Excellent video. Helped me catch several of my own errors.

Heh! This topic reminds me of the demo game I got as my first experience of Necromunda... 😂 It happened at my local hobby store with the contents of starter set (except the gaming table was 3D, and some pieces from original Necromunda) where I played with Goliaths. On first turn my Goliath leader on a hight platform with two of his champions activated and were ”advancing” towards the enemy by dropping down from the platform they stood on instead of taking the stairs nearby... and they all failed their initiatives, and cannot remember if all got into serious wounds state... 🤣 Both me and the demonstrator laughed at the sight what made the Eshers on other side of table be like ”Did they got some bad batch of drugs or wot?” Priceless moments. 😂

Voting for Enforcers as an in depth review. Maybe including the following points: 1. Enforcer Shenanigans (as example Concussion Carbine + Photon Flash) 2. Template Weapons vs. Boltguns 3. Target Number of Units (Anything above 6/7 is difficult too achive) 4. Palanite Captain vs. Subjugator Captain 5. Some Take on their special Juve rule

Hetzerfeind also don’t forget the subjugator with vigilance shield shock stave and threat response. 2” attacks and the ability to keep the team out of combat!? Helpful for keeping those CGC & Goliaths at a distance!

At minute 6, in the example given for the enforcer climbing to the roof of the building, you measure 5 inches, costing one of the enforcer actions. But wouldn´t be needed an extra inch to move into the building for the wide of the base? In our gaming group we have discussed that and we allow that extra movement for setting up the base (some big bases are an isssue, like Goliath´s ones)and to foster verticallity in our games, but we didn´t find anything in the rules to support that.
@StaticElf4 жыл бұрын
AmaroK Wargames the 5” climb would take a move/move double action to climb. So they would have no actions left after the climb. I think I said that in the vid but I’’m sorry if it wasn’t clear. If you wanted to be really technical then yes you could argue that the Enforcer couldn’t make that climb but the rules are not that specific. We play it as you must be touching the wall edge at the bottom and the top during climb actions and I feel that is restrictive enough . Most wall climbs will take both actions 99% of the time.
@amarokwargames66204 жыл бұрын
@@StaticElf Sure, you are right on the double action move, my mistake. You are clear enough. I was thinking about our own house rules which we consider a ladder if you there is something which is not a flat wall. What I meant is that rule as written, you need the extra movement for the base width, but if you read what I wrote, we also decided that we allow that in our gaming group, as you do as well. I was pointing this issue because with Goliath gangs the problem happens quite often because of the 4 inches basic movement, combined with the 32mm base and the GW sector mechanicus catwalks and elevated terrain, making it almost impossible to go up sometimes even with ladders if you don´t allow flipping in the base "for free". It wasn´t my intention to critizise your video or explanation, which is perfectly accurate.

AmaroK Wargames no criticism taken! All of these things I talk about on here are very much up for debate. And I wanna talk it out on here so we all learn how other groups handle these issues. I would say as an arbiter I always will lean towards allowing something rather than not allowing it. (But you have to be consistent!) The main problem we consistently run into climbing is not being able to be 1” away from an enemy when you get up on that catwalk, watchtower, etc. Usually I ask the person who’s fighter is already up they are ok with it and we play on based on their answer. (My players are all about story not rules so they have always said “BRING IT! Next turn I’m gonna torch ya!”)

Hi great videos! I have 2 questions as a noob. 1. can you charge and instead of swing can you push opponent off a ledge? 2. Can you jump/fall purposely onto an enemy as a kamikaze move on a more dangerous fighter?
@StaticElf2 жыл бұрын
Off the top of my head (not being home to reference the book) -I believe there is a skill that helps you push enemies in melee but you can’t just choose to do so instead of doing a melee attack - With moderator approval (as always as you would be manipulating rules in ways they may not have been intended) I think you could purposefully fall onto enemies from higher up as part of a move action
@MickeyMulligan4 жыл бұрын
Just a heads up you are allowed to melee and charge into smoke it's in the FAQ or latest rulebook. With a short explanation of you can also fire templates and blasts into smoke as well. You can also charge things you dont have line of sight to.
@StaticElf4 жыл бұрын
Mickey Mulligan Gonna disagree on that one. “No attacks” in smoke is ruled “no attacks of any kind (melee or ballistic) can target a fighter in smoke” in my group. Exception is template stuff that doesn’t target the fighter. Best rule is “ask your arbiter” on stuff like this one. FAQ says you can use non-line of sight stuff that uses blast/flame templates and doesn’t directly target a fighter in smoke but that doesn’t allow everything else. Also you CAN charge into smoke because you don’t need line of sight to make a charge movement towards a fighter BUT the problem is that pesky “no attacks” part of the smoke rule means you can’t do anything when you get to your intended target even if you are base to base with them.

