And kinda wished that EA had kept the point to point courses like in the original version but twice to 3 times as long. But this was still a fun version of the game franchise anyhow.

No not really, the graffic has been updated a lot since it was launched in 1998. So compared too the new ones no, but yes the old games had a hell lot better gameplay both for singleplayer and multiplayer. That is what i dont like with todays Nfs games.

In Need for Speed 3 you had to brake more in some corner, you had to think to drive left or right when you found a police, and you had to pay attention to cops conversations to know where the nail bands where located. Hitting something would cost you several positions in race. It is a pity that nowadays Need for Speed has lost any bit of that realism. In NFS Heat you can even break trees and other things that in previous games would block you and harm your racing progress. It is literally "press W and forget".

This was the first Need For Speed game I ever played. Loved it! Still have my saved games from it on CD somewhere. I ran it backwards one day and jumped the 2nd covered bridge (was actually the first one if ran the correct direction). Classic game. This is what got me started liking the Need For Speed series.

They arennt more agressive if you compare them too MW2012 cops or the cops in Rivals. But if you mean that they behave more realistic then i am agree with you. I like that they blocking you instead of wrecking you like in the modern nfs games, and if you goo in a spike you are caught. Plus you also get more chances with etc 8 tickets before you are busted. In todays nfs its game over if the cops get you one single time, i dont like that.

Nah. Cops in newer games are more annoying. Absolute dipshit behavior, too many glitches and they become aggressive out of nowhere. In Most Wanted 2005 especially, they are like Caterhams at the start and with heat 3 they suddenly become heavier than tanks. Its very annoying and frustrating.

It's more fun using the Jaguar XK8 (slowest car in the game), because the cops would be faster than you and you'd get to do battles with them. Trust me, 8 laps, agressive difficulty, with night time and rain turned on, headphone at full volume.. It was as immersive as it got back in the days

Next year they should totally release a 20th Anniversary remake of this game, and would have a classic mode that would be the original game, just with better graphics. Either that or they should release another Hot Pursuit installment and there would be a playable intro or a prologue that's set during events of the original Hot Pursuit and features this track (since it was really the main track for Pursuit mode, for me it was), and you're driving a Lamborghini Diablo SV (which was pretty much the premiere car of this game) and you're in an intense race against another car with cops right on your ass, including the C5 Corvette police car, since that was the main police car of the game, though there was also a Diablo and an El Nino version. I think it would be awesome if EA could pay tribute to this awesome game we all knew and loved from our childhoods on its 20th Anniversary, or at the very least pay faithful homage to it.

Mods made this game wonderfully absurd back in the day, I remember me and my bro laughing our asses off replaying the flight of one of the cruisers over the bridges when he slammed into them with the Old Train, that thing had more horsepower than the Bismarck and weighed a very modest 90 tons or so. Spike strips did nothing to it, roadblocks were disregarded as easily as grass and braking during turns made it act like it was on rails XD

I have played this game today, after 7 years of more after the last attempt (this time on a win7 PC) (last time I was unable to play well) But today I played like an expert, somehow the tracks got refreshed in my mind and I played the knowkout competition like a pro and won it with ease :) This game is better than some newer versions, such as Most Wanted, which is too easy to play. (And I play at max settings - expert and class A opponents, agresive). I wish I could play it with someone else over the internet.

If they made a remake or remaster, they should make the physics on gran turismo level, with wheel support, cockpit view, online mode, make the graphics 4k 60 and ability to choose 4k 120, maybe add some ray tracing, and remake the original tracks in 4k high quality textures. Also include the original soundtrack and include some new songs.
