something about Trazyn ability is confusing me. how self targeting description works inheriting/ copying/ stealing abilities when they describe a specific card name... the Staff of Domination says - pay 1: Untap Staff of Domination therefore Trazin has the SAME ability - pay 1: Untap Staff of Domination its NOT the same as - pay 1: Untap Trazyn the Infinite. ??? or it is???

Initially, even seeing how it was an enabler for a lot of the deck, I was a bit down on the Silent King as face commander, but I think it has potential to essentially slip under the radar. How many commanders have combos and are powerful, yes, but the whole board recognizes the threat so quickly and unites against that one creature. I can’t see that happening here, so his less splashy power may be an advantage.

I was torn between Tyranids, Necrons, and Chaos, since those are my three armies on tabletop, but goddamn this deck is sexy. Hands down my favorite. Plus, artifacts in Black, really can't go wrong. Collectors Edition for this one.

It can go wrong unfortunatly....artifact and graveyard hate is SOOOO prevelant and easy in EDH. Plus, that's the first time black artifact theme is ever been done into a deck and it lacks the foundations, so upgrading this is not easy.

Phyrexian Devourer + Walking Ballista can also do it with Trazyn. Though you kinda have to be careful to note how much mana value is left in your deck. Also, no, you don't have to sacrifice it if it gets over 7 power(that's a separate trigger, according to gatherer).

I think Tomb Blade is actually a better “beater” than the 6/6 guy you talked about earlier. It’s always doing 5 damage when it connects, and from there they’re either losing more life (would be 6 or more if they have 1 creature) OR they’re losing a creature. And even if that’s just a token, sometimes that makes a difference 🤷‍♂️

There is a spell that isn’t talked about, Living Death When cast each player exiles their creatures in their graveyard then sacrifices battlefield creatures then takes all exiled creatures and puts them into the battlefield with the combination of out of the tombs you can easily wipe out your opponents depending on their decks

Yes but it's also clunky as hell because most often then not your opponents also have quite a lot of creatures in their graveyard and you end up reanimating all of them. It's a good card but in a very specific scenario, being dependant on either you being very behind in the game and somehow having a lot of good creatures in the graveyard and you opponts none or very few, or you making it into a combo piece, exiling enemy graveyards beforehand but tbh most often than not the graveyard getting exiled is yours. Also this deck dosn't seem to know what it wants...reanimating stuff should be capitalized by your commander, like The Stormlord, but if you use Living Death with it on the battlefield, it'll get destroyed before you reanimate anything. Also, if you play the deck as it should, you'll probably have LESS creatures in the graveyard than your opponents, because either you already reanimated some on to the battlefield, or you Unearth them and they got exiled.

just start playing magic because of this deck, so I'm not really familiar with the format, I thought you can only put one copy of each card in the deck, but it seems like the product contains 2 copies of the silent king with one being thicker than the other(which I assume is the one being the commander) so is it ok to have another copy of the silent king in the deck? or do I need to exchange one of it out for other card

Late response, but you can only have 1 of each(non-land) card in your deck. The alternate Silent King is there because it has a different foil and is thicker. You just use whichever one you prefer.

Can Trazyn actually use the Staff of Domination's 1 mana ability to untap? The ability says "Untap Staff of Domination" and Trazyn is only copying the ability, not the name. Or am I missing some basic MTG rule regarding situations such as these?

my understanding is the name is self referential, so it basically reads untap (this card) rather then the actual card name. I think it was clarified for me when it came to the Mutate Mechanic.

Is it me or the infinite combo Tomer is presenting for Thrazyn the infinite doesn't actually work? Because, you have to tap it in order to create mana, AND you have to tap it for staff of dominion...

I would like to disagree about the Tomb Blade. A 5/4 flyer for 6 is very "Black Demon" esque. It's on brand, and works well. It's ability to do extra damage or force a sac, is actually pretty good. I can see why people would be "meh" about... but just imagine this. What if it did EITHER one of those things. It would be an insta "yeah this is good" card. So it does the one that is the least unpleasant for the opponent it's still good. In any case, you are either getting rid of a creature for free, or edging in extra damage, for free, and it puts stress on your opponents to find a solution for flying, or kill it, or else it would possibly just keep melting their shit! I think Tomb Blade is excellent in EDH.

There is a ruling that makes it work. Look up necrotic ooze rulings because it's basically the same ability but for creatures. Basically any ability that refers to the original card name refers to the card that has gained the abilities instead

Sacrifice the traveller in response to his own trigger, and then bring him back with his own trigger so it never dies in combat and you get the sacrifice trigger, death trigger, and any enter triggers.

Because it's an example? I wanted to give a quick example of how the card can go infinite and move on. You can replace Lotus with a dozen other cards, and you have many other combo lines outside of Staff too.

This deck seems really good on the outside and it is pretty decent out of the box, especially inside of the bubble that are the other precons, but once you actually start comparing it to other EDH decks and start looking into upgrades, you VERY quickly realize how weak and limited it is. You lack a lot of reanimation effects, artifact and graveyard hate is REALLY common having quite common and cheap cards like Vandalblast and Rebuild being game ending for you not to mention effects that exile your graveyard. Combine that with a lot of underwhelming and overpriced cards in the deck and you got yourself a massive dissapointment. Unearth itself is not a really strong mechanic, and MTG made it even worst by forcing your card to be exiled at the end of the turn even if you sacrifice it early, plus half the creatures in the deck lack Unearth anyway...Cards like "Their Number is Legion" being X BBBB also makes it GROSSLY overpriced, making it so that if you pay 6 manas you only get a guraranteed 2 life and x2 2/2`s out of the deal being one of the worst cards I have ever seen. It's a shame too because a lot of the design choices here are great but the deck does not perform well in any scenario outside of the precon bubble.

Technomancer only reanimating 6 mana or less is a massive downside, not a lot of cards sums up to 6 in the deck and more often than not you'll be reanimating just one 5 mana creature or a lone 4 mana one. Also...5/1 stat line is atrocious and the dude is literally flying in the picture but no flying ability...why? Seems like another super expensive and underwhelming card to me. Plus, stop stating that this and that can be blinked...how in the world are you blinking in a mono black deck!?

@@luigiciotola91 they did a very bad job of representing Necrons from 40K to mtg. They used wrong art when paired up with flavour text on a few cards. wrong abilities or missing on many. Namely phaeron. Like the silent king he should have been the deceiver the card doesn’t match him at all. The ability of unearth is a shit way of showing the resilience and resurrection abilities of the Necrons. It’s not a one shot done ability. Skorpekh lord the necron “beat” stick in 40K is worse then the standard skorpekh. He’s not supposed to be a noble so he doesn’t have command protocols rule. Triarch praetorians don’t have dynastic codes because they are agents. Trazyn the infinite isn’t infinite because of his artefact collection (the one he doesn’t like to be messed with only looked at) but because he keeps coming back by replacing another necron. He’s also more powerful objectively in mtg then 40K. He’s a minor player in 40K especially compared to the silent king and the storm lord. They touted this as been vehicle heavy and it’s got three. I could keep going with these inconsistencies. This had potential of been fantastic, like with how they did the nightbringer and death marks, super fluffy and great work with them.

@@emansfield2017 I’m guessing they avoided Orks as they already have a ton of ork/goblin etc cards in mtg. Could be fun to make a lore friendly ork commander deck from existing cards thou. A secret lair for Orks is supposedly coming but not sure about that. A full eldar deck could have been interesting doing all the dif variants (craft world, dark, troupe, pirates, exodites, avaines)

I didn't see it at first either but I think this is a different playstyle for artifacts and monoblack decks in general that I know im not used to.