I've read the rule book like 10 times, and have learned more in these videos than from all that reading lol. Guess playing it is the best way to learn. vote for Helot/Chaos cult. particularly - they get to have a "familiar". what on earth would that be? (I'm making an Escher Slaanesh Cult, so could I use a daemonette or something?)
@StaticElf4 жыл бұрын
Al Iguana Glad you are getting value from the videos! I will def. do a gang review for all the gangs (even the heretical Chaos cultist. Ew.) 🤣 so stay tuned! For the Familiar I would definently envision like a tiny evil daemonette type being. I would take a look at the Malifaux Neverborn minis maybe?

What about the Orlock tactic of jumping off things and landing on someone. I can't find it kn the rules but I e seem people do it.

I haven’t seen that I’m guessing it’s in the “fall damage” area but I’m not sure how effective it would be? I will check it out! 😀

What? Your not allowed to attack in CC in smoke? I mean, no LOS is needed to charge, right. Agree. But no CC attacks? Not saying you're wrong just never played it that way. Taking the shortest route on a charge again going to have to have a read.
@StaticElf4 жыл бұрын
The CC in smoke is a debated topic but per my groups reading of the Smoke trait it says “No attacks” can be made into, out of, or through smoke. So to us no attacks means no attacks (CC or ballistic). The true answer is this probably needs GW clarification. In the 2019 FAQ they did clarify that you could throw a grenade, launch a grenade, or flamer into Smoke which would be a counter to my smoke screen tactic. And yes the charge shortest route detail is in the Movement section (pg.61 main rule book). Not sure why they didn’t have it in the Charge action section in Actions.
@johnkelly87204 жыл бұрын
Great video my only point of contention is the charge move ruling. The rules say a fighter must take the shortest route and by your own measurements the shortest route was to zigzag around the barricades by 2”. The rule does not say move in a straight line ignoring terrain. A more extreme example would be two fighters on opposite sides of a building thats say 5” wide. By the same logic a charge move would require a fighter to climb the 10” to the top of the building cross the 4” over the top and either drop or climb down the other side.
@StaticElf4 жыл бұрын
John Kelly totally see your point. And until I read up on movement last week I didn’t know that this was a thing. It needs clarification for sure! I think your example of the building between them shows how the rule set can suffer when you try to apply it to random terrain that is not Zone Mortalis.
@StaticElf4 жыл бұрын
John Kelly Also you can’t climb during a charge move as that is a different action in itself so the shortest viable route would be to run around the building in that instance unless stairs or ladders were present (as i said in the vid my group doesn’t allow charges up/down ladders because to us the act of using a ladder would steal any momentum from a charge and allow the charged opponent to prepare for the attack nullifying any benefits)
@amarokwargames66204 жыл бұрын
@@johnkelly8720 I do agree with your comment. As it is said in the rules in Dark Uprising RB p. 35. "movement need not to be in a straight line, a fighter can zigzag around terrain as appropiate, though note that a Charge (double) action should take the shortest route possible". The shortest route doesn´t means you have to do it in a straight line, but that your zigzags or movements should go on the shortest route. That brings us into another question: if the charging roll gives extra move to surround the target and get its back, should it be possible to do it? Because if we take the shortest route, as you are into base to base you shouldn´t be able to clip to look for side or rear arcs. We are planning to allow it in our games in order to foster close combat, but it´s not 100% clear in the RB.
