I struggled with his shtick too. My ex husband was "the wife guy" amongst his coworkers and social circle...he used to post all over social media this idyllic life we had. Behind closed doors he was abusive...he abused me in every way a person can be abused. He also cheated on me...CONSTANTLY!!! I am NOT saying Ned abused his wife, but when you spend so much time making this "one thing" the only thing in your public life it feels icky. Especially to people who have seen the ugly side of that behavior. 🤷♀️

Though Eugene acts tough and can come off brisk, I think he is the biggest empath out of the Try Guys. He's watched and experienced big betrayal in committed relationships and I FEEL for how much of an impact this is going to have on him, on all of them. Think about Becky and Maggie, they probably have so many questions about if any of them knew or even suspected. I hope they all are getting help (this goes for all other employees as well) and are able to be open and transparent to each other about a really tough situation. Otherwise for some it will just fester and cause so much distrust and issues continuing forward. I've been around a few very similar situations and it just compounds the issues when having to pick up the pieces after an office relationship or affair. Their situation is even more "sticky" since the spouse has ties to the company and a frequent presence in their content or side projects.

Maybe that was the extent they were aware of (the whole "idk what to do with my hands" is a fluke then) but clearly they knew about this earlier. IMO they were hoping to solve it internally/for it not to leak so they wouldn't have to completely rebrand themselves and lose a founding member. I'm hoping that Ariel gets out of her marriage with Ned, when this all happened and I first saw some old clips I was praying that Ariel and Ned don't just "talk" it out and stay together. They have two little kids to look after and Ned went and broke Ariels trust for how long? like since last year? I really don't want to hear that they stayed together for the kids or something, as a kid in that situation, it was terrible. The house's energy was always wierd, my parents werent ever really like normal parents to each other and they were living together because of my and my sibling. It's just something thats shit that has been happing for years now, if you ever need to think about divorcing your spouse and think "well it'll be better for the kids if I stay" DO NOT STAY!!! If your thinking about divorcing then do it! Don't put yourself in that situation to be in a shit marriage and dont put your kids in a house like that!! Ariel and the kids deserve so much more!! Also since this all started something feels off and fishy to me, like theres WAYYY more to the story especially with Alex

@plutototoh2 жыл бұрын
Ned always did feel like an outsider in their group. They worked hard to keep him a cohesive part. This makes sense considering he was in a very high position and things surrounding that are sticky, but ever since the first video I watched back when they were IN Buzzfeed Ned has always felt like the outlier and that they didn’t hate him but they were closer with each other than him. He’s never quite fit and had to lean hard into a persona to make it fit, where the others don’t need to try so hard because those 3 just click. He never really felt like a friend like Zach Keith and Eugene do. I guess this was just inevitable.

I’m pretty sure there was a study done on social media and relationship correlation. The study had said that the more someone posts about, show, or talks about their significant other, the more likely it is for the relationship to fall apart. Has something to do with the fact that the people who end up ruining the relationship try so hard to show everyone on social media “see this is perfect for me, everyone should be jealous of what I have,” when in reality they are trying to convince themselves of the same thing by posting ab them nonstop. Really interesting stuff to watch it happen real time with Ned.

I thought Ned's Wife Guy bit was overplayed, but at the same time, Eugene never stops talking about being sad and gay, and I don't doubt he is those things. Still, let this be a lesson not to define your entire public persona on your relationship to another person. One way or another, it's just too statistically likely for that to go very wrong at some point. And then, not only is your relationship over, but your friendships, brand, income, and public perception are all destabilized at the same time. I actually think this might be one of the only true "cancellations" to ever succeed. My guess is Ned's entire career as a public figure / outward-facing content creator is over, with no chance of recovery.

@@safeeyab6291 Being a good husband is a great personality trait, if he was one. But he wasn't, instead of just saying he was a wife guy he should have given stories or showed how good of a husband he was. Keith always has a story about the things he and becky have done. Being a wife guy is just as much as a spot light/attention grabber as saying your gay. That's the whole point. Keith loves food, what is that? that's not a personality trait, but they created almost a brand out of it. People find something interesting about themselves and turn it up 100 notches for the internet. They had to think about their target audience. I don't think Ned's general interests or personality would have been enough to keep him interesting, but guess what people love shipping and love internet couples so why not use it to their advantage. There would have been nothing wrong with that, some people even ate it up like pizza.
@ghostyboy61812 жыл бұрын
also I think Eugene speaking abt being sad and gay is different than Ned's wife guy bit. Eugene grew up being unable to express himself, especially his sexuality, so him being able to talk and joke abt it now is probably v liberating for him. he's also notoriously closed off, so him talking abt emotions and stuff is good! he's getting more comfortable expressing himself without fear of repercussions. it also indicates him becoming more comfortable not just with the audience, but his fellow try guys as well. meanwhile ned was constantly mentioning his wife, but was v one dimensional abt the whole thing. he always gave v general/vague compliments to her when he referenced her, and never had anything particularly significant to say abt her. sure the other try guys play up certain interests and character traits for the bit; that's just how being an internet personality is. but you could always tell there was nuance behind it, and they weren't afraid to be candid abt their true feelings on the situation. meanwhile ned was one dimensional, always trying to be the perfect wife guy but barely anything else. oh also his other personality trait is "I graduated from Yale" lmao
