

Its a very good guide, but its still very difficult as the game progresses. It feels this is a way to power or speed level for players that are already experience, not for new players. For example I had to level up a few levels to even kill the last act 1 boss in the temple... Even with all the required gears with the build guild I still had issues. I was 4 or 5 levels more that the suggested lvl for each act... Its a difficult game picking it up for the 1st time

Yeah, I also noticed that with skeleton mastery and raise skeleton. I found a wand with +2 raise skeleton and +1 skeleton mastery that got me to the demonic skeletons with the horns real quick i was annihilating enemies, bosses etc it was just too easy on Normal lol btw half way through the game I found the same stats from my wand but it was on my zombie head. So stacking it together made things much easier then it already was.

To answer your question 1 year later: If you hover your mouse over an ability and press F1, it will bind the spell to F1 (F2, F3, etc) You can bind up to 16 abilities and change the hotkeys in the Options Hope this helps and that you have an amazing day!

I just started a necro and are seeing I spend most of my time shopping for the white wand and it seam's pointless to reroll for the bone spear magic wand as if I can use bone spear I might as well be shopping for the +3 BS white Rune word wand. But the wand rolling is great for making cash :) Other than that the guide has ben great. PS. I shopped at Drodnan not thinking about shopping at Ormus. :(

Found a blue wand with level 9 teeth (127 charges), only require lv. 7 on all classes and can be used at lv. 1 on necro lol, it has served me very well. Just rolled myself a necro, plan to go psn nova later on, just hit 35 and made my +8 bone spear white wand.

Just started a Necro on Ladder as well and found me a +3 Summon Skeleton, +2 Sleleton Mastery and +3 Ampily Damage Wand from Akara... Of course I went completely different direction and I have used skill points to skeletons :D but it seems it is working on this base difficulty level. I'm having a hard time understanding how you can spam your teeth so much? I spam it 5 times and I'm out of energy. I seem to spending way to much gold on mana potions to save up for anything and I aint finding enough potions through looting. Most of the the fights are me running around hoping my golem and mercenary can kill mobs because I just have no mana to do anything.

This doesn't work or im doing something wrong. i respecced from summoner at lvl 18 to this build with bone spear and i completely bricked the character, i can't solo anything. It depends on the runewords used. Some are ladder specific. In all other regards yes, it shouldn't make a difference. I followed them for other characters offline.

man, normal duriel was a bitch with just +5 bone spear at level 21 - even with ancients shield. 1-shot my blood golem and walls so quickly I couldn't get iron maiden to be effective, had to portal in and out just bone spearing and regrouping with potions.

Teeth isn't all that amazing a skill, but the aoe it offers is faster leveling than trying to melee attack things yourself or relying on weak minions that wander around on their own, attacking only when they feel like it, lol. Keep at it and you'll hit that respec level before you know it. Bone Spear is _very_ much better than Teeth and you'll notice the improvement immediately.

Also use amplify damage curse to raise your dps. I also put one point in most of the summon tree for the mobile meat shield. This build gets really good once you obtain a insight rune word for your merc.

Takes _forever_ and without enigma, controlling your minions is either impossible (no tele staff) or very expensive (tele staff). It's definitely easier, but it's sooo sloooow.

Worst thing about D2 is the pots. IDC how long my summons take I'm rocking with them over chugging pots.

The only issue the leveling guide has is, that you cant open the Cow level unless you kill Baal.

So many teeth lol. I remember my very first necromancer aka my first ever diablo 2 character, god i was like 8 or 9 years old Focused on 6alll summons and a legendary maul called bone snap maul, had a skull for the hammer end and took outrageous strength requirements that I hit only with gear and necro swings the maul so funny lol.

Also, bis for fishymancer (ce/summon) is just all mf gear and enigma because it's so powerful even naked that you can solo any immunes in the game. I have been running nilithack Diablo and Baal with 499%mf. Definitely starting with fishymancer at ladder

Skel mage is terrible. 1 point to get past it. Nothing more, ever. Mrlammasc did testing with a full mage build and lower resist curse. It did horribly compared to reg skels with amp dmg

Hey rhykker community - just wanted to see if there was a very giving soul out there. I hit level 77 on my necro, found a dagger and thought, man this would be cool to use - and i respec’d my bone necro into poison. Come to find out, my bone necro performed way better as opposed to poison nova. I used up all my respecs, so I wanted to see if anyone could help me with a respec token. I’m willing to trade everything in my storage for it(i have some ok stuff). In the mean time, I’m going to reroll a druid and hope there is someone that has the ability to assist. Otherwise rip - 99 ladder *gameshow wah wah wah*

Imagine being a build bot. Riding someone else's imagination to get through the game. You get to the end using some giga optimized, mathematically perfect build and still have the audacity to say you beat the game. No. The group of people that collaborated the build over the years did. You just relived the experience in an interactive replay 🤣 People love to pimp out these builds by saying "as a new player you really need to follow a build". Meanwhile, as someone that's been playing Diablo since the original released as a brand new title, there was a time when people played this game just fine before social media existed. There were no build guides.
