Cross is trying to say it has race gauges, a short shifter, and a quick release wheel, all of which are used in race cars. The race gauges tell you your fluid pressure levels for your fuel, your oil, and your coolant. Granted, modern car infotainment systems can generally do all that nowadays but back then you had to install that stuff aftermarket. The short shifter for manual cars (which are generally considered better overall because they have better transmission lifetimes and allow you to control better how much power and torque is going to the wheels at any given time, making it better for racing) so you don’t have to do the weird movements to go from gear to gear, like you’re shifting through a maze, you can just shift straight from 2 to 3rd for example instead of having to go into neutral first (neutral on manuals is just that extra space between gears). The quick release wheel is a type of steering wheel that can be physically removed from the steering column with the press of a button. This is so that, if you crash and need to get out of the car quickly because it’s caught fire or something, the steering wheel would be your main obstruction from getting out quickly (most race cars are designed to not have doors, so the window is the escape they’re designing for), so you just pop it off, chuck it off to the side and get the hell out before you burn to death. All three of those things installed in someone’s car is a telltale sign that that person is, at the very least, a wannabe racer.

This brings back nostalgia. I love this game so much, played it so much. Completed it with 100% progress 3 times and just the story a few more times. And that slowing down time thing, i didn't know until a couple years ago, so when i played the game I'd just have to figure out where the spikes are and dodge them at that speed. I feel there is an order to the pinkslips. If one appears at the 1st marker, the next few will be at the same spot and then move on to the 2nd spot, you'd just have to figure out the starting spot every few times.

It is a pretty great NFS but it has numerous issues, from asinine rubberbanding through tedium (I tend to check out around blacklist 6, because it gets so repetitive and at that point you already have most cars/upgrades you were aiming for anyway) to game engine issues (might be matter of platform, I played on PS2 and can't count the number of times I almost threw the console out the window because I'd be speeding through corners and my car suddenly flips because it got caught on some invisible edge of a building extending way further than it should). Still, the adrenaline during long heat 5 chases is out of this world.

Coming from someone who knows speedrunnning strategies: Get an Underground 2 save file, that will give you extra cash to buy Golf in the beginning. This car, fully upgraded, gets only beaten by Carrera GT - unlocked at the end of the game Lotus Elise - much harder to do cop chases with, but very fast in races Punto - is actually slower in early game and worse for cop chases Use speedbreaker when hitting things - it also increases your mass, so you loose less velocity. (applies to both traffic and police) For cop chases, the beginning area near your first hideout is the best, because it has few cool cooldown spots and is dense with roads, so more chance of getting a roadblock. Heat level is your friend - you can do all the necessary milestones for every blacklist member in under 7 minutes. In speedruns Razor part takes under 2 minutes! Always tune your aero +5. It is a good advice to always get one junkman performance part when you choose 2 cards after beating BL member. Gearbox upgrade doesn't make you accelerate faster, it changes the gear ratio making you actually accelerate slower, while having higher top speed. Fun fact: you can modify your savefile to use traffic cars in career, like the pizza or garbage truck. And I think it was possible to finish the game just in the first one. Fun fact 2: it is possible to finish the game in stock starter car.

I liked it because your initial safehouse is in the smaller town section with the donut shops and the baseball field, but eventually, your safehouse is in Downtown Rockport and all your racing is taking place around there. You'll eventually be on freerome and will find yourself back in the original town you started off in, and you'll just be like "I remember this place". To say that Carbon is a better game than MW 2005 is a big reach. It had the up in some details like customization, and perhaps texture (although that's debatable), but almost everything else is in MW's favor. The map, the choice of cars (since Carbon has a limited number of cars you can really use in end game, in MW you can essentially win the game with any car tuned to the max), the soundtrack, the progression (which is tied to the cars) and the economy (for it being a short game, it had few events and I always needed to grind already played races to buy have a few more choices in cars). You can say "but Carbon had canyon races and drift instead of drag". First off, why not do an Undergrund and have both, and second of all, the canyon races are broken in that the only sensible choice you make is tuner cars. So you have to limit yourself even more in terms of car choices.

