The game starts with you fighting a gruesome trench war, and two levels later has you driving a dieselpunk mech suit into French Stonehenge against a gigantic scorpion robot piloted by a necromancer wielding a magic gauntlet created by vampires to fight demons. Just *describing* this game is a fever dream, let alone playing it. EDIT: Also worth noting is that the machine gun is the Maxim MG 08/15, a water-cooled weapon which weighs over 45 pounds fully loaded, and he's *dual wielding them*.

I feel like both halves of NecroVision - gritty WW1 shooter, and demon-slaying Painkiller clone - were each originally planned to be the full game at one point. Then something happened during development and the two were stitched together with an insane plot. I actually like this game a lot; and Lost Company was even better. It had it's issues, but there's such a shortage of WWI games; let alone the _WWI horror_ subgenre, that I can forgive a lot. It also manages to be eerie and atmospheric in many areas, and they really did a good job in portraying the grimy chaos of trenches; with realistic weapon models and some honestly good map design. It's too bad the last third or so went off the rails, ditched all that, and turned into a generic sci-fi shooter out of nowhere. The total shift in setting, tone, enemies and weapons felt like I was playing two completely different games mashed together. Not good. Lost Company didn't make that mistake at least.

I would love to see you cover Painkiller. It is a simple game mechanically speaking, but it's also so much more fun than Necrovision. Its alternate fire methods are useful and its unlocking system is more engaging as every level has its own unlock objective. Some really require you to explore and some of its secrets are pretty well hidden. You can also get pretty clever with how you progress through the game by taking on certain challenges in an underpowered state (like trying to beat the first boss under a certain time limit on your first go, meaning you'll be doing it with minimal resources versus coming back and doing the challenge later). This can net you valuable cards earlier than intended. The game has a ton of replay value because of that.
