I've been looking for a tutorial like this forever. Thank you so much for you time and effort into teaching this craft. It really means a lot to me, and probably many others.

I've been wanting to get into a thread craft, to make garments/decorations with my own hands and feel proud of it. I've crocheted a bit, but I wasn't a huge fan of how most stitches look. (I do think I'd like amigurumi though!) Nowadays I'm thinking of dipping my toes into embroidery and needle lace. Thanks for the help as I look for my preferred craft!

Thank you for this video. I have collected some needlelace books over the years and taught myself some things but there's nothing like seeing another person go through the steps. I love how such lovely lace can be made with just a simple needle and thread. I look forward to your other videos.

I have found a craft I cannot do. I knit, crochet, and shuttle tat. I would love learn bobbin lace but that is also beyond me. Do you think a blind person can do needle lace?

Hmm, how neat. do yu know if this is the kind of lace Laura Bridgman made" I know she did some kind of needle lace work but I am not sure this is it. She was the first deaf blind person educated in the united states and made beautiful lace for charity and her own support. I as a blind nitter crocheter and tatter think I have met my match in lacemaking, this does no look lik something I could do but neither dos bobin lace. Its still neat to think about though. Tiffany.

OH! So Cordonnet is actually a designation, not just the name of a line of thread! Learn something new etc.

My grandmother made this ,but I thought she called it tatting lace . ???
@golfgranny589 жыл бұрын
+Bernice Thompson Tatting is made with a bobbin, not a needle.

golfgranny58 there is needle tatting too
@Blacklilly228 жыл бұрын
+golfgranny58 there is needle tatting. the needle is very long, thin, and blunt. it isn't used to thread into cloth but more like a crochet hook.

I love his voice very Victorian and easily understandable, I imagine it being long ago and That I am in a Charles Dickens novel. I am about 10 years old and wearing one of those long white Victorian dresses with the drop waists ( like in all those historic pictures) and trying awfully hard to sit still ( and not fidget) ..... in our family parlor .....while being taught this “socially acceptable” past time (suitable for a “young lady”) by one of my private tutors (who of course has a mad crush on my beautiful young painting instructor.....She is secretly in love with him as well, but is too proper to say it out loud)...They are perhaps in their 20’s or late teens, and of course.....he is about to go off to war)....But as for me, I would much rather be off riding in the my pony cart! ...Of course I am easily entertained by my own imagination. But,I seriously want to thank him so much for sharing this, it is a wonderful art form that we may be losing, if not for his kindness in sharing this. I totally enjoyed watching and listening this.... and will be trying my hand at it very soon!
