Thank you. You made that look so easy and fun. Think I will give it a try.

Vachon Bouchard I'll try my best to show the steps at a slower pace so it's easier to catch on :) I'll give tips on tools etc too.

Do you keep the ball and needle thread uncut together or do you need to cut it separately to work it?

Hai love to study needle lace. But turkish is an unknown language for me. So can u do more videos on towel edging mats etc. Since other utube videos are in other languages its tough to learn just by seeing it. Xplanation do matters. Hopes u will upload such videos...

Hi Annie! It took a lot of time filming these videos. I had to record what I was doing several times, then write a script and do voice overs, and then add subtitles. These videos may be short, but I put a lot of hours into them! I think I will go back to doing videos after I finish writing my patterns for my books and handouts. That's my current priority. Glad you enjoyed the videos 😊

As I pull the thread after winding it I am unable to get the knot correctly. And it does not sit close to the first
@flowersinthreads41686 жыл бұрын
pvkusha hi! Are you winding it counter clockwise twice? It's important to make sure the thread does not get tangled. How close the knots are to each other depends on you. It usually takes practice to get it consistently spaced.

A couple of tips if you are an absolute beginner to needle lace is to: Use larger size threads. I am using thread size 10 in the video. You can even use thread size 3 as long as you have the right needle size. You can see your knots more clearly that way. When winding the thread on the needle, it is important to wind the thread counter-clockwise and upwards the needle. As you pull the needle, the thread will slide down the needle. Use a length of thread about 8 to 12 inches to start. You can use a longer length of thread once you understand how to do the double knot technique. Sometimes the thread gets tangled and you have to untangle it as you create your double knots. The spacing of the knots takes practice. Once you get familiar with the motions and materials, you will have a good feel for what angle to pull your thread at. I like to keep slide my needle close to the first knot to shorten the spacing. If the thread wrapped around your finger starts to loosen up, pull on the tail end of the thread and hold it in place. Hope that helps.

@@flowersinthreads4168 Hello, I want to learn this art and your videos are an excellent guide to do it. What kind of needle do you use? cross stitch embroidery needle? or maybe another kind? does it have a specific name? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

@@belennino7728 I use tapestry needles because the tips are blunt. You could use any needle available, but I like being safe about it!
