You could use tubeless rim tape made for mtb, and a valve stem from the auto parts store. It would save a lot more weight then this tube setup.

Nice video, at 13:30 you say low PSI gives more suspension for MTBs but it's really for increased surface area/traction, low psi changes the profile of the tire in contact with the ground and gives you a wider tread pattern. Like airing down to drive your truck on the beach. Just an FYI for anyone watching.

Luis Uribe no specially not with high tyre presure the only problem you get is if you run 20-30 psi you can roll the tyre off the bead

Jesse Renn no it wont work you have to block the spoke holes to prevent air loss and the only way to do that is to use tape the rim or over hang the tube to create a air tight seal on the bead. If you didn't over hang it the sealant and air would leak under the tube

watch a mountainbike tutorial its all the same tape your rim to close spoke holes (take rim strip out before) and use a tubeless valve or one cut out from an old tube as long as you tape carefully and use good tyre and sealant most will seal within a few days just shake your tyre well and pump more air for first days

Leigh sciarone yeah itll work remember the more pressure you put in the tyre that same amount of pressure is placed on the bead. why would you want to run 110 on a dirt jumper though? And be careful make sure your rim is suitable for that high of a pressure if its a decent wheel it should be fine but if not the wheel can implode

I just don't see the point in doing this. You've still got the tube still in there so you've not saved any weight, well hardly any. And if you get a puncture out in the wild you're pretty much screwed since it has already been explained that you can't use a hand pump to inflate the tire after a repair because you need that fast inrush of air in order to seat the tire bead. Man, you're just storing up trouble for the future. Me? I can fix a puncture in under 15 minutes with my little kit and bike pump when I'm out in the sticks. I really don't understand all the guys here who think it's a really cool hack which they want to do for themselves. The only thing cool about it is that it is different and "radical dude !" Practically, it sucks. >

Just got a bmx; coming from mtb. After I get my first flat on my inner tube I'm going to try the mtb method. Tape the rim, add a stem, set the bead, and add sealant. Don't know if bmx wheels have bead bumps like mtb wheels, but it might be worth a try

Just buy a tube and/or a patch kit. For one, its cheaper than a tube AND bottle or two of sealant. Two, it a lot quicker and more convenient to change out when your tire goes boom. And three, it'll keep your expensive ass wheels CLEAN of all that dumb ass slime that you get all over them fumbling around to do this hack job of a tubeless setup. And for the record, 4 piece bars were NEVER lame. Only lame trendy riders thought so. Same with having 4 pegs...kegs...whatever. Please stop making a mockery of bmx. Some of us still love and care about the greatest sport/lifetsyle ever and would continue even if KZbin ceased to exist. We didn't have it uears ago and did just fine without it.

Explain why a 16" tube wont work on a 20"🤔 Ive seen it done, as well as folded mountain bike tubes on 20" you can use bmx tubes on dirt bikes as well. So why wouldnt that work for a smaller concept?

Mike Graham doesnt expand the way it needs to. There is also width involved with tire size. I'm putting 20x2.2 tires on my bike and if I was to use a 20x1.95 tube, I have a higher chance of popping the tube because I run between 60-70 psi and that would most definitely overextend the 1.95 tube. Same goes for a 16 on a 20. Way too much stretching of the tube to be reliable
