Necromunda Tactics Episode 5 Wyrd Powers
Today we talk about Wyrd Powers. Going over many of the most useful and the most useless powers that are out there. We also cover some of the Psyker Hive Scum, Bounty Hunters, and Brutes you may come across in the Underhive

Stuart Mansfield thank you! My best “tactic” is to know the rules well! And hopefully these vids help with those weird/obscure/confusing rules that regularly get forgotten

Love your channel, no one else out there for this. Would love to see individual gang tactica, and bat reps ( I know it's time consuming, but seeing your perspective in action would be so educational!) Much much respect to you my dude!!

phil saunders Thank you for the support Phil! I am trying to come up with how I want to do my Bat Reps because I do want to make them BUT I want to stop and talk about what is going on tactically for each player and I’m not sure how to do that without making the vid 10 hours long. You have no idea how much talking I do when I make these vids and then cut it down to about a quarter of my nasally ramblings lol!? We will get it figured out! Thank you for watching!

Van Saar gang box comes with a pair of open hand left arms, y'know. They're in an armored body glove sleeve as you'd expect, but stitched-together clothes seems appropos for a wyrdscum. Amusingly, there's a Dramatis Personae character in the House of Artifice book who's a bounty hunter in a full-on arachnirig suit whose father and friends were killed by Alice - maybe her left sleeve is a trophy of that incident?

Remember the blaze trait. Scouring and handflamers are NOT bad. You use them to blaze people not to wound them. The wounds are just a bonus if you get them. Last battle I used a incendiary grenade first round to set blaze on 4 enemy fighters. Thats 4 activations they lost that turn.

petrus1981 I agree! The 9” template does have its advantages of auto pinning to stop charges as most fighters have a 7-8” charge range. (I cover this in my Enforcer review part 1) And if you light them up like Marv in Home Alone then even better. 🤣. I'm personally very biased against Str 1-2 weapons but that doesn't mean they can't be tools to use despite the fact that you may need a 6 to wound with them!? 😁

@@StaticElf Yea if you have a handflamer on someone with infiltrate or overwatch then you can really use that for tactical advantage. Also if you are set a blaze then you take a S3 AP -1 hit each turn untill you get the flames out. That usually do alot in my experience

petrus1981 Yep, but Blaze is not automatic it only works 50% of the time. Scouring needs you to pass a Will check first then that 50/50 roll to get the blaze to work as you described. At Str 2 you have a 33% of wounding. Not great odds. I would rather just use a Flamer with better strength that goes off automatically with no willpower check needed. I covered weapons and traits in the second episode. I am a big fan of incendiary grenades and flamers. (Str 3) Check it out to see how I have used them before! 😃

I adore hand flamers for blaze. Sure they don't tend to kill, but they always hit and have a 50/50 chance of making anyone run around like a headless chicken regardless of how hard and well skilled that are.... which allows a humble ganger to possibly disable a leader and his minions with one shot.

Thank You for video. Please make some videos with tricks examples (overwatch, infiltrate, overseer and so on). 2 vs 2 ganger. Champ with juve vs 3 solid gangers. And how with minimum power deal with the ambot. Thank You!

"Str 2 weapons can't wound anything" Van Saar red cannons, guns, beamers, and grenades would all beg to differ. They aren't great early on but late campaign when 3+ and 2+ armor saves are getting depressingly common they're a decent workaround between the innate -2 AP and the rad trait. And the House book lets archeotechs (and theoretically others) skill-build into giving them Shock as a trait, which nearly doubles the odds of wounding against the T 4 targets that crop up as late-game tanks. Might still be doing things the hard way compared to just spamming combi-meltas, but they aren't entirely awful.

Of course. My main advice is always use what you like the look of/rules for/etc. I understand the fun in finding the “Most Optimal” build (I play a lot of MtG) but I also get a lot of joy out of painting up the minis with the weapons that look the coolest to me (autoguns) 😆

Hey, in this video you mentioned, that if enemy is bottled, you automatically win. What about missions where you have to fulfill some winning condition? I mean If I need to do X by round 5 and I don't do that, but I wipe enemy out by the end of round 4 - would you consider this as my win?

Good question! I would rule that causing the enemy to Bottle off the board completely would give you choice to determine who is attacker/defender in the next scenario as if you had won BUT you may not have met the scenario “Victory” or “Reward” requirement so you could end up receiving little or no benefits for your sound drubbing of the other gang. It is very scenario dependant though. For instance in a scenario that requires area control to score points I would rule that holding the entire board due your opponent leaving the board would cause you hold all points on the board for 1 turn minimum. (so as always it's going to require the campaign manager to make judgements on a case by case basis.)

Once things calm down at my work I am planning on posting the Genestealer Cult review that I have been working on for a few months. Then I hope to jump into the other gangs (especially the updated Escher, Goliath, and Orlock stuff!)

I find wyrd powers are prety underwelming for the most part, you just don't have the activations needed to make half of them usefull. Lets take Scouring for example, you need to use a activation to turn it on, then another to fire it... while a guy with a hand flamer can move and shoot, therefore getting a larger threat range and 100% odds of completing both actions.
