I always found it weird that these guys were the most organized in the Riddick setting. Pedro Henrique Porto I disagree. Coalitions with one clear goal (defense and survival in this case) are fairly effective. Apparently the Purifier, the pale white haired Necromonger aide was also a Furian survivor. Riddick was no the only one. The Purifier later died when he walked out of the landing hangar in planet Crematoria exposing himself to the planet's deadly hyper-heated winds that scorched its surface on a permanent basis many times a day. He mentioned to Riddick before dying that his Necromonger half wanted him to avoid Lord Marshall but his Furian side wanted him not to listen the advice; so after delivering that message he jumped out in to the deadly wind stream to die consumed by its fire and to finally free himself from the Necromonger convertion and dying as a Furian. As the Necromonger doctrine profeses: 'You always keep what you kill' so the Lord Marshall having killed the Furian in him to transform him into a converted Necromonger, now he himself is correcting the mistake by killing the Necromonger in him to keep (and die with) his Furian soul.

If these guys were in a 4X space game, something tells me they’d be awesome planet invaders and space combat focused but would be crap in terms of economy and research, at least if relying solely on their non-pillaging abilities. (Zuul, Cravers, Elarians, Et Cetra)
@rham58176 жыл бұрын
Honestly, if they didn't have their fleet tech I don't think they'd be viable at all. Otherwise a great portion of their army uses melee weapons which 'shouldn't' be effective. It sounds like most of their warfare relies heavily on the blitzkrieg idea, and blitzkrieg relies on faster equipment and something strong enough to disable or destroy equipment. They'd make for a great end game enemy in say Stellaris, but their early game seems like it would be very poor. I love the premise for them though, just trying to think from that research standpoint and knowing most of the games don't give much in the way of starting tech advantages if anything. Definitely agree their economy should probably be awful and based on looting. They're sort of like space vikings down to Valhalla.
@iona22256 жыл бұрын
Ooo! Someone take notes and make a mod! :3 I was recently informed that they are like a new species in Endless space 2 that are predominantly on massive starships, 'harvesting' sentient species as a resource, in a similar vein as the Necros. :) but apparently are overpowered and no one likes other people playing them, my informant became particularly... passionate when describing how they are used in multiplayer. And for their penchant for close-combat, I think how it's so effective is due to how, in the setting at least, how unconventionally aggressive it is, where there is only the most basic of battle plans, and they swarm the field of battle in such a way modern forces won't be able to effectively repel, especially given their lack of pain and fear. Plus, they could have effective armor, which explains why their own weapons may be gravity based, as it would effectively be a blunt weapon against their armor where other methods of firearms is focused more on par with an arrow or spear speed and penetration focused.

Really interesting characters, kinda hated how we didn't really learn more about them. I appreciate this information.

Only issue i feel with such invasion premises is that we see an attack on what amounts ti a single city, but it is to represent an entire planet. Setting that universal nitpick aside, I love this film, especially the extended cut.

Actually its the 3rd movie in the 4-movie canon. “Dark Fury,”the 2nd movie, was a direct-to-DVD anime that chronologically occurs between “Pitch Black” and “Chronicles.”

I know you usually do movie and video game monsters,but the Ardsheal from the Magic Kingdom of Landover novels,specifically Witches Brew, has always fascinated me. Might look it up
