And that is thanks to Black Box studios, since they "only" continued with the franchise since NFS Hot pursuit 2 (2002), it was thanks to them that NFS happened to be something Fast and Furious (NFS Underground) and then something to Forza Horizon style (NFS Pro Street) and then some GTA style (NFS The Run); and then the other developers that followed (Slight Mad Studios with NFS Shift; Criterion games with NFS HP 2010 and well, a long etc.), NFS no longer maintained its own style or kept its original from the 1994-2002 era.

I have very, very fond memories of blur, and still have it installed! The only things I didn't like were lack of cloud saving (so if you don't search out your single-player save before a format, you lose it - but the multiplayer progress is saved....), and the lack of rebindable controls - just two options is all you get. Oh, and Activision for killing the successor off - I was so excited about it. And then they took down the website, so people (like one friend of mine) that bought the physical copy of the pc version can not play with me, as I (on steam) am on a newer version, and the update is nowhere to be found. Really, fuck Activision. Blur is the shit.

@@HonduranMegatron Yeah. Activision doesn't see it as a money maker, so they just ignore it. It would've been nice to at least see a PC re-refease or backwards compatibility with the 360 version! I have the PC version, which still runs well on my modern Windows 10 laptop, but I have to use a NoCD crack just to bypass the game's copy protection and not have to put in the disc just to play it.

Here's a crazy idea: Instead of this, they should have made the Wii version a remaster of the original Hot Pursuit. If they're already reusing the title, why not go all the way with it? Just improve the graphics, add modern cars, maybe some extra content, and done. The Wii's technical limitations wouldn't have been an issue because that game ran ot the damn PS1, and it would have been a much better game than this garbage.

The PS2 isn't _that_ much less powerful than the Wii. It is weaker (consider release dates) but it's not too extreme. Just a medium-sized margin, I'd say.

Wii: 729Mhz PowerPC CPU, 249Mhz GPU 88MB of RAM PS2: 300Mhz RISC CPU, 150Mhz GPU, 8MB of RAM I think the Wii is waaay more powerful than the PS2, and was capable of way more things. Some later games prove it. If the PS2 could do it, the Wii should be able to do it better.

It's definitely not the hardware's fault that it looks and plays bad. My point about the hardware being weak is that you couldn't just throw fidelity at it the way you could with the 360/PS3- it couldn't deliver. Games could still look great but they had to be stylized, and that's why so many games of this era took that approach. Nitro did it right, even if I don't like the style, and Hot Pursuit was a decided step backwards in visuals.

@@runningat50hz don't forget that what was called "memory" in the PS2 was actually storage space, it was not all all like the RAM in PCs. The "memory" in the PS2 is more compared to a hard drive of a PC, because they both store information. RAM and storage space serve 2 totally different purposes. I'm just not sure what you meant by that but I am assuming by RAM you meant storage space of both consoles. And I actually researched it and ps2 memory cards can have 128MB max, so it's not limited to 8MB of storage.

Currently playing the Wii port of Carbon. I actually like the motion controls. With the nunchuck at least. It does have a bit of a learning curve to adjust to. But pretty quickly i was able to drift around the open city in free roam and have fun with racing.

EA should have a Need for Speed game release on the Switch. The Switch is just as powerful as the 7th gen consoles and they just need a porting team to work on the inferior port. I mean look at DOOM, Wolfenstein, The Witcher 3. Need I explain more? If those consoles can run on the Switch, I believe a Frostbite game can run. With a talented porting studio, it can be done.

To think that Mario Kart not only plays better but actually looks better and was released at an earlier date on the same console. I've played early (Pre-2003) PS2 games that are MUCH better.

I don't give a fuck what anyone says, Hot Pursuit Wii was the first NFS game I ever played (I was 10), was the first game to properly get me into cars and the second game to get me into racing, so it's gonna forever have a special place in my heart. I played the shit out of this thing when it came out 10 years ago, and the split screen multiplayer was probably the best part. Made for some of the best times of my childhood, playing this with my younger brothers.

NFS Hot Pursuit 2010 is one of the best modern NFS games from the past 10 years. I remember playing it on the PS3 back in the day and it was a blast to play. I wish that just remastered it instead of giving us NFS Payback.

when i was a kid the only thing i had in my home was a wii and a crap pc that could only run most wanted at best. i still remember playing mariokart with that awful steering wheel plastic attachment thing but the games i loved the most on that console were nfs titles. pro street was amazing on the wii, while also feeling pretty much identical to the full release, because it just was the full game. nitro in the meantime was fun, but only the first time around. each car had classes and their performance couldnt be upgraded, so per class there was a best car in each and variety wasnt a thing. the drift mechanic was fun to learn but after i realised i dont need to steer anymore to get through a corner the game became boring and almost not fun. visual upgrades were really cool and the livery editor worked amazingly well with the wiimote. would love to see a review of it, its by far the weirdest nfs game ive played

I have a good story about this game. I had the launch ps3 from 2006 and I always had a good time with it. Anyways 2010 came along and I begged my parents to get me NFS Hot Pursuit; I did end up getting the game for ps3 so everything worked out right? Nope. About a week after getting the game my ps3 decided its time to die and literally freezes in the middle of me playing the game. A month passes and well the ps3 is diagnosed with perma death. Now that I think about it, the person that my mom hired to fix the ps3 probably kept it and said it wasn’t fixable. So the news is that I’m not getting another ps3 but surprise! I still have a wii and guess what also came out on it? NFS Hot Pursuit for Wii. I was so defeated and sad when I popped the disc and realized this was not the same game at all. I still kept it but hardly remember anything at all. Anyways this video reminded me of that whole fiasco

Wow the items in Blur greatly remind me of those in Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed, the shock is basically the bees. Although interestingly, it predates ASRT by 2 years. I wonder if it was a source of inspiration, since the items in the first Sumo Digital Sonic racer were different, but Team Sonic Racing still has the shock/bees item.