But for me, the MW map is better simply in the terrain variety, in the size (size means a bigger number of races can be made) and the roads were WAY more intertwined than anywhere else, except UG2 perhaps. But both were made well for the "physics" of the cars sooo, above that the map is a choice of preference I think. But I don't hate your opinion, cuz it IS fun.

Honestly the thing that makes this game magical and nostalgic is basically everything in this game. From the cringe dialogue to the arcade-y handling. Put to top the cliche story progression in which puts you from rags to riches and each Blacklist driver being a boss battle. Most Wanted 2005 alongside Heat are my top Need For Speed games.

It's still great considering its this old, and has mods. 👍 Oh, and the graphics probably looked bad because you didn't even look into the settings, the default graphics are weak.

If I recall correctly, the pink slip markers are always in the same location. So instead of resetting the game and guessing again, simply look up the location of where each pink slip marker is located.

Unlike you said at the end of the video, I didn't have this on background to listen, but watch it actively & God! I loved it. You had me in peals of laughter right from start to finish. Glad to have found you. As for your advice on save scum tactics, you might as well have used Extra Options from the mod community. I ran into it because I wanted subtitles, but that mod has extras like crazy. Auto driving, Carbon like behaviour on tire-popping, replay Blacklist races & much more. There was one option which you could have exercised, & that is, if you want all pink slips, just edit the file on having default markers from 2 to 6! Boom! I was experimenting & it was great fun. There are some similar thoughts we share. Cobalt SS, Lamborghini Gallardo, Tollbooths being favourite ... okay. And what you said at the end of the video of this game having tedium, I wholeheartedly agree, except that I call it grind. Someone on his retrospective commented about how this game has circuit races of 4 laps! Seriously, on my recent playthrough, I avoided them like a plague. This is my second favourite Need For Speed after The Run. And I would like to hear your thoughts on why you find other Need For Speeds like Pro Street & others you mentioned better than this game. Keep up the good work, & I'll look forward to more videos from you in the future ...

The fact that EA is not remastering this game, or even bothering to listen to the fans is a shame itself. So much potential, it will resurrect the NFS community, but of course EA is always profits over quality sadly.
@997tt7 Жыл бұрын
A remaster of any of these games would be a sales flop. This game has aged (quite badly I might add), and It couldn't be released today without huge compromises and prob pissing off the fanboys cuz it wouldn't be the same Game. If you want a remaster, just mod It. There's pmuch unlimited modding support for these games.
@ElementalWarrior1999 Жыл бұрын
@@997tt7 I agree, but if they just listen to the fans for atleast once, it will definitely work, they should just renew the graphics and keep everything the same, add a brand new graphics engine that’s all everyone’s asking for, not just for this but for underground series as well, they should make underground 3 while they are at it, most of nfs community has been asking ea to make another underground
@997tt7 Жыл бұрын
@@ElementalWarrior1999 that as I said wouldn't work and they wouldn't do it (look at hpr). Also, not even the fans know what they want. They can't listen to the fans because nfs is such an inconsistent saga that there are a lot of different opinions on what a nfs is. Understand that graphics isn't the only thing that has aged in these games. World design, gameplay, car roster and customization are all things that should be updated. Then again, It wouldn't be the same game, and people wouldn't like It either. A remaster/remake of these games is a stupid idea and I'm glad It wont ever happen. Nfs fans don't want a mw remaster, or next ug game. They want something good and memorable, like what these 2000's games were when they released.

This game is just silly, stupid fun and it knows it. It delivered the most absurd, over-the-top, ridiculous presentation that, in a weird way, doesn't age because it's so earnest about it. If anything, there were memes about "FIVE GRAAAND" and "EVERYONE!!!" before memes were a thing. When you look at the landscape of racing games today, there's nothing else like it and it's only made it more popular. It's not trying to be a boring racing simulator. It instead wrecking balls your screen with cringey dialogue, hilarious characters and over-acting that -- yeah they're stupid -- but they stick with you because they weren't fake about it.

You can tell because he'll be on the radio-chatter. If you manage to wreck his corvette there it has a MASSIVE bounty-premium. -The tedious-ness can be combated by doing ALL milestones for the first ~10 blacklist enemies, it'll leave you with enough bounty to be able to do bare-minimum runs later.
