Glad you enjoyed it. It has always been an interesting story which sometimes arises conflict. But the story adds to our history. Some people say he was a hero and others a Villian. There is no doubt about the fact that three Police Men were shot by the Kelly Gang at Stringybark Creek. One of the best reads is "Ned Jelly ( A Short Life) by Ian Jones. Thanks for watching.

Hi Jim, glad you enjoyed the video. According to the Book "Ned Kelly , (a short life) by Ian Jones Page 396 and Quote "As he stepped onto the drop, Ned said something. To the 'Herald' man, it was "Such is Life', the words Beechworth's 'Advertiser' attributed to him when he told 'the hour of his death'. The 'Argus' would claim that he said moment later, 'Ah well, I suppose it has come to this'. Suprisingly, the hostile Telegraph might have come closer to the truth: On leaving the cell, and before stepping upon the drop, an expression with a sign, escaped Kelly's lips, which the Warders and the Governor interpreted to this effect - 'Ah well, I suppose' - probably meaning to say he supposed that this was the last of it, or this is what had to come to, but the expression was never concluded.

Burning Sands Exploration. The officers were well respected. Sgt Kennedy had 5 young children and his wife was pregnant. He pleaded with Kelly to leave him alone, so he could see his wife and children again. Kelly claimed Kennedy was seriously wounded, but the doctor who examined his body said the shotgun blast Kelly delivered to him at point-blank range was received while he was standing up, so he was not seriously wounded as Kelly claimed. Constable Lonigan was married with four children, and his wife was also pregnant. Kelly claimed that Scanlan fired two shots at him with the Spencer rifle. Constable McIntyre who witnessed the murder, said that Scanlan's horse spooked and reared and Scanlan fell off, and while on all fours on the ground, as he started to rise Ned Kelly shot him in the chest killing him instantly. Scanlan did not fire a shot at Ned Kelly. The memorial in the centre of Mansfield is still there, to remind us all, of the sacrifice those good men made for their community.

Yes John, it was sad to see Wally murdered, perhaps a Hit or Run is probably what happened. It is sad to see so much road kill on our roads. Ned Kelly is one of our Notorious Bush Rangers, but was not our worst. I suppose the story of Ned Kelly has been the most interesting, given the times, we had the Eureka Rebellion the year he was born (December 1854) and also it was a time of the injustices that was being done to the Irish under the tyranny of British Rule. Glad you enjoyed the video, thank you for watching.

Totally faked us out at the beginning, we thought this was for Wally Wombat's death, but there didn't seem to be anything sufficiently mysterious about those circumstances. Love a good historic tour, and murders can be quite interesting as long as one isn't personally involved. I think we're going to have to look this one up and get the whole story now, or is this going to be part of a series? You seemed to hint at the end that there was more to come. I don't want to spoil it, so I'll hold off on the wikipedia search until I know for sure.

Poor old wally was the Victim of road kill. Ned kelly has a fascinating history, which I will never be able to cover everything. @@CowboyJojosAdventures Ian Jones book Ned Kelly, A Short Life is full of fictitious nonsense. On every page, Jones makes false comments. Good effort, but there are a few corrections to what you said. Constable Fitzpatrick did not make any improper approach to Kate Kelly at all. She actually made up that nonsense some 10 months after the event to discredit the officer. There are three sources that confirm what I have said. Firstly, Constable Fitzpatrick said that it did not occur and gave evidence on oath in regard to that. William Williamson, who was present at the home and holding a revolver on the officer, when interviewed by the Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police while he was in gaol, confirmed that what Fitzpatrick said was in every sense the true version. Here is the evidence. Q3 nedkelly.info/Royal-Commission.pdf Even Ned Kelly himself admitted it did not happen. After he was captured at Glenrowan journalist asked him if it was true. "Now Kelly, what is the real history of the Fitzpatrick business? Did he ever try to take liberties with your sister, Kate?" Kelly: "No that is a foolish story. If he or any other policeman tried to take liberties with my sister, Victoria would not hold him." (The Age August 9th 1880) Further research can be seen here. nedkelly.info/fitzpatrick.pdf (Researched by a professional historian) We do not know exactly where Constable Lonigan and Scanlan were murdered by Ned Kelly, nor do we know where Sgt. Kennedy was murdered, again by Ned Kelly. The search party indicated that it was some 800 metres from the camp site. None of the actual sites of the murders have been confirmed. I point out that the pamphlet you have, that relates to the Kelly Touring Route, is full of fictitious nonsense. About 85% of the document is mythological rubbish and lauds a very serious criminal. Thank you again for your respect for the murdered officers. It is pleasing to see, for a change, rather than the sanctimonious myths, lies and fiction that proliferates across social media sites regarding this serious murderous criminal.
