I feel it’s worth saying that Lostprophets as a whole shouldn’t be drug through the mud because of the actions of Ian Watkins. While he may be a despicable individual, Lostprophets as a brand, and its accompanying members were not involved with Ian in any allegations or charges. It’s unfair to be guilty by association.
@MatthysFAIL5 күн бұрын
Yeah I think you're right about that. The reason I said it like that in the video is not because I think the entire band is to blame for what the singer did, but more that I don't want people to look up things about what he did because of this video. Former lostprophets members have obviously parted ways with him and want to be known for the projects they have now, instead of their former band. I pinned your comment because I think it serves as some important information that people shouldn't blame the entire band, if that's okay with you :)

What I really like in UG1 is the city really. I feel like no other nfs had encapsulated this late 90's/early 2000's vibe and atmosphere. I don't play this game that much anymore, but when I re-visit it, I just feel like I'm a street racer in a gritty US West Coast city. Black box were really good on creating immersive worlds/maps, and not only in the NFS franchise, like the skate series, for example. Thanks for this video ! I really enjoyed it! The quality is excellent with some humor touch here and there. I really liked the chapter part with the iconic livery of the cars :) Keep up the great work !

One of the most important things I wanted to get across in this video is the importance of the city map in an open world racing game, so yeah I absolutely agree with you. Black box were really good at encapsulating a certain time period and that only becomes more apparent now that the game is more than 20 years old!

For some reason Samantha was and is to this day someone who feels genuinely like the coolest friend/sidekick ever... I'm not talking just about helping the player in the begining of underground 2 but also about how it feels like she tries to introduce the newcomer to the racing scene without seeming like she has any profit to make from the player. It even feels as if the two interract with eachother behind the scenes and that their friendship is not just scripted to fit the game's narrative... I'd love to see her return and being the same person she was in underground 1 with the exact same affiliation towards the player with probably an easter egg dialogue like "Hey looks like we meet again bro!"
@MatthysFAIL34 минут бұрын
I agree, that would be really cool! Normally I'd say that it's not very likely someone like Samantha would ever return, but since Razor from Most Wanted 05 just returned to NFS Unbound a few weeks ago, I guess everything's possible!:)

Got into NFS Underground through the demo they used to give out with the PS2 magazines back in the day. Lost count as to how many times I played that demo, figuring out the shortcuts and restarting when I didn't get a 5 star visually rated car 😂. One of those games that just captured the zeitgeist so well.

Good video. I'm working on a NFS video as well so I've been watching a lot of different retrospectives for research. This one really stood out to me though, due to how much you went into the map! 🤓I've never seen another video cover the layout of the world and talk about it like a real setting, it was very interesting and informative as a nostalgia nerd myself. The way you went into the characters was also in a unique way, I like the retrospective style review on them as if their real people in a sense, it's funny and pretty interesting. Didn't really like the music opinions lol but everyone has their things😂. Hope you keep growing man!🥳

if anyone plays on steam NFS heat is about 4 bucks right now, and as someone that very much loves underground 1 and 2, its the closest i think we are going to get to a remaster of underground. its been more playable by turning the ingame music off and using youtube with steam overlay to play the underground OST really makes it feel good. campaign is poopy but the racing is god and feels great. give it a chance. dont spend 60 on it. get it on sale. screw EA

I think UG1 and later NFS games have excellent graphics and art design to this day, from city layout to the CGI, and the 2000s attitude sells it a lot for me, good times. Too bad we can't say the same about the insanely hard races and the controls which it feels like it only works when it wants to.

This definately one of the best reviews of UG1 and it doesnt suffer from UG2 was the best so let's give UG1 as many passes in its flaws as possible . I still think UG1 and unbound are my favourite NFS games specifically because they have the least amount of CATCHES/ mechanics you have to interact with JUST so you can Race. UG2s open world is boring af when you have to travel to everything, MW05 is boring when cops are tied to progression and getting busted means you have spend 45mins just to get to heat level 2 to be able to gain reasonable bounty multipliers for each milestone. The nfs series ahas always been 7/10 or 8/10 but nostalgia has lead people to think its been wayyy more than its actually worth and thats why games like HEAT or UNBOUND dont get the same universal apraise as the earlier titles despite being the same quality overall

I understand that fans of the Hot Pursuit series were pissed over the direction the series was going for at the time, but it was neccesary for it to evolve beyond of just supercars and exotics, don't get me wrong i do love lambos, vipers and what not but having just that in the game get rather boring over time "in my opinion" therefore i would say that Black Box did the right thing in going on a different route when it came to the tuner culture scene of the early 2000's, capitalize on it and making part of the NFS franchise and look how well that turned out.
@MatthysFAIL6 күн бұрын
I absolutely agree with you! At a certain point a franchise HAS to evolve or adapt in order to survive! And I personally like both styles of games, hell I even like what they tried to do in NFS Shift and The Run haha.
@pablodelgado79196 күн бұрын
@MatthysFAIL Absolutely, it was a matter of just stepping up to the next level and bring something fresh and new to the table, while innovating with a lot of the stuff the game brought like customizations for example "which i wasted time with it trying to make my car look as good as possible, though i despised that they used said customization as a requierement for you to unlock more races in Underground 2" as for both Shift and The Run, while i'm not that much of a fan of enclosed circuit racing i did enjoyed Shift for the most part.
