Thanks so much. An excellent job. I have a Mares Vector Chrome BC that is 19 years old and still going strong and looking beautiful after 275 dives. All the valves are just like on yours. The only difference is that my inflator valve has both fill and empty buttons are grey instead of one being gray and one red. Again, so very helpful. Cheers

Glad it helped. Mares make a great BCD. The valves work well and are easily maintained. The mistake is when people don’t clean them up. Thanks for watching.

@@NigelEaland I FINALLY used the video to clean the valve today. I bought a new one but still tried cleaning it and now, after 341 dives, it is back to working right. I was just going to put on the new one but tried to clean the original one. At one point, some piece fell out and I didn't know where it came from. I went back to your video and found where it goes. I had one dive buddy who was pissing me off because he kept saying I needed a new BC and basically he had no sensical reason and very little dive experience. After all those dives and all those years and it still looks and works wonderfully. I've only replaced the tank strap because the velcro was getting a little worn out. Thanks again!

Simply Awesome!!!! I found a very small rock in my power inflator dump valve that was limiting the air I could get in trying to orally inflate! My instructor was yelling “Push the button all the way “...... I yelled beck “l AM”!! Thank You Very Much

Glad it helped. I do this service every year before the season starts. Even if a fault occurs the valves are so easy to take apart to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the video very informative, I stripped my Mares Frontier BCD inflator and there was no ball bearing do Mares do 2 different types of inflator for these jackets? Thanks

Yes they have an older version which has a Schrader valve the type cycle inner tubes use.

Thanks for the video. my wife BCD is also a Mares with similar inflator set. However, the different is the inflate button on ours were gray, not red. and when I'd follow your video, there was not white plastic piece at the bottom of the inflator body (09:55 in your video). It seems like the little valve piece under the inflate button was stuck. Any advice on getting that part out?

Older versions of the valve have a schrader valve, the type you put into bicycle inner tubes. Is that what you have? They are easily unscrewed and replaced. I found these drawings in a forum. scubaboard.com/community/threads/mares-bcd-inflators.618836/

@@NigelEaland Thanks. I guess mine must be the shredder valve type. AndnI think it kinda stuck.. do you think soaking it in vinegared-water would help loosen it out?

@@Wobbegong_th best to buy the extractor tool for the valve. I’m pretty sure that I had issue with my old BC and getting that valve out and I seem to remember I bought a new inner cartridge which came with a ball bearing type valve. Speak to a dive shop and see if you can get the part. It’s probably best just to replace the whole inner bit.
