5:58 as a kid I was never able to figure out how to make doors that would swing open. I'd read the documentation but there was something I was doing wrong. So thats why all the maps I made back then had those doors that would go up and down which were very easy make.

Playing usermade maps back then was like a fever dream, you never knew if what you were going to play was pure trash, or a masterpiece. I used to play a lot of different Hexen maps and there were some real gems in there, but OH SO MANY maps that were just copied from Doom or again, someone's house...
