Yeah you guys are correct, those are all real chefs and owners of high-profile restaurants not only in America, but the entire world. The most notorious would be Thomas Keller of The French Laundry, who helps Carmy with the roast chicken in the flashback. That's a particularly neat appearance because all of Keller's kitchens have a plaque with the words "Sense Of Urgency", which inspired "Every Second Counts". If you look at Carmy's hands, he has a tattoo that says "S.O.U." on his fingers, that's what it stands for. Another notorious chef is the guy Luca was annoying with questions; that's Grant Achatz of Alinea. We also see Will Guidara at the table with the chefs, he was the co-owner of Eleven Madison Park and is one of the show's consultants. The guy who tells the haircut story is Malcolm Livingston II, a pastry chef who inspired the character of Marcus. We also have Christina Tosi, Genie Kwon, Rosio Sanchez, Wylie Dufresne, and some others whose name I can't remember, so many great chefs in one episode.

I was fully expecting the New York chefs douchebaggery to have been exaggerated due to Carmy’s perspective. NOPE. Dude was a grade A narcissistic asshole and I feel bad for Camry. Between that and his home life, no wonder he is the way he is lol Anyways I honestly enjoyed this season, can’t wait for the chaos of the next!

The review was definitely mixed. It had some really strong positive words but also had “sloppy” as one word. Either way, anything other than stellar isn’t good for them, at least in their minds.

it was in his mind...the same words came through when the Faks put the pics of the critics up.

He's not necessarily "right". Sure, he got great, but at what cost? His mental health. I'm not sure if you guys are familiar with panic attacks or just general anxiety caused by trauma but it sucks. It ruins your life. The contrast between the guy in the flashback being kind and gentle when he teaches him something and the other douchebag traumatizing him every second is excellent, cause it goes to show that he could've gotten excellent without having to be traumatized in the meantime.

I just honestly don't get reactors that empathize with the asshole or just think he's kinda right. He isn't, and that's the point. He's a narcissistic guy that enjoys pushing people to the edge.

I love this series, but don't care for the food (the fancy ass food I mean, the common stuff like Italian beef sandwiches are great). I've eaten at Michelin star restaurants several times over the years and did not enjoy it any of the times. Just not my thing I guess.
