that style of future bass is jazz inspired so you were doing a 2-5-1 where the 5 is usually a dom7 chord which is why the first chord kept feeling like the root. doing 5-1 for the chord you actually wanted as the root might have helped

@jonah1077 Жыл бұрын
I've done the exact same thing with a IVmaj7-V-i-VII-III making it sound like the major 4 is the root, but what I usually do to completely eliminate the resolution without giving up tension is to turn to the IV into a II diminished, or even just a II minor 9, def try it out

fyi the original 5 chord was still "right," dominant 5 chord is pretty common in that chord progression and is a nice turnaround

ahh weird, it just sounded kinda strange while I was recording hahaha. I'll compare it to some other tracks and see what happened
@disuko Жыл бұрын
@@NeddieOfficial the “kawaii chord progression” is so weird, i’ve made so many tracks that use a major pentatonic scale so it’s cute and happy but the chords are technically in minor??? relative scale degrees and whatnot

hey what do you think about making a video about finding signature sounds / techniques? do you have anything that you personally use for that like the wanda loop or are you more just going with the flow?
@NeddieOfficial Жыл бұрын
signature sound imo either comes from finding a unique gimmick to do over and over that other people aren't doing (I do not recommend) or by just making a lot of music to where you eventually find tiny little production techniques or sounds that you just reuse all the time naturally because you like the sounds they make, eventually forming a sound that is uniquely yours because you're the only one with your exact brain chemistry and you're the only one that can store all that information to form what is your signature sound

the one thing that gets me about abletons wavetable is not being able to adjust the phase of the oscilators.. if it could do that id be using it all the time.. seems like a pretty simple feature, espcially considering operator has always been able to do that
@NeddieOfficial Жыл бұрын
yeahhh this is the only kind-of drawback I've really noticed, although some of the unison modes make it not sound as robotic. Sometimes it's a cool effect to have every chord sound the exact same but if I'm layering a lot of stuff then it definitely gets a bit too noticeable sometimes
@hatsaok8153 Жыл бұрын
@@NeddieOfficial not so much for phase randomness but more for just adjusting the start point of sounds and phase aligning with other sounds, I've an unhealthy amount of OCD with that shi haha. Also, I admire your skill of quickly moving on from sounds and just getting on with the musical idea, just thought I'd mention that! You are quick asf
